Naturals Beauty marks 18 years with 2 new skincare products

Local skincare brand Naturals Beauty is marking its 18th anniversary with two new locally made products, expanding its offering with a peptide-focused facial serum and a botanical body oil ahead of the summer season.

Founded in a South African mother’s kitchen, Naturals Beauty has grown into a local skincare business built around naturally inspired ingredients, local manufacturing and uncomplicated formulations.

The latest launches — the Re-Gen Peptide Power Serum and Botanical Body Oil — extend the brand’s offering from targeted facial care to everyday body care.

“Eighteen years ago, Naturals Beauty started because I wanted products I felt comfortable using on my own family,” says founder Tanya du Bois. “That belief in effective, uncomplicated skincare has never changed.”

A science-led addition to the range

The Re-Gen Peptide Power Serum introduces a more targeted approach to facial skincare, centred on a 2% biotechnology-derived peptide active produced using plant-based biotechnology.

The formula also contains Copper Tripeptide-1 and Malachite Extract, combining peptide technology with antioxidant and skin-conditioning ingredients. Designed for all skin types, including sensitive skin, the lightweight, fragrance-free serum can be incorporated into morning or evening skincare routines.

The product is positioned around smoother, firmer-looking and more resilient skin, while keeping application relatively simple — applied after cleansing and before moisturiser and sunscreen.

Botanical body care for summer

The Botanical Body Oil takes the brand’s approach into body care, combining Sweet Almond, Jojoba and Baobab oils with Neroli, Rose Geranium and Sweet Orange essential oils.

The fast-absorbing formulation is designed to nourish dry skin without leaving a heavy residue. The brand is positioning it as a summer-friendly addition to daily routines, particularly following activities such as swimming and shaving or exposure to sun and air conditioning.

The oil can be applied to slightly damp skin after bathing or showering to help retain moisture.

From kitchen beginnings to local skincare brand

Naturals Beauty was established 18 years ago after founder du Bois began making skincare products at home for her family.

That focus on accessible, locally produced skincare remains central to the business as it expands its product portfolio.

“We’ve learnt so much over 18 years, but I still come back to the same question when we develop something new: does this product have a genuine place in someone’s routine?” says du Bois.

“Beauty can become incredibly complicated. We want Naturals Beauty to be the opposite of that. Good ingredients, considered formulations and products that people actually enjoy using.”

Both new products launched on 23 August 2026 and are available through the Naturals Beauty online store and selected stockists nationwide.

The launches give the brand an opportunity to mark its anniversary while responding to two established areas of consumer skincare demand: more targeted facial treatments and simplified body-care routines.

Skincare products arranged in the order they should be applied during a skincare routine

What order should products go in?

Choosing the right skincare products is only half the story. How you layer them matters too.

From applying lightweight actives before richer creams to knowing when skin should be damp or dry, the correct order helps every step of your routine work more effectively.

You’ve got the cleanser, the clever serum, the moisturiser your skin loves and an SPF you actually remember to wear.

But there’s one detail that might be quietly undoing all that good work: skincare layering.

Because using the right products is only half the story. Using them in the right order matters too.

The skincare layering rule that makes everything easier

As a general rule, skincare should move from the thinnest texture to the thickest, while also considering what each product is designed to do.

The basic order is:

  1. Cleanser
  2. Corrective or active serums
  3. Hydrating serums
  4. Moisturiser or barrier support
  5. Sunscreen in the morning

Why the pecking order?

Lightweight actives need direct access to the skin, while richer creams help create a protective layer.

Apply those heavier products too early and they can reduce the penetration of whatever comes next.

Think of it less as adding more steps and more as putting the ones you already have in the right order.

How long should you wait between skincare products?

Here’s where skincare layering gets surprisingly easy.

For most products, there’s no need to wait 10, 20 or 30 minutes between steps.

Once a product has been spread evenly and is no longer wet on the surface, you can generally move on. This is usually within 30 seconds to two minutes.

After applying a more active product, such as a retinoid, waiting one to two minutes before following with ceramides or a barrier-repair product can be particularly useful.

Should you apply skincare to damp or dry skin?

Not every product wants the same starting point.

