What Causes Adult Acne? 10 Correct Skincare Methods to Prevent Recurring Acne|Mana

What Causes Adult Acne? 10 Correct Skincare Methods to Prevent Recurring Acne|Mana

“Just when I thought my acne had cleared up, it appeared in the same spot again…”

“I didn’t have much acne as a teenager, but it started recurring after I became an adult.”

“I’m worried about my acne and am working hard on washing and skincare, but it’s not improving.”

There are many people who suffer from these kinds of concerns.

Adult acne is not simply caused by having “dirty skin.”

It occurs due to a combination of various factors, such as hormonal changes, sebum, clogged pores, skin irritation, and lifestyle habits.

Therefore, to prevent acne, it is important not to rely on care like “just washing” or “popping the acne that appears,” but rather to avoid over-stimulating the skin and review your daily skincare routine.

In this article, we will explain as clearly as possible the main causes of recurring adult acne and the correct skincare methods you can start today.

What are the main causes of recurring adult acne?

First, it is important to know that adult acne is not necessarily caused by just one factor.

Acne occurs when pores become clogged, sebum accumulates, and inflammation occurs there.

So, why does acne become easier to repeat as you get older?

1. Changes in hormonal balance

Hormonal changes can be involved in adult acne.

Especially for women, hormones change due to factors like the menstrual cycle, which can worsen acne.

It is also said that acne can worsen when you are feeling stressed.

If you find that “acne has increased since I got busy lately,” it is also important to review not just your skin, but your entire lifestyle.

2. Sebum and dead skin cells accumulate in pores

When sebum and old dead skin cells from the skin accumulate in the pores, the pores become prone to clogging.

If this state continues, it can lead to whiteheads or blackheads, and if further inflammation occurs, it can turn into red, swollen acne.

In short, for acne countermeasures, it is important not only to consider “what to do about existing acne,” but also to keep pores in a state where they are less likely to clog.

3. Excessive skin irritation

When acne appears,

“I must remove the sebum”

“I must remove the dirt from my pores”

Some people think this and end up scrubbing their face too hard.

However, scrubbing strongly when washing your face or repeating harsh care can put a strain on your skin.

Precisely because you have acne-prone skin, it is important to not wash too much and not scrub.

4. Dry skin

Some people think, “Acne means I shouldn’t moisturize.”

However, even if you have acne-prone skin, proper moisturizing is important if your skin is dry.

Especially when your skin is dry due to acne treatment, using a moisturizer can suppress dryness and irritation, making it easier to continue treatment.

10 Correct Skincare Methods to Prevent Recurring Acne

From here on, I will introduce 10 skincare habits to keep in mind to prevent recurring adult acne.

You don’t need to do everything perfectly at once.

First, try incorporating what you can, little by little.

1. The basic rule for face washing is to be “gentle”

When washing your face, try not to scrub your skin.

Lather the facial cleanser well and wash gently using the pads of your fingers.

After washing, use a clean towel to gently pat away moisture without rubbing your skin.

Washing your face is not a case of “the harder you scrub, the cleaner it gets.”

The important thing is not to give your skin unnecessary irritation.

2. Be careful not to over-wash your face

Even if you are concerned about sebum, avoid washing your face too many times.

Basically, wash your face a reasonable number of times, such as morning and night, according to your skin condition.

If you have been sweating, washing gently afterward is also an option.

If your skin feels tight after washing, check if you are over-washing or if the facial cleanser is right for your skin.

3. Moisturize after washing your face

Even if you are concerned about acne, don’t forget to moisturize after washing your face.

When skin is dry, it can become more prone to feeling tight or irritated.

For those prone to acne, checking for labels like “non-comedogenic” or “less likely to clog pores” when choosing products is one method.

4. Do not apply too much lotion or milky lotion

Skincare is not a case of “the more you use, the better.”

Layering many types of products such as lotion, serum, milky lotion, and cream can sometimes cause skin irritation.

First, start with a simple routine:

“Wash”
↓
“Moisturize”
↓
“Use sun protection during the day”

Try making this your basic care routine.

5. Do not scrub hard with exfoliants

When you are concerned about blackheads or rough skin, you might want to scrub your skin hard with an exfoliant.

However, if you scrub skin with acne hard, the irritation may worsen the condition.

Focus on “not damaging the skin” rather than just “removing dirt.”

6. Do not pop pimples

Avoid popping pimples with your fingers as much as possible.

I understand the urge to touch them because they bother you, but popping or pressing them firmly can prolong the healing process and lead to acne scars or hyperpigmentation.

When you have a breakout, make a conscious effort to “not touch” it.

7. Choose cosmetics that are “less likely to clog pores”

When choosing cosmetics, sunscreen, or skincare products, one method is to select products designed for acne-prone skin.

Check for labels such as “non-comedogenic,” “oil-free,” or “less likely to clog pores.”

However, these labels do not guarantee that the product will not cause acne for everyone.

It is important to use them while checking if they suit your skin.

8. Keep hair from touching your face

If your bangs or hair often touch your face, try to keep them away from your face as much as possible.

Especially if you are concerned about acne on your forehead, it is important to check if your hair care products or hair itself are touching your skin.

