Morgan Riddle Shares Tip on Turning SPF Into a Daily ‘Habit,’ Reveals the ‘Best Women’ to Follow Online (Exclusive)

Influencer Morgan Riddle doesn’t play when it comes to her sunscreen application.

While speaking exclusively with First for Women about her partnership with ISDIN for their Fusion Water Magic sunscreen — as part of the brand’s “Get It On” campaign to promote SPF use — the social media star, 28, reveals why she uses SPF consistently and how others can make it a daily habit.

Riddle is also, of course, dating tennis star Taylor Fritz, so she spends a lot of time outside at matches and is constantly on the go, making having a good skincare routine overall crucial. Find out how she prioritizes it despite her hectic schedule.

You’ve said sunscreen has become a “non-negotiable” in your routine — what finally made it click for you to wear SPF every single day?

MR: I actually have a few scars on my body from getting moles removed that had precancerous cells, and it’s really not fun to have to do that. It was the first time that I ever got stitches too; I hated it. After that, I started to prioritize sunscreen because I really don’t want to have to get any more moles removed. It’s not a pleasant experience, so I started to prioritize my skin health.

For women who know they should wear sunscreen daily but struggle to stay consistent, what’s your best advice for turning it into a habit?

MR: There’s this thing called habit stacking from the book Atomic Habits, which is doing something that you’re not used to or that you don’t necessarily enjoy and stacking it with something that you already do or do enjoy. For me, sunscreen is the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning; I go straight into the bathroom and put it on before my morning walk. After doing it for a week, it becomes sort of natural to you.

You’re partnering with ISDIN — what stood out to you about Fusion Water Magic that made you want to incorporate it into your everyday routine?

MR: I love that it has hyaluronic acid in it; I really try to prioritize products that add a lot of moisture because my skin is more dry, so it’s a really nice hydrating base under makeup. It doesn’t just protect against the sun, it also protects against blue light and pollution, which I think is really important when I’m traveling so much and in so many different types of climates and really busy cities. I love that 360-degree protection.

Your schedule is always on the go, from travel to tennis tournaments, how do you make sure you’re protecting your skin no matter where you are?

MR: Making it a daily habit. It’s something that is a part of my skincare routine now every day, not just when I’m going out in the sun, and not just in the summer. I wear it year-round. Also, with flying on planes so often, since they’re so drying, I always just try to do a lot of layering with moisture products. I’ll put on a B5 serum, then a thick, heavy moisturizer, before I get on a flight. And then usually when I land, I try to do some sort of exfoliating mask or something just to get all of that sort of “ick” of the plane off of me.

How does your skincare routine shift with the seasons, and why is SPF the one step that never changes for you?

MR: It honestly stays consistent throughout the seasons. I would say the only thing that sort of slightly changes is the thickness of my moisturizer, depending on whether I’m in a winter climate or during the summer. However, I do wear SPF every single day year-round, even when it’s cloudy and gloomy outside, because I think we all know by now that even if the sun isn’t directly out, you’re still getting sun damage and still coming through the overcast. Even on a gloomy day, I make sure to put on SPF.

Who are your beauty icons, and what’s the best skincare or beauty lesson you’ve learned from them?

MR: I don’t know if I would say I have specific beauty icons. I follow a lot of beauty influencers, obviously, and I really like the older women on TikTok who are like “skinfluencers” because I feel like they’ve tried all the treatments, they’ve tried all of the products, so they’re not going to feature trendy products just because; I feel like they are the best women to listen to. I follow a few dermatologists on TikTok as well, mainly because I don’t want to blindly listen to influencers all the time about skincare, since everyone has such different skin. I like when people talk about beauty and skincare in a data and science-backed sort of way.

What’s one beauty trend you’re loving right now—and how do you adapt trends to fit your own routine in a realistic, everyday way?

MR: I don’t know if this is a trend, but I’m really loving Australian makeup right now. I follow a few Australian makeup artists, and I really love the super glowy, bronzy, sun-kissed sort of makeup that they do there. I have gotten my makeup done in Australia and in the US, and the makeup artists there really do your makeup differently. They love super blushed, super bronzed skin with maybe a few fake freckles; I’ve seen a few videos about people trying Australian makeup, so I guess that’s sort of a trend right now!