Hyaluronic acid, hydrating peptide serums, moisturisers and barrier-repair products work well when applied to slightly damp skin.

Corrective actives require a little more thought.

Layering retinoids with strong exfoliating acids, or combining multiple exfoliating acids too aggressively, can compromise the skin barrier and increase irritation.

Don’t overcomplicate your skincare routine

Skin cycling can be useful when juggling multiple actives, particularly for sensitive skin, beginners or anyone with an impaired skin barrier.

But your foundational routine, including cleanser, antioxidants, actives, moisturiser or barrier support and sunscreen, should remain consistent.

Stronger corrective ingredients, such as retinoids and exfoliating acids, can then be adjusted according to your skin’s tolerance or the time of day.

Because great skincare isn’t about owning the most products.

It’s about using the right products, in the right order, consistently.

Can expensive products slow ageing? Dermatologist debunks 5 skincare myths

Can expensive products slow ageing? Dermatologist debunks 5 skincare myths

Anti-ageing skincare is surrounded by misconceptions, with everyone offering their two cents and skincare aisles overflowing with products. Amid all this noise, it is best to take a step back and look at skincare with renewed clarity instead of blindly following marketing hype.

Dr Rinky Kapoor, director and co-founder of The Esthetic Clinics, shared that ageing is a natural process, but social media narratives can sometimes complicate how we approach it.

She said, “From believing that an anti-ageing regimen should only be started after reaching a certain age to assuming that using more products will lead to better results, there are several misconceptions about skincare that may make routines ineffective or excessive.”

Therefore, following age-based rules or piling on multiple products may backfire. Instead, skincare should be simple, consistent, and tailored to the skin’s individual needs.

Here’s a set of myths that she debunked with relevant facts:

Myth 1: An anti-ageing skincare regimen should only be started after the age of 40

  • Skin ageing begins well before the appearance of visible wrinkles.
  • The skin produces collagen, which gradually decreases with age, while exposure to the sun and other environmental factors may accelerate the ageing process.

Myth 2: Wrinkles are the sole indication of ageing on the face

  • The ageing process is much broader than just the formation of wrinkles.
  • Changes in collagen and elastin levels, pigmentation, texture, elasticity, hydration, as well as facial volume and contours, can all affect how the face looks over time.
  • This is why an effective anti-ageing approach should focus on overall skin quality, rather than just wrinkles.

Myth 3: Expensive skincare products provide better anti-ageing results

  • Cost does not necessarily determine the efficacy of a product. What truly matters is its formulation, active ingredients, concentration and suitability for your skin type and concerns.
  • An effective skincare regimen using simple products with scientifically proven ingredients can be more beneficial than constantly experimenting with expensive formulations.

Myth 4: Multiple anti-ageing products are needed to achieve better results

  • This myth stems from the idea that using more products will lead to better results.
  • But applying too many ingredients, acids or exfoliators at once can cause irritation and compromise the skin barrier.
  • It is better to build a simple skincare routine and gradually introduce active ingredients into it.

Myth 5: Aesthetic procedures can replace good skincare and healthy lifestyle choices

  • Aesthetic treatments can target specific concerns; however, they cannot replace the basics of good skincare and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Using sunscreen, getting adequate rest, maintaining proper nutrition, exercising, managing stress and following a consistent skincare regimen are essential for healthy ageing.
  • Aesthetic treatments should be tailored to an individual’s physical characteristics, skin concerns and expectations.

Hyderabad: The monsoon may bring relief from the scorching summer, but it also brings a new set of skincare challenges. Increased humidity, sudden showers, pollution and constant temperature changes can leave skin feeling oily, dehydrated or irritated all at once. The key to healthy skin during this season is choosing products that hydrate without feeling heavy, cleanse effectively and protect the skin barrier. Pamela Anderson reveals the four skincare products she swears by at 59

Pamela Anderson reveals the four skincare products she swears by at 59

For decades, Pamela Anderson was synonymous with glamorous Hollywood beauty. Today, however, the 59-year-old actress and model is redefining what beauty looks like by embracing simplicity, self-acceptance and healthy skin over perfection.