9. Protect against UV rays

Even when you are concerned about acne, do not forget to protect your skin from UV rays during the day.

When choosing sunscreen, it is easier to use products designed for acne-prone skin.

UV protection is an important part of skincare not only for acne itself but also for those concerned about skin discoloration after acne has healed.

10. Do not change your skincare routine frequently

When you get acne,

“Was this product not good enough?”

You might think, “I should use stronger cosmetics.”

And you may end up changing products one after another.

However, continuing to try various products in a short period can increase irritation to your skin.

For skincare, it is important not to seek results too quickly, but to continue with a method that suits your skin.

NG Skincare Habits to Avoid for Adult Acne

Contrary to the methods introduced so far, there are also habits you should avoid.

Typical examples include:

・Popping pimples
・Scrubbing hard when washing your face
・Washing your face too many times
・Not moisturizing even when your skin is dry
・Forcing yourself to use cosmetics that cause irritation
・Changing skincare products one after another in a short period

and similar actions.

In particular, because of the desire to “heal acne quickly,” rubbing or touching the skin forcefully can have the opposite effect.

What is important in skincare for acne-prone skin is not to overdo it.

If Acne Still Recurs, See a Dermatologist

“I keep getting acne even though I’ve reviewed my skincare routine”

“I get large, painful pimples”

“Acne leaves marks after it heals”

In such cases, do not try to solve it only with self-taught skincare, but consider consulting a dermatologist.

In particular, acne that swells significantly deep in the skin or acne that tends to leave marks may not be adequately addressed by over-the-counter skincare alone.

Acne is often thought of as something that “will heal eventually,” but medically, it is a skin disease that can be treated.

The Japanese Dermatological Association also treats acne as a skin disease called “acne vulgaris” and has published guidelines for its treatment.

Summary | Adult Acne Countermeasures Start with “Treating Your Skin Gently”

Adult acne is caused by a combination of various factors, including hormonal changes, sebum, clogged pores, stress, and skin irritation.

Therefore, it is not as simple as thinking that “removing all sebum is good” or “popping a pimple will make it heal faster.”

First, let’s focus on these 10 points:

1. Wash gently
2. Do not over-wash
3. Moisturize properly
4. Do not rub your skin
5. Do not touch your acne
6. Choose cosmetics that are less likely to clog pores
7. Keep your hair from touching your face too much
8. Use sun protection
9. Do not change your skincare products constantly
10. Consult a dermatologist if necessary

Try to keep these 10 things in mind.

The important thing is not to panic and rush your care only when a pimple appears, but to review your daily skincare routine little by little.

The more you think “I want it to heal quickly,” the more likely you are to touch your skin or wash it too vigorously.

However, the basic approach to adult acne care is to reduce irritation and treat your skin with care rather than attacking it.

If you are suffering from recurring acne, consulting a dermatologist is one option before you continue worrying that “my skincare routine might be wrong.”

Find the care that suits your skin condition and aim to gradually build a skin environment that is less prone to recurring acne.

Habits affecting your skincare routine

Habits affecting your skincare routine

Expensive products will not improve your skin when daily habits keep working against them. The way you treat your skin, apply each product and follow your routine often determines the result.

You have probably stood before a mirror and wondered why your skin was not clearing despite the money spent on products. The problem might not be the product. Before buying another serum or cream, check whether these habits are affecting your results.

Picking at your skin

The picking problem

Squeezing a pimple as soon as it appears often worsens the problem. Picking damages the skin, increases inflammation and introduces bacteria.

It also leaves dark marks or scars, especially when you repeatedly touch the same area. Instead of squeezing a spot, use an appropriate acne treatment containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Speak with a dermatologist if the breakouts persist or become painful.

Giving up too quickly

Skincare products rarely produce instant results. Some require several weeks of regular use before visible changes appear. Switching products every few days makes it difficult to know what works for your skin.

Retinoids, vitamin C and niacinamide all need time, although results depend on the product, concentration and skin type. Introduce new products gradually, follow the directions and stop using any product that causes severe irritation, swelling or burning.

Buying counterfeit products

The counterfeit trap

Fake skincare products often resemble the originals. The packaging, labels and seals might look convincing, but their contents are often unsafe.

Counterfeit products sometimes contain unknown ingredients or incorrect concentrations that cause irritation, breakouts, allergic reactions or burns. Buy from the brand’s official website or an authorised retailer.

Check the packaging, batch number and expiry date. An unusually low price is also a warning sign.

Ignoring pillowcases and phones

The pillowcase nobody thinks about

Your pillowcase collects sweat, oil, dead skin cells and product residue, while your phone screen regularly touches your hands and face. Dirty surfaces irritate the skin and worsen existing breakouts. Wash your pillowcase regularly, clean your phone screen carefully and avoid pressing it against your face for long periods. Also remove your makeup and cleanse your face before sleeping.

Following trends instead of your skin
A viral product might work for someone else and still be unsuitable for you. Rich creams often feel too heavy on oily or acne-prone skin, while strong exfoliants irritate dry or sensitive skin. This does not always mean the products are bad.

They might simply be wrong for your skin. Learn what your skin needs before buying a product because hormones, medication, age and weather also affect how it behaves. Consult a dermatologist if you are unsure about your skin type or have persistent concerns.

