According to the Prefecture (1/11/98), all cosmetics must list all the ingredients they contain on their label. Most consumers have no idea what they mean and where the ingredients of various products come from, which are only herbal and innocent it’s not…Among the 10,000 chemicals used in cosmetics without breaking the law, there are plenty of highly toxic and dangerous substances.
Start reading labels – avoid the following petrochemicals:
Butyl Paraben-Methyl Paraben
Propyl Paraben-Ethyl Paraben
Paraffinium Liquidim-Mineral Oil
FDC Red (where color present)
CI 5636 (where numbers are present)
Don’t put anything on your skin that you would be afraid to consume, because the result is the same..
Let’s take a closer look at the most known toxic ingredients and their side effects.
The well-known acetone used as a solvent for nail polishes is included in lists of dangerous substances. It causes dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, difficulty speaking and in extreme cases coma. It acts as a depressant of the central nervous system CNS
Aluminum Allantoinate, Aluminum Carbonate, Aluminum Chloride – aluminum compositions
A very common ingredient used in deodorants and antiperspirants. Aluminum compounds can literally stop the body’s natural process of sweating. They can shrink sweat glands and block pores. They can cause allergic reactions and are blamed for Alzheimer’s disease. .We must avoid them and especially women where the chemicals they put in the armpits reach through the glands in the chest and accumulate.
Ammonium Hydrohide Compounds
Many ammonia compounds are used in cosmetics. They are toxic and cause allergic reactions in many people. Prolonged contact can cause coughing, respiratory arrest resulting in pulmonary edema.. We must avoid them..
Widely used in sunscreens, shampoos, cleaners and perfumes.Irritating to eyes, skin and respiratory system.Harmful by inhalation, ingestion and skin absorption.Included in recently published list of hazardous chemicals by WWF and its residues were found in breast milk…
Benzyl Acetate-benzene acetate
There are serious indications that it is a carcinogenic substance (pancreatic cancer). Causes irritation to the eyes and respiratory system, coughing and systemic reactions. Toxic.
Petrochemical ingredient used in cosmetics. It is absorbed by the skin very easily. It can cause eye irritation, headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drop in blood pressure, CNS depression and in extreme cases cases of respiratory arrest and death.
BHT: Butulated Hydroxytoluene
It is a synthetic ingredient (from petroleum). It is contained in water creams, moisturizing serums and generally in cosmetics as an antioxidant. It is extremely photosensitive and causes major irritations with exposure to the sun. It causes eye and skin irritations, digestive and respiratory disorders and irritations. system and by extension to the heart. It can also cause reproductive problems and disorders in the fetus. Its large accumulation causes gastroenteritis, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea and general extreme health problems. Suspected of carcinogenesis at risk level 3. Contains the dangerous ingredients Cresol and Phenol ingredients blamed for many health and environmental pollution problems.
Cocamide DEA-Hydroxyethyl corn amides
A mixture of ethanolamines from coconut acids used to make soap bubbles and to thicken cosmetics or shampoos. But because it is mixed with synthetic chemicals it can cause allergic reactions and dry skin and hair. It is toxic .
Diethanolamine (DEA) – Diethanolamine
Often used in cosmetics to balance the PH. It is also used in many fatty acids to process the acid, which is then used as a base in the emulsion. Causes allergic reactions, eye and skin irritations. Toxic if used for a long period of time.Possible carcinogenic agent.
Used in skin and nail care products, causing allergies, severe pain and cancer.
EDTA Ethylenedinitrilo-Edetic Acid
Synthetic chemical used for softening water and as an antioxidant. It causes allergic reactions and is toxic. In fact, the World Health Organization classifies it as a teratogenic substance.
It is a poison. Decades ago fluoride was used as a poison for mice, rats. It destroys acetylcholine (a substance that is responsible for the transmission of the nervous system), so that the feeling of pain is not transmitted from the teeth to the brain. The less acetylcholine there is less memory in the body. Alzheimer’s disease is due to the reduced production of acetylcholine. 50% of fluoride is absorbed by the blood vessels in the mouth and accumulates mainly in the bones and teeth. Its effect on the bones is immediate and leads to osteoporosis and arthritis. In the 2nd World War, the Germans used it on prisoners, with the intention of having reduced perception, reactions and thinking.Since 1990, fluoride has been listed as a carcinogen by the US National Cancer Institute with evidence of bone cancer and osteosarcoma. The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology classified fluoride as an unacceptable dental drug, due to its high toxicity. Studies have shown that if a child consumes 50ml of toothpaste containing fluoride they can die.
It is used as a preservative and germicide. Usually its production is used in cosmetics because it smells very strong. (Used in embalming of dead birds and animals). It causes allergic reactions, it is definitely toxic, possibly carcinogenic.
Imidazolidinyl Urea- Diazolidinyl Urea – Imidazolinate Urea
These are the most commonly used preservatives after Parabens. According to the American Academy of Dermatology they cause dermatitis, while at temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius they release formalin (see above). These chemicals are toxic.
Chemical substance from petroleum. It is used in face creams. It irritates the eyes, affects the central nervous system, irritates the skin, causes redness and pain. By breathing this substance we have symptoms of dizziness, headaches, anesthesia and even death. People with skin sensitivities, kidney, liver, heart and circulatory problems are very vulnerable toxic. It can cause teratogenesis.