In an era dominated by elaborate 10-step skincare routines, cosmetic enhancements and social media beauty trends, Anderson has become an unlikely champion of minimalist skincare.

Her philosophy is refreshingly straightforward: healthy, hydrated skin doesn’t require dozens of products or hours in front of the mirror.

“Less is more,” she says – a mantra that has become the foundation of both her skincare routine and her outlook on ageing.

Beauty begins with acceptance

Rather than viewing ageing as something to resist, Anderson sees it as a natural part of life.

She has repeatedly spoken about rejecting unrealistic beauty standards, choosing instead to care for her skin rather than trying to erase every sign of time.

Instead of referring to the process as ageing, she prefers to call it “life-ing” – embracing each stage of life with confidence and authenticity.

Her message resonates with women who are increasingly seeking realistic, sustainable approaches to beauty instead of unattainable ideals.

Pamela Anderson’s four skincare essentials

After launching her own vegan skincare line featuring just four products, Anderson explained that effective skincare doesn’t have to be complicated.

Her routine focuses on nourishing the skin barrier and maintaining long-lasting hydration.

1. A nourishing lip balm

Lips are often one of the first areas to show visible signs of ageing because they contain no oil glands and have thinner skin than the rest of the face.

Anderson recommends keeping lips continuously hydrated with a nourishing balm. Ingredients such as peptides, hyaluronic acid and collagen can help soften fine lines while improving moisture and giving lips a fuller, smoother appearance over time.

Regular use also helps protect lips from environmental damage and prevents dryness throughout the day.

2. A gentle cleanser

No matter the season, Anderson believes cleansing should remain gentle and consistent.

She washes her face morning and evening using a cleanser formulated with soothing botanical ingredients such as aloe vera, ginger root extract and bisabolol.

These ingredients help calm redness, remove impurities and maintain the skin’s natural moisture barrier without stripping away essential oils.

For mature skin, harsh cleansers can contribute to dryness and sensitivity, making a mild formula a far better choice.

3. A hydrating serum

One of Anderson’s biggest skincare priorities is ensuring her skin feels healthy, calm and comfortable.

Immediately after cleansing, she applies a serum while her skin is still slightly damp to maximise hydration.

Serums deliver concentrated active ingredients deeper into the skin than traditional moisturisers.

For mature skin, ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants and niacinamide can help address concerns including dehydration, uneven skin tone, fine lines and loss of elasticity.

4. A rich moisturising cream

If there is one lesson Anderson wishes she had learnt earlier, it is the importance of hydration.

A good moisturising cream locks in moisture, strengthens the skin barrier and helps reduce dryness – one of the most common concerns associated with mature skin.

A richer cream can also double as an overnight treatment, allowing the skin to recover while you sleep and leaving it feeling softer and more supple by morning.

The makeup-free moment that changed the conversation

Paris Fashion Week became the backdrop for one of Anderson’s most talked-about beauty moments when she attended several Spring/Summer shows in October 2023 completely makeup-free.

Appearing bare-faced at presentations including those by Vivienne Westwood, Victoria Beckham and Isabel Marant, Anderson challenged conventional red carpet expectations and sparked global conversations about natural beauty.

She later explained that she simply no longer wanted to spend hours in a makeup chair or compete with unrealistic beauty standards.

Instead, she chose authenticity, finding freedom in showing the world her natural face.

Confidence over perfection

Perhaps Anderson’s greatest beauty secret has nothing to do with skincare products at all.

She has openly shared that she no longer measures herself against her younger self or feels pressured to chase eternal youth.

Instead, she believes that confidence comes from within and that caring for your skin should be about comfort, health and self-respect rather than perfection.

Her approach serves as a reminder that ageing gracefully is less about turning back the clock and more about embracing every chapter with confidence.

Ingredients to look for in your skincare products

Ingredients to look for in your skincare products

PICTURE: PEXELS/ SKIN CARE

Walking down the skincare aisle or scrolling through beauty websites can feel overwhelming. With countless products promising glowing, youthful and healthy skin, knowing which ingredients actually benefit your skin can help you make more informed choices.

While everyone’s skin is different, the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AADA) says certain ingredients have been extensively researched and can support a range of skincare concerns, from dryness and acne to ageing and hyperpigmentation.