Build a simple skincare routine
A good skincare routine does not need 10 products. Start with the essentials and introduce new products one at a time. This makes it easier to notice what helps your skin and identify any product that causes irritation.

Cleanser
Use a gentle cleanser to remove sweat, oil, makeup and dirt. Avoid scrubbing harshly or washing your face too often because this weakens the skin barrier and causes dryness or irritation.

Toner
Toner is optional. If you choose to use one, select a hydrating or soothing formula that suits your skin. Avoid harsh products with high alcohol content if they leave your face dry, tight or irritated.

Serum or treatment
Serums usually target concerns such as acne, dehydration, uneven skin tone or fine lines. Avoid combining several active ingredients without understanding how they interact. Using too many treatments at once often irritates the skin instead of improving it.

Moisturiser
Every skin type needs moisture, including oily skin. Choose a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturiser if you have oily or acne-prone skin. A thicker cream usually works better for dry skin.

Sunscreen
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day. Sun exposure worsens dark marks, damages the skin and speeds up visible signs of ageing. Reapply it as directed, especially when spending long periods outdoors or sweating heavily.

When a product appears ineffective, do not rush to replace it. Check whether you are using it correctly and consistently. Healthy skin rarely comes from one miracle product. It takes a simple routine, sensible choices and patience.

More than skin deep, skincare bonds well with this often quoted saying "being in love makes you more beautiful."

How Skincare Improves Your Confidence and Personality

Skincare is more than a surface-level practice; it is a structured discipline that directly influences how individuals feel about themselves and how they present their personality to the world.

Skincare is often perceived as a routine of cleansing, moisturising, and protecting the skin, but its impact extends far beyond physical appearance. It plays a profound role in shaping self-confidence and nurturing personality development. Psychologically it helps enhance the feel-good factor. When individuals invest time and effort into caring for their skin, they are not merely enhancing their looks; they are cultivating self-respect, discipline, and a positive outlook that radiates into every aspect of life.

According to Researcher Maryam Amraei, in her Thesis for Bachelor of Beauty and Cosmetics, Novia (UAS) “The relationship between skincare and self-confidence is relevant, because skincare can increase a person’s sense of self-worth and quality of life. When people feel good in their own skin, they are more likely to show more confidence in their everyday connections.”

So, healthy skin is closely tagged to self-esteem. Clear, glowing skin often reduces feelings of self-consciousness and allows individuals to present themselves with assurance in social and professional settings. People who struggle with skin concerns such as acne, pigmentation, or dryness may experience insecurity, but consistent skincare helps alleviate these issues, leading to visible improvements. This transformation fosters a sense of accomplishment and pride, reinforcing the belief that one has control over their well-being. Confidence born from such progress is not superficial; it is skin deep rooted in the realisation that self-care yields tangible results.

Moreover, skincare routines instil discipline and mindfulness. The act of dedicating time daily to cleanse, hydrate, and protect the skin becomes a ritual of self-love that craves for more Likes! This discipline often extends into other areas of life, encouraging healthier habits such as balanced nutrition, adequate hydration, and stress management. In this way, skincare becomes a gateway to holistic wellness, shaping a personality that values consistency, patience, and responsibility. These traits are admired in both personal and professional spheres, making individuals more reliable and appealing.

Skincare also enhances one’s social presence. With the recent social media boom, looking good with glowing skin is rapidly gaining currency. When people feel good about their appearance, they are more likely to engage confidently in conversations, presentations, and interactions. This confidence translates into stronger communication skills and a more approachable demeanour. A person who radiates self-assurance through healthy skin often leaves a lasting impression, as his personality appears vibrant and well-rounded. In essence, skincare helps bridge the gap between inner self-worth and outward expression, allowing individuals to project authenticity and charisma.

Another important aspect is that skincare nurtures emotional well-being. The Art of applying creams, masks, or serums can be therapeutic, offering moments of relaxation amidst daily stress. This self-care ritual reinforces the importance of wellbeing. A calm and composed mind naturally reflects in personality. Thus, skincare is not just about external beauty but about cultivating inner peace that shines through in interactions with others. A word of caution. Overemphasis on portrayal of “Cosmetic Beauty” can drift and make a person stubborn and create a class-conscious society.

But, from a broader perspective, skincare symbolises respect for oneself. When individuals take pride in their appearance, they signal to the world that they value their identity. This love often inspires others, creating a ripple effect of positivity. A well-groomed personality, supported by healthy skin, conveys professionalism, attentiveness, and confidence.

Traits in Skincare

Cleansing routine: Washing away impurities twice a day is not just about hygiene; it reflects consistency and responsibility.
Personality impact: This habit builds discipline, showing that the individual values order and structure.
Moisturising routine: Hydrating the skin daily is an act of self-care that symbolises love toward oneself.
Personality impact: It fosters emotional well-being, making individuals more empathetic and balanced in their interactions.
Sunscreen application: Protecting the skin from harmful UV rays demonstrates care and responsibility.
Personality impact: This habit reflects long-term planning; a trait admired in leadership and decision-making roles.
Relaxing routines: Taking time for soothing rituals like aromatherapy or gentle massages reduces stress.
Personality impact: This enhances confidence, as a calm mind naturally projects assurance and positivity in social settings.