When you’re packing for a weekend at a tennis tournament, what are your must-have beauty essentials — and what can you not leave home without?

MR: Oh, I always bring under-eye patches, face masks, and things that are, again, super hydrating because traveling so much is so drying. I always have the ISDIN Fusion Water Magic with me to protect my skin from the sun.  I actually always bring my full-size products and my full makeup bag with me everywhere. Since I travel so much, if I don’t bring one thing or I forget something, I end up just going to Sephora and repurchasing it, so it’s better for me to just bring everything so I don’t run out of anything I need.

Taking care of your skin is a rewarding commitment. It involves nurturing your skin, keeping it healthy, and feeling confident every day. With many products and advice available, starting can feel overwhelming. The good news is that you can create an effective skincare routine without making it complicated.

Building a routine that suits your skin type and concerns is key to lasting beauty. Whether you’re new to skincare or have tried various products, there’s always a chance to improve your routine. Let’s look at how to build a simple and effective skincare routine for lasting results.

Know Your Skin Type

Before buying products, understand your skin type. Is it dry, oily, combination, or sensitive? Each type has different needs, and knowing your skin will help you choose the right products. For oily skin, lightweight, non-comedogenic products work best. Dry skin often needs thicker, more hydrating creams.

Watch how your skin reacts over time. Factors like weather, diet, and stress can change its condition, so be flexible with your approach. Regularly check your skin to adjust your routine as needed.

Basic Steps

A basic skincare routine usually includes cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and sun protection. Start with a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and makeup without stripping your skin of its natural oils. Next, use a toner to balance your skin’s pH and prepare it for other products.

Moisturizers keep your skin hydrated. Choose a light formula for oily skin and a richer cream for dry skin. Sun protection is essential; using sunscreen daily helps prevent aging and skin cancer. Find a product that fits easily into your routine.

Adding Treatments

After you establish the basics, think about adding targeted treatments. Serums work well for specific issues like dark spots, fine lines, or acne. Ingredients like vitamin C and hyaluronic acid can benefit all skin types.

Don’t forget exfoliation. Use chemical or physical exfoliants 1-3 times a week based on your skin’s tolerance. This helps remove dead skin cells, promoting cell turnover and revealing brighter, smoother skin.

Considering Botox

While a good skincare routine helps your skin, many people also turn to cosmetic treatments to enhance their routine. Vancouver Botox has become popular for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, giving your skin a smoother, younger look. This non-invasive procedure involves injecting purified botulinum toxin into specific muscles. This temporarily relaxes the muscles, reducing wrinkles.

Botox can enhance a skincare routine but does not replace it. Many find that regular treatments make their skin feel rejuvenated, allowing products to work better. When combined with a solid skincare regimen, Botox can enhance your overall appearance and help maintain a youthful appearance.

Ongoing Care

Creating a long-term skincare routine takes commitment. Consistency is important for seeing real results, so try to stick to your regimen daily. It is helpful to set reminders or create a checklist for morning and evening.

Regularly check your skin and routine. Changes in your skin’s needs often mean it’s time to try new products or adjust what you currently use. Consulting the best Botox clinics in Vancouver can also give you personalized advice and recommendations.

Listen to Your Skin

Your skin reflects your health, so pay attention to what it needs. Diet, hydration, and sleep significantly affect how your skin looks. Eating a balanced diet full of antioxidants and drinking enough water can improve your skin.

Skincare products are not the same for everyone. What works for a friend may not work for you. Try different products and techniques to see how your skin reacts. Adjust your routine based on its response.

Embracing Minimalism

With so many products available, sometimes less is better. A minimalist skincare routine focuses on quality over quantity. Use a few essential products that match your skin’s needs, rather than too many items that can overwhelm you.

By simplifying your routine, you can make it easier while still achieving healthy skin. Fewer products can lead to better results and reduce the risk of irritation from overlayering.

Seasonal Adjustments

Just like you change your clothes with the seasons, you should also change your skincare routine. The weather can affect your skin, so it’s important to adjust your products and habits.

In the colder months, the air is usually drier, and your skin may need thicker moisturizers to help with dryness. Look for ingredients like shea butter or ceramides for better hydration. You should also use a creamier cleanser to keep moisture in your skin.