Hyaluronic acid for hydration

According to the AADA, hyaluronic acid is one of the most popular skincare ingredients because it helps the skin retain moisture, making it an excellent option for people with dry, dehydrated or ageing skin.

Benefits of hyaluronic acid include:

  • Improved skin hydration
  • Reduced appearance of fine lines
  • Enhanced skin elasticity
  • A smoother, plumper complexion

Because it attracts and retains water, hyaluronic acid can benefit most skin types, including sensitive skin.

Retinoids for anti-ageing and acne

The above-mentioned source notes that retinoids, which are derived from vitamin A, are among the most studied ingredients in skincare and are known for promoting cell turnover and stimulating collagen production.

Retinoids may help:

  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improve skin texture
  • Treat acne
  • Fade hyperpigmentation
  • Support collagen production

Because retinoids can cause irritation, experts recommend introducing them gradually and using sunscreen daily.

Vitamin C for brightening and protection

According to Cleveland Clinic, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from environmental damage while promoting a brighter complexion.

Potential benefits include:

  • Reducing the appearance of dark spots
  • Supporting collagen production
  • Brightening uneven skin tone
  • Protecting against environmental stressors

Many dermatologists recommend applying vitamin C serum in the morning before sunscreen.

Niacinamide for multiple skin concerns

The above source says niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, has become increasingly popular because of its versatility and suitability for many skin types.

Benefits of niacinamide may include:

  • Reducing redness and inflammation
  • Improving skin barrier function
  • Minimising the appearance of pores
  • Regulating oil production
  • Helping fade hyperpigmentation

Its gentle nature makes it a good option for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Ceramides for skin barrier health

According to the National Eczema Association, ceramides are lipids naturally found in the skin that help maintain the skin barrier and retain moisture.

Products containing ceramides can help:

  • Restore the skin barrier
  • Reduce dryness
  • Improve moisture retention
  • Protect against environmental irritants

Dermatologists often recommend ceramide-based products for people with dry, sensitive or eczema-prone skin.

Salicylic acid for acne-prone skin

The AADA explains that salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) commonly used to treat acne and clogged pores because it helps exfoliate the skin and remove excess oil.

Benefits include:

  • Exfoliating dead skin cells
  • Unclogging pores
  • Reducing blackheads and whiteheads
  • Helping control excess oil

Because it penetrates oil, salicylic acid is particularly beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin types.

Glycerin for moisture retention

According to the above source, glycerin is a humectant that draws water into the outer layer of the skin, helping maintain hydration and supporting the skin barrier.

Benefits include:

  • Improved skin hydration
  • Strengthened skin barrier function
  • Relief from dryness
  • Support for healthy-looking skin

It is commonly found in moisturisers, cleansers and serums.

Sunscreen ingredients for protection

The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to help protect against harmful UV rays that contribute to skin cancer, premature ageing and hyperpigmentation.

Common active ingredients include zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which are often recommended for sensitive skin.

Choosing what’s right for your skin

Not every ingredient works for every person, and introducing too many active ingredients at once can sometimes irritate the skin. Understanding your skin type and concerns can help you choose products that are more likely to meet your needs.

As the AADA advises, consulting a dermatologist can help you develop a skincare routine that is safe, effective and tailored to your individual skin goals.

How to Get Even Skin Tone: Remedies, Products and Routines

Dark spots, red patches, and dull skin are frustrating. If you have been wondering how to get an even skin tone, you are not alone.

Uneven skin tone is one of the most common skincare concerns in the US, and real solutions exist.

This article covers everything you need: the best home remedies for even skin tone, top cosmetic products backed by research, and a clear daily skincare routine for even skin tone that you can start right now.

No confusing science, no overpriced steps. Just a simple, honest plan that works.

What Causes Uneven Skin Tone?

Before you fix a problem, it helps to understand what caused it. Uneven skin tone occurs when your skin produces more melanin in some areas than in others.

That extra melanin shows up as dark patches, discoloration, or dull-looking areas that stand out from the rest of your face or body.

Your skin makes melanin as a defense response. Sun exposure, inflammation, and irritation all trigger that response.