The Big Picture

When these routines are practiced consistently, they do more than improve skin health. Skincare becomes a bridge between physical well-being and psychological strength, allowing one’s personality to flourish in both private and public spheres. At the end of the day, more than skin deep, skincare bonds well with this often quoted saying “being in love makes you more beautiful” or best described by a Turkish idiom “Aşk insanı güzelleştirir” meaning “love makes a person beautiful”.

The primary pollutants of the haze, the PM2.5 and PM10 particles, are fine enough to skip past the skin’s surface, lodge into pores and, on compromised skin, worm deeper still.

Skincare tips for unhealthy air quality and haze season in Singapore

SINGAPORE – ‘Tis the season for watery eyes, a ticklish throat and weather-enabled introversion, thanks to the persistent haze. Smoke from forest fires in Indonesia has been blowing into Singapore for much of September, tipping air quality into the unhealthy range on some days – a first since October 2023.

You already know about the respiratory risks, but the skin is a lesser-known casualty of polluted air. In fact, the body’s largest organ and outermost barrier is the first and most directly exposed target, says Pamela Chong, an aesthetic physician at skincare clinic Epion Clinic.

PM2.5 and PM10 particles in the haze are small enough to penetrate the skin’s surface, lodge in pores, and, when the skin is compromised, travel even deeper. They can trigger an “inflammatory cascade” in the skin, warns Chong.

Ozone, another pollutant, reacts with squalene, an oil produced by the skin, to create irritating by-products linked to clogged pores, acne flare-ups and premature skin ageing.

Haze particles also carry polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which can set off a receptor in skin cells that increases pigment cell activity and activates an enzyme that breaks down collagen – in effect, ageing the skin chemically in the same way cigarette smoke does, Chong says.

With wildfires potentially continuing into early November, your skincare routine could benefit from some tweaking.

What are the most common effects of haze on skin?

Dryness and irritation in the form of itchiness, redness or increased sensitivity are the most common complaints, according to experts The Straits Times spoke to.

Pollutants disrupt the skin’s water barrier function, allowing moisture to escape. Dryness, itching and flaking can also affect the scalp, which receives the same exposure as the face.

Breakouts or clogged pores may become more noticeable, though the relationship between pollution and acne is less clear than some other inflammatory skin conditions, says dermatologist Coni Liu of skincare clinic DermAlly.

Nonetheless, particulate matter in the air increases sebum production and inflammatory biomarkers, which can cause acne flares and amplify inflammation driven by the bacterium Cutibacterium acnes.

Prolonged exposure can lead to pigmentation and accelerate visible ageing, with higher PM10 levels linked to more pigment spots and deeper nasolabial folds.

What skin types are more vulnerable?

People with sensitive, dry or easily irritated skin, or an already compromised skin barrier, are more likely to notice symptoms, as their skin is less resilient to environmental irritants, Liu says.

People with eczema or rosacea may experience worsening dryness, itchiness, redness or irritation during prolonged periods of exposure to poor air quality. Those with eczema have a disrupted skin barrier, so environmental pollutants and irritants can aggravate skin inflammation.

Chong says: “With a compromised barrier, moisture escapes and irritants enter more easily. Pollution further disturbs barrier proteins and stimulates inflammation. This can begin an itch-scratch cycle, with scratching causing even more barrier damage.”

She recommends that people with eczema moisturise regularly and keep prescribed flare treatments on hand, as pollution-triggered flares can escalate faster than typical ones. A flare that does not respond to standard treatment within a few days should be followed up with a doctor’s visit, Chong adds.

Dos and don’ts of haze season skincare

When adjusting one’s skincare routine, the priority is to protect and support the skin barrier, says Liu. A simple, gentle cleanser, followed by a moisturiser with barrier-protective ingredients and sunscreen, will suffice, she adds.

Go for products containing antioxidants such as vitamins E and C, as well as niacinamide, says Liu. She explains: “Ozone measurably depletes vitamin E from the skin surface, so replenishing it makes biochemical sense. Vitamin C is also the best-evidenced option for preventing inflammation and reducing pigmentation. Niacinamide supports cellular energy production and has been shown to reduce oxidative stress, inflammation and pigmentation.”

Look for moisturisers with barrier-supporting ingredients such as ceramides, glycerin or hyaluronic acid. Ceramides, frequently used in medicine for atopic dermatitis or dry skin, are one’s best bet.

A simple, gentle cleanser, followed by a moisturiser with barrier-protective ingredients and sunscreen, will suffice.

PHOTO: PEXELS

Hazy skies should not be mistaken for sun protection, Liu adds. Sunscreens with UVA and UVB protection are recommended, as ultraviolet rays and pollution can compound their effects on the skin.

The carcinogenic action of benzopyrene, a PAH abundant in wood smoke, is also worsened by UVA, says Chong.

She recommends avoiding harsh, stripping foam cleansers that wash away the skin’s natural barrier lipids. One should also hold off on aggressive exfoliation, chemical peels and trying strong active ingredients for the first time during this period.