Dangerous flammable material – Causes irritation and burns to the skin. Breathing causes severe coughing – difficult breathing. Causes eye irritation and even temporary vision problems. Chronic exposure can cause weakness, depression, headaches, mental problems .It reduces the ability of the blood to transport oxygen to the various organs of the body.
In lip, eye, hand, body creams, water creams, makeup, hair products, etc. It covers the skin with a thin layer, preventing its ability to breathe, eliminate toxic substances, hydrate and create new healthy cells. Common reactions are black spots, pimples, dehydration, photosensitivity (hypersensitivity to the sun-spots),
premature aging of the skin. Cardiological disorders, allergic disorders, immune disorders, kidney damage and breathing difficulties.
Methyl -Propyl Butyl Paraben-Parabens-Ethyl Paraben
They are used to inhibit microbes and increase the shelf life of a product. Although they are known to be very toxic they are widely used. They have caused allergies and dermatitis. Scientific research by Brunel University has proven that they can to be absorbed by the skin. Inside the body, they act like a foreign female hormone, causing a decrease in sperm strength, testicular cancer, penile deformities and other disorders in the reproductive system in men and breast cancer in women.
Causes dermatitis irritations and burns to the eyes. Vision problems. It is among the ingredients that can cause carcinogenesis.
Paraffiniun Liquidium-Paraffin-Oil Derivative
It is used in many cosmetic lipsticks, creams, etc. Toxic. Causes eye irritation, in contact with the skin causes problems dermatitis, headaches, dizziness, anesthesia. Similar symptoms to mineral oil.
It is a mineral oil and causes many problems when used on the skin. It causes photosensitivity, has a tendency to inhibit the functioning of the body’s natural mechanism and leads to dehydration and peeling of the skin. We are buying a product that causes the reactions , which it is projected to relieve. It is used because of the very low cost and has similar symptoms to mineral oil.
Harmful by inhalation or by absorption through the skin. Causes eye irritation. Irritates mucous membranes and the upper respiratory system. Belongs to category C with evidence of teratogenicity in animals. Included among the ingredients which can cause carcinogenesis. Avoid contact with the product and inhalation.
A complex petrochemical mixture used as a humectant. It is a cheap and widely available ingredient. It is known to cause allergic reactions. It is a primary skin irritant even at a very low concentration. Its function is to absorb the moisture from the skin by “stealing” it from the lower layer to bring it to the surface. It is widely used in industrial products such as brake fluid and car antifreeze. This particular product is reported to cause abnormality in the liver or even destruction of the renal.
Propyl Gallate Antioxidant –
causes allergic reactions. It is toxic.
PUP/VA Copolymer PUP/VA-Copolymer
A chemical from petroleum, used in hair spray, gel and other cosmetics. It is considered toxic because molecules of this ingredient have been found in people with lung sensitivity.
It is an ammonia derivative used in cosmetics. It causes eye irritation, hair loss, skin peeling and severe allergic reactions. It is toxic.
Sodium C14-16 Oletin Sulfonate-Olefin Sulfide
They are used in shampoos and other cosmetics as moisturizers. They are petroleum derivatives and are toxic.
A chemical used in hair conditioner and face creams. It was originally created by the fabric softener industry. It is much cheaper than plant extracts that actually help hair and skin. It is toxic.
Sodium Hydroxide-Caustic Sodium
It is contained in powders, soaps, shampoos, products that straighten hair, shaving foams, water creams, etc. It absorbs water quickly. It is used for cleaning drains. Its use for cleaning drains in condensation above 10% has been banned in America. It causes dermatitis, while its introduction into the body causes vomiting, physical exhaustion and collapse of the body. Inhaling it causes damage to the lungs.
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate
It can be synthetic (from petroleum) or of plant origin (from coconut), depending on the company’s philosophy. It is used in shampoos and other cosmetics as a cleanser. The chemical causes eye irritation, skin rashes and itching, hair loss, dandruff and allergic reactions.
is often used in cosmetics as a PH balancer. It is also used in many fatty acids in salt (stearate) which is then used as a base for emulsion. This ingredient causes allergic reactions, eye problems, hair dehydration and on the skin. May be toxic if used over a long period of time.
Synthetic fragrances used to make a beautiful product should be avoided at all costs like hair dyes. They are listed as FD&C or D&C or CI 77496. They are usually derived from tar. According to the world health organization they are factors that cause cancer. They also cause skin diseases and decrease oxygen levels in the body. If a cosmetic contains them, we should not use them.
A resin used to stabilize and thicken cosmetics. It is toxic and causes allergic reactions
Tallow (Sodium Tallowed Tallow Amine Oxide)
Fat from adipose tissues of cattle and sheep. Widely used in common soaps, shaving foams, lipsticks, shampoos, etc. Tasteless and odorless ingredient, can cause irritation and eczema. It is noted that toxins and dioxins accumulate in large quantities in the fatty tissues of animals, with the result that the use of this ingredient in various products poses a risk of transferring dangerous chemicals to the human body.
The above facts, validly proven and scientifically accredited, constitute a very small part of our wrong choices regarding the care of the human body, which of course concerns both sexes. The aforementioned substances are components of products with wide daily use by the whole family. We accumulate in our body substances that are highly toxic and incompatible with its nature, which of course has harmful consequences (direct as well as indirect…) on it. So having learned information like the above, we have no excuse anymore to use cosmetics with the above dangerous synthetic chemical ingredients. We must love our body, believe in its potential and take care of it with products that are perfectly compatible with it, products made of plant ingredients,