The result is color that looks patchy, blotchy, or uneven across your face or body. Some spots may look brown or gray. Others may look red or purple.

The good news is that understanding the cause helps you pick the right fix and stop the problem from getting worse over time.

The Most Common Triggers

Several things can push your skin to overproduce melanin. Sun exposure is the biggest one.

According to Harvard Health’s guide on hyperpigmentation and sun damage, UV rays from the sun are the most common cause of hyperpigmentation, the medical term for dark spots and uneven skin tone.

Other common triggers include:

  • Acne and breakouts that leave post-acne marks behind
  • Hormonal changes, especially during pregnancy or while on birth control
  • Skin irritation from harsh products or rubbing too hard
  • Repeated friction from tight clothing or rough fabrics

Why this Matters for Your Routine

Once you know your triggers, you can stop making the problem worse. For most US readers, sun exposure and old breakouts are the two biggest causes.

That means daily sunscreen is not optional. It is the single most important step in preventing new dark spots from forming.

What does Even Skin Tone Actually Look Like?

Even skin tone does not mean perfect, filter-smooth skin. It means your skin looks balanced and consistent.

Light and dark patches are less visible. Redness has calmed down. Dull spots have brightened up. Your skin looks like yours, just clearer and healthier.

Realistic Expectations

Many people expect overnight results, but that is not how skin works.

Most pigmentation takes weeks or months to fade because your skin needs time to replace old, discolored cells with fresh ones.

The readers who see the best results are the ones who stay consistent with a simple routine rather than switching products every two weeks.

If your spots are deep or have been there for years, you may also need stronger over-the-counter products or a visit to a dermatologist.

Home care works well for mild to moderate uneven skin tone, but stubborn melasma or long-standing sun damage may require professional treatment.

Home Remedies for Even Skin Tone

Home remedies work best when they support your main skincare routine rather than replace it.

The strongest natural options are the ones that soothe inflammation, gently exfoliate dead skin, or provide antioxidant support.

Here are the best ones to try.

1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera calms inflammation that leads to dark marks and post-acne discoloration.

It works for nearly every skin type without irritating.

Because inflamed skin is far more likely to leave marks, keeping skin calm with aloe vera helps improve long-term tone.

It is gentle enough for daily use and easy to find at any US drugstore.

How to Use It:

  1. Apply pure aloe vera gel onto clean, dry skin.
  2. Leave on for fifteen to twenty minutes, then rinse with cool water.
  3. Use up to five times a week.

Best For: Sensitive skin, post-acne marks, redness, and inflammation-triggered dark spots.

Rating: 9/10 It cools down angry skin, stops new dark spots from forming, and is safe enough to use almost every day without irritating your skin at all.

2. Turmeric and Honey Mask

Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may interfere with excess melanin production.

Honey draws moisture into the skin and helps keep the skin barrier comfortable. Together, they make one of the most well-researched natural masks for uneven skin tone.

Consistent use makes a real visible difference in brightness and tone balance over four to six weeks.

How to Use It:

  1. Mix one teaspoon of turmeric with two teaspoons of raw honey.
  2. Apply to your face, leave on for ten minutes, then rinse.
  3. Use once or twice a week.

Best For: Dull skin, dry and irritated skin, and overall brightness.

Rating: 8/10 Turmeric fights dark spots while honey keeps skin moist and calm. It just ranked below aloe because it can stain your skin and clothes yellow.

3. Yogurt

Plain yogurt contains lactic acid, a mild alpha-hydroxy acid that gently exfoliates dead skin cells. This makes skin look fresher, smoother, and more even after use.

Yogurt works best when your uneven tone comes from surface dullness and dead skin buildup rather than deep pigmentation. It is safe for most skin types and available at any grocery store.

How to Use It:

  1. Apply a thin layer of plain unsweetened yogurt to clean skin.
  2. Leave on for fifteen minutes, then rinse with cool water.
  3. Use two to three times a week.

Best For: Surface dullness, rough texture, and mild discoloration.

Rating: 7.5/10 It removes dead skin cells and makes your face look brighter right away. But it cannot fix deep dark spots or stop your skin from making too much color.