If your skin is irritated or sensitive, Chong recommends suspending the use of strong acids, retinoids and benzoyl peroxide in topical acne treatments until the smoke clears.

But the most effective intervention during the haze period is not a special anti-pollution product or skincare routine – it is to reduce exposure.

A flare that does not respond to standard treatment within a few days should be followed up with a doctor’s visit, says Pamela Chong, an aesthetic physician at skincare clinic Epion Clinic.

PHOTO: EPION CLINIC

To help the skin, both doctors advise reducing outdoor exercise, keeping windows and doors closed, and using air-conditioning or air filtration to improve indoor air quality. Since air-conditioning can be drying, Chong suggests using a humidifier at home to increase moisture levels.

She says to shower and cleanse the skin thoroughly at night, especially after heavy outdoor exposure, as sweat and sebum can trap particles on the skin. Pollutants that cling to hair and clothing can also transfer directly onto pillowcases.

But avoid very hot showers, which can worsen dryness and irritation, warns Liu. Hydrating the body is good for health, but it will not flush pollution out of the skin, she cautions.

Skip heavy, long-wear make-up on the worst air quality days. Heavy powder and long-wear foundation can mix with sebum and trap particles against skin when worn, Chong says.

Post-haze aftercare

Breakouts or clogged pores may be more noticeable, though the relationship between pollution and acne is less clear than some other inflammatory skin conditions, says dermatologist Coni Liu of skincare clinic DermAlly.

PHOTO: DERMALLY

Once the skies clear, if your skin feels normal, go back to your usual skincare routine, Liu advises.

If it still feels dry and irritated, stick with a gentle cleanser and a repairing moisturiser, and continue using sunscreen. Avoid aggressive “detox” treatments such as harsh scrubs or exfoliation, as over-treating the skin may cause more barrier disruption and irritation. The goal is to return to your normal routine gradually, according to tolerance.

For most people, temporary irritation should settle as exposure decreases.

With all else constant, the skin barrier should return to normal within two to four weeks after the haze lifts, says Chong.

If you have a rash or acne that persists after air quality improves, there may be another trigger or an underlying skin condition that needs addressing, such as eczema or acne, she notes.

GLOWBAR AND REMEDY PARTNER TO CONNECT THE PROFESSIONAL FACIAL WITH THE AT-HOME SKINCARE ROUTINE

GLOWBAR AND REMEDY PARTNER TO CONNECT THE PROFESSIONAL FACIAL WITH THE AT-HOME SKINCARE ROUTINE

Glowbar and Dr. Muneeb Shah’s dermatologist-created skincare brand come together to pair personalized professional facials with advanced skincare, including REMEDY’s new 15% Azelaic Acid Advanced Clarifying Serum.

NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Glowbar and REMEDY announce a new partnership designed to create a more connected skincare experience, bringing together the expertise of the professional facial with the dermatologist-created products consumers use at home.

GLOWBAR AND REMEDY PARTNER TO CONNECT THE PROFESSIONAL FACIAL WITH THE AT-HOME SKINCARE ROUTINE

From September 22 through October 22, the two brands will partner on a limited-time experience incorporating two REMEDY formulas into every customized Glowbar facial: the NEW 15% Azelaic Acid Advanced Clarifying Serum and REMEDY’s bestselling Dark Circle Reducing Advanced Eye Cream.

The partnership brings together two complementary approaches to making expert skincare more accessible. Glowbar has built its business around personalized, professional facials delivered in 30 minutes, while REMEDY was founded by double board-certified dermatologist Dr. Muneeb Shah to translate dermatological expertise into advanced, approachable skincare for everyday routines.

Together, Glowbar and REMEDY are connecting two parts of the skincare experience that are often treated separately: what happens in the treatment room and what happens after you leave it.

FROM THE DERMATOLOGIST’S OFFICE TO THE TREATMENT ROOM
A facial doesn’t end when a client leaves the treatment room. Skin has been professionally assessed and treated, making the products that follow an important part of the overall experience.

That shared insight became the starting point for the Glowbar x REMEDY partnership. Dr. Shah worked closely with Glowbar’s CEO and Founder Rachel Liverman to identify two REMEDY formulas to complement the final stage of its professional treatments, with a focus on delivering targeted results while respecting freshly treated skin.

At the center of the partnership is REMEDY’s new 15% Azelaic Acid Advanced Clarifying Serum, a formulation breakthrough that reimagines how high-strength azelaic acid can be delivered. The serum features a fully solubilized 15% azelaic acid complex in an elegant, water-light format, overcoming the grittiness, heaviness, and formulation limitations that have historically made high-concentration azelaic acid difficult to work with. Developed without propylene glycol or alcohol, the formula delivers a dermatologist-trusted ingredient at a meaningful concentration without compromising on texture, layering, or tolerability. Backed by robust in vivo and ex vivo clinical studies, the serum is designed to visibly reduce redness, fade the appearance of dark spots and improve overall skin clarity, making it particularly suited to the post-facial moment.

Story Continues

Professional treatments and at-home skincare should work together, not exist in separate worlds,” said Dr. Muneeb Shah, double board-certified dermatologist and Founder of REMEDY. “Glowbar has made professional skincare more accessible and easier to incorporate into a regular routine, which made this partnership a natural fit. Education is central to REMEDY, and this experience gives clients the opportunity to learn about the formula from a trusted esthetician, experience it during their treatment, and then understand how to incorporate it into their routine at home.”

