Vidyut Jammwal holds his breath for 15 minutes at Street Fighter event, shares message for youngsters: ‘Ek baar ruk jao’
Vidyut Jammwal left the audience stunned at a special Street Fighter event in Mumbai after holding his breath for 15 minutes while meditating on stage. The actor, who is making his Hollywood debut as Dhalsim in the upcoming film, used the event to demonstrate the yogic practices that connect him with his character.
In Street Fighter, Vidyut plays Dhalsim, the popular gaming character whose abilities are associated with yoga. The actor’s background in Kalaripayattu, the ancient Indian martial art, also connects closely with the physical and spiritual aspects of the character.
Vidyut Jammwal meditates for 15 minutes on stage
During the event, Vidyut sat in meditation alongside cosplayers dressed as Dhalsim. He remained still on stage for 15 minutes while holding his breath, giving the audience a glimpse of the discipline behind his yogic practice.
After completing the meditation, Vidyut explained that he used a special technique from the Patanjali Yoga Sutra. According to the actor, the practice has helped him achieve several milestones in his life, and he also teaches the technique to youngsters.
Vidyut explained that the larger idea behind the practice is patience. Instead of constantly chasing results, he believes people should learn to stop, remain still and understand that achieving something meaningful can take time.

Addressing the younger generation at the event, Vidyut said, “Main apni younger generation ko ek baat bolna chata hu, ruk jao thoda sa. ‘How do you get it?’ I don’t know how I got it, because I stood still.”
Speaking about the constant rush to achieve more, he continued, “Hum dekh rahe sab log bhag rahe hai, yeh karna hai, voh karna hai, yeh karna hai, voh karna hai, kuch nahi karna hai; ek baar tham jao, ek baar ruk jao.”
He added, “That skill will really really take you very far. This is what I can tell you, thank you for witnessing this.”
Vidyut Jammwal makes Hollywood debut with Street Fighter
Street Fighter marks Vidyut Jammwal’s Hollywood debut, with the actor stepping into the role of Dhalsim. His casting brings his years of experience in martial arts and physical training to a character known for his mastery of yoga.
The Paramount Pictures release is scheduled to hit theatres across India on October 16, 2026. The film will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