4. Green Tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidants that calm oxidative stress and reduce visible redness. It does not directly erase dark spots but reduces chronic inflammation over time, helping your overall tone look more balanced.

It is a low-risk option that works especially well as a soothing toner for reactive or redness-prone skin.

How to Use It:

  1. Brew a strong cup of green tea and let it cool in the fridge.
  2. Apply to your face with a cotton pad after cleansing.
  3. Leave on and do not rinse. Use daily as a toner.

Best For: Redness, reactive skin, and tired-looking, uneven skin.

Rating: 7/10 It calms redness and protects skin from daily damage, but it never goes after dark spots directly. Results are slow and more about balance than actual brightening.

5. Papaya

Papaya contains papain, a natural enzyme that breaks down dead skin proteins and supports gentle surface resurfacing. It gives a mild brightening effect without harsh acids.

It ranks lower because its results are the most surface-level, and natural enzymes can occasionally irritate sensitive skin. It works best for people who want a gentle, minimally active brightening option.

How to Use It:

  1. Mash ripe papaya and apply as a face mask.
  2. Leave on for ten to fifteen minutes, then rinse and follow with moisturizer.
  3. Patch test first. Use once or twice a week.

Best For: Mild dullness, rough texture, and gentle brightening for normal to combination skin.

Rating: 6.5/10 It gives a soft glow and smooths rough skin, but that is about it. It has the least scientific backing and can bother sensitive skin more than the others.

Best Products for Uneven Skin Tone

Home remedies are a great support, but the right cosmetic products will do the heavy lifting when it comes to fading dark spots and reducing discoloration. Here are the key ingredients to look for, along with why they work.

1. Vitamin C Serum

Vitamin C is one of the most researched brightening ingredients in skincare.

It works by blocking the enzyme that triggers melanin production, which means it can prevent new dark spots from forming while gradually lightening existing ones.

It also provides antioxidant protection from UV damage.

What to look for: A serum with ten to twenty percent L-ascorbic acid for the strongest effect. Store it away from light and heat because vitamin C oxidizes quickly.

Recommended pick:TruSkin Vitamin C Serum

Study backing:Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology

2. Niacinamide Serum

Niacinamide, also called vitamin B3, is one of the best multitasking ingredients for uneven skin. It reduces the transfer of melanin to the skin surface, which helps lighten dark spots.

It also supports the skin barrier, reduces redness, and controls oil production.

Recommended pick:The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% plus Zinc

Study backing: A study in the British Journal of Dermatology

3. Exfoliating Acids (AHA/BHA)

Alpha hydroxy acids like glycolic acid and lactic acid speed up cell turnover by loosening the bonds between dead skin cells.

This reveals fresher, more even-looking skin underneath.

Beta-hydroxy acids like salicylic acid penetrate deeper into pores and are especially effective if your uneven skin tone is linked to breakouts.

Recommended pick:Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

Study Backing:Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology

4. Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen

No product list for even skin tone is complete without sunscreen. SPF thirty or higher, worn every single day, prevents UV rays from triggering new melanin production.

Without daily sun protection, any brightening product you use will be fighting an uphill battle.

Recommended pick:EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46

Study Backing:Journal of Investigative Dermatology

The Best Skincare Routine for Even Skin Tone

A good skincare routine for an even skin tone has four main jobs: cleanse without irritating, treat discoloration, support the skin barrier, and block UV damage every day.

Morning Routine

Here is the morning routine of your skin care.

Step
What to Do
Purpose

Step 1
Start with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Harsh cleansers can strip the skin barrier and worsen uneven skin tone through irritation.
Cleanses the skin while protecting the skin barrier.

Step 2
Apply a few drops of vitamin C serum after cleansing.
Provides antioxidant protection and helps brighten the skin over time.

Step 3
Layer a niacinamide or alpha arbutin serum over the vitamin C serum.
Helps reduce dark spots and improve overall skin tone.

Step 4
Apply a lightweight moisturizer to lock in treatment products.
Supports a healthy skin barrier and prevents dryness.

Step 5
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every morning. Reapply every two hours when outdoors.
Protects against UV damage and prevents further discoloration.

Evening Routine

Here is the evening routine of your skin care.