Throughout the experience, Glowbar’s expert estheticians will bring the partnership to life through the brand’s signature customized facial experience, incorporating the REMEDY formulas based on each client’s skin and treatment while providing education around the ingredients, their benefits and why they have been selected for that point in the facial.

“We took the facial out of the derm office, and now we’re putting the derm back in the facial,” said Rachel Liverman, Founder & CEO of Glowbar. “At Glowbar, professional skincare created by experts isn’t just important to us, it’s everything. We’re driven by making professional skincare more accessible, and a partnership with Dr. Shah and REMEDY was a natural fit. I’ve been working closely with Dr. Shah to select the products that will best support Glowbar clients after their facials, so they can get even more out of their results, and I’m so excited for everyone to try it.”

Image-EVERQ-launches-microdrama-series-‘So-Dermatic-MediaBrief.jpg

EVERQ launches skincare microdrama

EVERQ, the personalized skin health platform from Puresta, has launched “So Dermatic!”, an original 12-episode microdrama IP that brings everyday skincare chaos into the world of entertainment.

The move marks EVERQ’s foray into entertainment-led brand storytelling, using a format increasingly becoming part of how audiences consume short-form fiction. Rather than building a conventional skincare campaign around products, routines or idealized beauty, EVERQ has created a fictional world where the everyday drama surrounding skin becomes the story.

Set inside an EVERQ dermatology clinic, “So Dermatic!” takes familiar Indian skincare behaviors, beliefs and anxieties and turns them into short, humorous slice-of-life episodes through character led storytelling. From home remedies and social-media hacks to late-night Google searches, AI-generated advice, filters and the belief that drinking more water can solve every skin problem, the series draws from situations audiences are likely to recognize.

At the heart of the IP is a recurring cast comprising a dermatologist, a receptionist, a Gen Z intern and a cleaning lady. The characters create a consistent clinic universe where patients, internet wisdom, family advice and everyday skincare confusion come together.

The series opens with “Don’t Put Skin in the Game”, where glowing skin unexpectedly becomes a workplace problem.

The 11 episodes that follow include “Mummy Alert”, “Tunak Tunak Treatment”, “Mehnat ka Pimple”, “The AI-dentity Crisis”, “Farm to Face”, “Sensitive Subject”, “The B&W Beauty Hack”, “Jal Lijiye”, “Clean Breakup”, “Who Took the Credit… Who, Who, Who?” and “Acne Ki Supari”, with each story exploring a different skincare behavior, concern or misconception presented in a light, funny mobile first series.

Hitaysh Dhingraa, Co-Founder and CEO, Puresta, said, “Skincare has moved beyond the traditional beauty aisle. People discover, discuss and debate it through reels, creators, search, AI, family advice and entertainment. We wanted EVERQ to participate in that behavior rather than simply advertise into it.”

“With ‘So Dermatic!’, we are creating entertainment around the conversations people are already having about their skin. The idea is to make dermatologist-led skincare more relatable and culturally relevant, while building a brand property that can grow over time,” Dhingraa added.

The creative approach moves away from the conventional language of skincare advertising, where products, routines and perfect-skin imagery typically dominate. Instead, “So Dermatic!” draws from everyday situations including workplace conversations, family dynamics, dating, social media behavior, internet culture and Indian jugaad.

The microdrama format also allows EVERQ to build an ongoing entertainment IP rather than a one-off campaign. The recurring clinic setting and characters create a flexible storytelling universe through which the brand can continue to explore emerging skincare behaviors, cultural trends and consumer conversations.

With “So Dermatic!”, EVERQ is expanding its communication beyond conventional product-led advertising to create an entertainment property around the way people live, talk and think about skincare.

The series is now live on EVERQ official Instagram. Watch and join the conversation.

Skincare for beautiful skin|CN ひつじのぷー

Summary

For those mature skin concerns where you feel like ‘nothing I use makes a difference,’ Jullants, developed by cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Etsuko Takasu, provides the answer. With ingredients based on dermatological science, such as 3-ceramides and EGF, it restores the skin’s barrier function, allowing you to replicate clinic-grade anti-aging care at home. With logical care, move toward a skincare routine without hesitation. Why not start investing in your future self today, so you can look forward to looking in the mirror?

Jullants, developed by Dr. Etsuko Takasu! Anti-aging techniques for beautiful skin

Since passing my 30s, I have increasingly felt changes in my skin every time I look in the mirror, thinking, ‘Something is different from yesterday.’ Even after trying expensive serums, I struggled to feel the firmness and moisture I expected, leading to days of uncertainty in my skincare choices. I imagine many people share similar concerns. Especially when living a busy life with work and family, finding the time to visit a clinic is a struggle.

At such times, I arrived at ‘Jullants,’ a doctor’s cosmetic line developed by cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Etsuko Takasu. Skincare created by a specialist who faced her own skin concerns and packed with dermatological knowledge had a logical sense of reliability that sets it apart from general cosmetics. Once I actually started using it, I realized the importance of preparing the foundation of the skin, and my way of thinking about daily skincare changed significantly.