Step
What to Do
Purpose

Step 1
If you wear sunscreen or makeup, use a cleansing oil or balm first, then follow with your regular gentle cleanser.
Removes SPF, makeup, dirt, and excess oil from the skin.

Step 2
Use a mild AHA, such as lactic acid or glycolic acid, on alternating nights, two to three nights per week.
Removes dead skin cells and supports better cell turnover.

Step 3
Apply your treatment serum after cleansing or exfoliating.
Supports nighttime skin repair and helps improve uneven tone.

Step 4
Finish with a slightly richer moisturizer at night.
Helps your skin barrier recover while you sleep.

Ingredients to Avoid

These are the ingredients you should avoid for even skin.

  • Avoid using lemon juice on your skin: Although lemon juice contains vitamin C, applying it directly can cause irritation and inflammation
  • Skip harsh physical scrubs: Scrubbing too aggressively can damage the skin barrier, causing redness, irritation, and uneven skin tone.
  • Do not over-exfoliate: Excessive exfoliation can weaken the skin’s protective barrier and make discoloration more noticeable.
  • Choose gentle chemical exfoliants instead: Mild acids, such as lactic acid or glycolic acid, help remove dead skin cells more evenly and effectively than gritty scrubs.
  • Protect your skin barrier: A healthy skin barrier is essential for maintaining an even complexion and preventing new dark marks from forming.

Final Thoughts

Getting an even skin tone is not about finding a single miracle product or a perfect home remedy.

It is about building a consistent routine that prevents new discoloration, fades what is already there, and keeps your skin barrier healthy enough to do its job.

Start with daily sunscreen as your foundation. Add a vitamin C or niacinamide serum to your morning routine.

Exfoliate gently two to three times a week. Support your skin on the other nights with a simple home remedy like aloe vera or a honey-turmeric mask.

And give your skin time. Now you have everything you need to know about achieving an even skin tone.

Pick one or two steps and start today. Your skin will thank you in a few weeks.

Where Skincare Shoppers Can Find Premium Products for Less – Hollywood Life

Premium skincare is a part of many individuals’ daily routines, but rising prices are making consumers become more strategic in where they shop.

Many people start their day with a skincare routine they have cultivated to address their unique skin issues. Skincare is now considered a luxury purchase for those who have it as a part of their wellness journey. Cleansers, moisturizers, serums, sunscreen, and other targeted treatments are items that people regularly repurchase.

Rising prices for skincare products have made it harder to experiment to find products that fit into someone’s existing regimen. Shoppers don’t want to abandon taking care of their skin, so they have become selective about where they buy their products. They’re looking for affordable pricing for what they know works for their skin and the products they want to try.

Why Skincare Shoppers Are Becoming More Strategic

Skincare shoppers tend to be selective about the skincare they use, taking the time to be informed about ingredients and how they impact the skin. As consumers become more aware of ingredients, they are less likely to impulse buy, but instead be strategic in what they choose. They understand skin barrier health, hydration, active ingredients, oxidative stress, and the importance of sun protection.

Those who regularly use skincare understand how antioxidant serums work against free radicals, unstable molecules that damage the cells in the skin. They also understand the importance of skin barrier-support creams, SPF products, and exfoliating treatments.

Like with any wellness and nutrition product, people like to do research before introducing a new item to their routine. Skincare enthusiasts often look for search terms such as “what skincare brands do dermatologists trust” when researching skincare products. They want products they can use every day that support their long-term goals.

The Rise of “Smart Restocking”

Shoppers want to replenish their high-quality skin care products and avoid paying high costs. They already know what cleansers, SPF, moisturizers, eye creams, and treatments they use. Skincare users also know that many products need to be used consistently over time to have visible improvements to the skin. When they run out, they look to restock at affordable prices.

The concept of “smart restocking” is simple. A consumer restocks their tried and true products while they are on sale or through an online shop that offers discounts, such as DermStreet, which offers high-quality skincare products up to 30% of their MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price). For shoppers who regularly purchase products from brands such as SkinMedica, Obagi, SkinCeuticals, Jan Marini, PCA SKIN, and skinbetter science, finding more competitive pricing can help make long-term skincare routines more affordable.