In this article, I will introduce everything from basic dermatological knowledge, such as the roles of ‘3-ceramides’ and the growth factor ‘EGF’ that I personally tried and felt the effects of, to specific methods for replicating clinic-quality care at home even during busy days. Instead of being swayed by information on the internet, I have compiled tips for identifying what your skin needs and continuing care with conviction. Correct anti-aging care derived by specialists By incorporating this, let’s unravel together the kind of positive habits that will allow you to have confidence in your skin years from now.

Ingredient design based on dermatological science: Why Jullants is chosen

The importance of ‘3-ceramides’ and barrier function that Dr. Etsuko Takasu arrived at

As I have aged, I have increasingly felt dryness and a lack of firmness in my skin, even when using the same cosmetics as before. Especially while wishing to maintain ideal skin while being chased by the busyness of every day from my 30s to 50s, what I arrived at was a focus on ingredients based on dermatological science. When choosing doctor’s cosmetics like Jullants in particular, I place importance on the perspective of ‘barrier function.’

The skin’s barrier function plays a very important role in blocking external stimuli in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, and preventing moisture from escaping from the inside. When Dr. Etsuko Takasu experienced severe skin irritation herself, she became convinced that maintaining this barrier function normally is the shortcut to healthy skin. That is where the power of ceramides was focused on.

Ceramides are the main component of intercellular lipids that fill the gaps between keratinocytes, and they exist like a ‘wall’ to hold in the skin’s moisture and repel external stimuli. However, ceramides decrease due to aging, stress, and incorrect skincare. This is where the ‘3-ceramide’ concept recommended by Jullants products comes into play. By supplementing three different types of ceramides, you can efficiently fill gaps that cannot be covered by a single ingredient and organize the structure of the stratum corneum.

Actually, when I incorporated skincare with this ingredient composition during a period when my skin was dry and sensitive, I felt the roughness on the skin surface decrease and change to a moist texture. Previously, I was concerned about fine lines and uneven texture every time I looked in the mirror, but by adjusting the barrier function, I feel that the skin’s inherent water-retention capacity is being drawn out.

Specifically, by using a lotion containing ceramide ingredients immediately after washing your face, you complete a foundation that supports the penetration of subsequent serums and creams. In my case, by layering Refine Rich Lotion, the dullness caused by dryness was alleviated, and I no longer worry about skin fatigue in the evening. Because there is scientific backing, there is no hesitation in daily skincare, and I get a sense of fulfillment as if my home care is approaching clinic quality.

Ceramide cosmetics are, so to speak, an ‘investment’ to enhance the skin’s repair power. By understanding and using the mechanism that protects against external stimuli and maintains internal moisture, the efficiency of anti-aging care changes significantly. Carefully selecting ingredients with logical backing and delivering them to the skin with care. I feel that this simple repetition is the best shortcut to supporting the skin of the future.

Adjusting the skin’s barrier function is the foundation of all skincare and can be said to be the core for maintaining healthy firmness. By understanding the medical intent behind the ingredients, you should be able to maximize the value of the products you are currently using and regain confidence in your own skin.

Growth factor EGF leads the way! The truth about anti-aging care to regain firmness and elasticity

While realizing the importance of adjusting the barrier function, since passing my 30s, I have keenly felt that ‘the skin’s repair speed is slower than before.’ The lack of firmness and dullness I feel every time I look in the mirror. When facing such serious signs of aging, what I arrived at from dermatological knowledge was the existence of ‘growth factors.’ Growth factors, represented in particular by EGF cosmetics, are a key factor in normalizing skin turnover and supporting the power to become beautiful on its own.

Growth factors are a type of protein that originally exists in the body and play a role like a command center that promotes the generation of new cells. Since this secretion amount decreases with age, supplementing it with skincare is a shortcut to anti-aging care. When I picked up a product developed by specialist Dr. Etsuko Takasu, I deeply empathized with the idea of approaching the fundamental regeneration cycle of the skin rather than just moisturizing. If you are aiming to improve your skin quality, checking whether ingredients based on such scientific evidence are included is the best shortcut, rather than choosing by feeling.

When I actually incorporated Jullants products, the first thing that surprised me was the change in the skin’s feeling of adhesion. For example, the morning after using ‘Refine Rich Lotion,’ I felt an elasticity as if the skin after washing was being pushed back from the inside. I feel that this is proof that growth factors are raising the skin’s basic strength and ceramides are firmly protecting that foundation. The trick to using it is to deliver these functional ingredients to the skin first thing after washing your face. The time spent hand-pressing to wrap the entire face with your palms and letting it penetrate slowly gives a sense of fulfillment as if you are receiving clinic care while at home.

The reason you should choose doctor-developed cosmetics supervised by a specialist is not simply because the ingredients are luxurious. It is because a doctor who fully understands skin mechanisms has calculated exactly which ingredients should be layered in what order to elicit the most efficient results. For someone like me who is busy with work and cannot find the time to visit a clinic, knowing that my daily skincare routine at the bathroom sink is an extension of medical treatment provides great peace of mind. Do not be swayed by advertising copy; first, try re-evaluating your items from the perspective of ‘normalizing your skin’s turnover.’ I recommend starting with a lotion and incorporating the power of growth factors into your daily habit.

Practical Skincare to Experience Clinic Quality at Home

How to Use Refine Rich Lotion to Maximize Its Effects

To make the most of ‘Jullants Refine Rich Lotion’ in your daily skincare, it is essential not just to apply it, but to be mindful of preparing your skin to receive it. Because this lotion is luxuriously formulated with ingredients, it is more important to carefully allow it to penetrate according to your skin’s condition than to apply a large amount at once. A technique I have practiced and found particularly effective is ‘press application,’ where you warm your palms before gently wrapping them around your entire face.

First, regarding the basic application amount, a good guideline is to take an amount the size of a 500-yen coin into your palms. Instead of spreading this over your face immediately, warm it slightly with your fingertips, then use a hand-press motion from the inside of your face outward, starting with large areas like your cheeks and forehead. Friction is the greatest enemy of skin, so never rub; instead, imagine pushing the ingredients in using only the adhesion of your palms.

As a tip for layering to accelerate skin quality improvement, please try ‘applying in two stages’ during seasons when dryness is a concern or at night when a loss of firmness is noticeable. First, blend it over your entire face, and after you feel that the stratum corneum is filled with moisture, gently layer a small amount with your fingertips on areas prone to dryness, such as around the eyes and mouth. With this extra step, you will find it easier to feel a plump elasticity from within the skin.

As a specific anecdote, there was a time when I was so busy that I would just slap lotion onto my face. However, once I became conscious of the ‘effective way to use doctor’s cosmetics’ advocated by Dr. Etsuko Takasu and changed my approach to cherish the time I spend touching my skin, my skin texture improved, and I stopped worrying about dullness in the evening. By checking the temperature and texture of your skin transmitted through your fingertips, you can grasp your skin’s condition for the day and perform care that is neither too much nor too little.

What I want you to be especially conscious of is not missing the signs of what your skin wants most. When layering, if your skin feels moist and sticks to your hands, that is proof that sufficient moisture has been distributed. It is not that you should force yourself to apply a lot; just by having the intention of delivering beauty ingredients to every corner of the stratum corneum, your skincare at home will change surprisingly. This small daily habit should build a foundation like the careful care you receive at a clinic. Starting today, please try taking just 5 seconds longer to press your face.

A Sustainable Skin Improvement Routine Even for Busy Days!

In days filled with work and family, it is a daunting task to perfectly continue careful care like visiting a clinic every day. I myself have had nights where I used busyness as an excuse to neglect my skincare and sighed while looking in the mirror. However, after learning about the ‘simple care based on dermatology’ advocated by Dr. Etsuko Takasu, my way of thinking changed significantly. The essence of skin improvement skincare is not to layer many expensive cosmetics, but to protect the barrier function that serves as the foundation of the skin and efficiently deliver necessary ingredients.

As an efficient anti-aging step from your 30s, I have adopted a ‘subtraction’ mindset. Instead of being greedy and wanting everything, first prepare the skin’s pathways with a booster after washing your face, then approach your concerns with a serum. This is enough. Especially since I became conscious of clinic-quality care that can be done at home, my night care has turned into a healing time. For example, just by blending a high-performance lotion like Refine Rich Lotion into your skin by pressing it in with your palms in several stages, you can feel a definite change in skin texture.

Also, as a total routine that includes measures for sensitive skin and dullness, what I value most is ‘reducing friction.’ When busy, it is easy to apply skincare with force, but skin is very delicate. Even when applying lotion, gently wrap it with warm palms instead of using cotton. Just by doing this, the burden on the skin is reduced surprisingly. As a specific anecdote, I used to suffer from dryness and dullness and tried to hide it with thick foundation, but since I started this careful press application, I have felt a firmness that glows from within the skin, and my makeup itself has become lighter.

The trick to continuing without strain even in busy days is to keep the ‘number of steps’ in your skincare to a minimum. Rather than using many items, using products from a trusted brand in a line and concentrating on preparing the skin’s barrier function will result in a very high time-to-effect ratio. Recommended doctor’s cosmetics When choosing products, please check the ingredient list carefully rather than the glamour of the packaging. By choosing products that clearly contain ingredients your skin currently needs, such as growth factors or ceramides, you will no longer be lost in your daily care.

Skin quality does not change overnight, but by accumulating appropriate ingredients as a daily habit, your future skin will definitely change. Logical care based on clinical knowledge is by no means difficult. Communicating with your own skin, avoiding excessive stimulation, and facing it carefully one step at a time. I realize that this accumulation is the only path to maintaining beauty for a long time. Starting today, please try increasing the time you spend caring for yourself, beginning by gently wrapping your skin with your palms.

The Accumulation of Dermatology Nurtures Future Skin

Up to this point, I have talked about the importance of care based on dermatological knowledge. I myself have also re-evaluated the skincare I was choosing somewhat aimlessly, and since I started being conscious of my skin’s condition and the necessary ingredients, my way of facing my skin has changed significantly. Preparing the skin’s barrier function and incorporating ingredients that support cells, such as growth factors, is by no means a detour.