Common Skincare Treatments

Though everyone’s skin is different, there are common skincare treatments.

Daily SPF

SPF protects against both UVA and UVB rays, preventing premature aging and dark spots.

Antioxidant Serums

Antioxidant serums stop the damage of free radicals, which are molecules that are missing an electron, so they steal electrons from healthy cells. This is called oxidative stress, which causes premature aging, dullness, wrinkles, and more. Antioxidant serums help neutralize free radicals and help defend the skin barrier.

Moisturizers and Barrier Creams

These help with dryness, skin irritation, and a weakened skin barrier from environmental stress.

Acne and Texture Treatments

For people who struggle with rough texture, oiliness, and clogged pores, these treatments use acids for exfoliation and to address acne.

Meeting Your Skincare Needs

Shopping for premium skincare can be expensive, but online retailer DermStreet makes it accessible and affordable. It enables skincare enthusiasts to browse multiple categories in one place, receive customer guidance when needed, and gives consumers access to lower prices.

Prices and availability are accurate as of the time of publication and are subject to change without notice. Please check the retailer’s website for the most up-to-date pricing information.

Dermatologists say some patients' skin improved when they stopped everything except two products

Dermatologists say some patients’ skin improved when they stopped everything except two products

The
rise and burnout of maximalist beauty

Remember when the holy grail of
beauty was a 10 step, or more, K beauty routine? Double cleansing,
toning, layering essences, serums, sheet masks,
moisturisers – it sounded like a recipe for glowing skin, but
also bank account exhaustion and utter bathroom chaos. Eventually,
the collective enthusiasm fizzled into fatigue. People realised
that not only were their shelves overflowing, but so were their
schedules and their skin’s stress levels. Too many products did
more than drain wallets and time; over layering could actually
overwhelm the skin barrier itself.

Skip
care: the minimalist evolution of K beauty

As Dr Tiffany Libby, double
board certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon, puts it: ‘Skip
care’ is basically a minimalist remix of K beauty. The idea is
fewer but more intentional products, each serving multiple
functions. Skip care isn’t about laziness or neglect – it’s a
thoughtful response to ingredient overload and barrier fatigue. K
beauty once celebrated endless steps of hydration and treatment;
skip care flips the script, putting skin health and protection
front and centre.

This pivot didn’t come out of
nowhere. Consumers now know a lot more about their own skin health.
As Dr Dilip notes, years of piling on acids, retinoids, vitamin C,
exfoliants, mists, and masks have left many grappling with
reactive, sensitive skin. Ironically, and perhaps to the dismay of
product hoarders everywhere, Dr Dilip hears from patients that
their skin often looks best when they temporarily eliminate
everything but a gentle cleanser and sunscreen. When irritation
subsides, the real effects of active ingredients beneath the
redness can finally be appreciated.

How
skip care works: less is powerful

The backbone of skip care?
Multifunctional products – think hydrators and antioxidants and
barrier supporters, all rolled into a single bottle. As Dr Libby
explains, a modern moisturiser might also include ceramides,
niacinamide, peptides, and antioxidants. Multitasking means less
stacking, but you’re still targeting multiple pathways involved in
ageing and inflammation.

Dr Dilip prefers these
thoughtfully compounded products because they naturally curb the
urge to over layer, helping keep the skin barrier happy. Less truly
is more. Dr Libby observes that lowering the product count actually
improves skin consistency and cuts down on irritation, especially
for anyone who’s ever had a moment matching active ingredients like
they’re playing ingredient bingo. Keeping the barrier intact is
key, and packing on acids, retinoids, and exfoliants can disrupt
the skin’s microbiome, increase water loss, and ultimately sabotage
skin health.

There’s also a practical
benefit: people are simply more likely to stick with a basic three
step routine than a daunting dozen steps. According to Dr Dilip,
simpler routines also make it way easier to identify what truly
works versus what’s causing trouble – and, cosmetically, calmer
skin tends to look healthier anyway.

  • Your skip care ‘core
    four’:
  • A gentle cleanser
  • Moisturiser
  • Sunscreen
  • One targeted treatment based
    on your goals

What can you skip? Redundant
toners, overlapping serums, and excessive exfoliants vying for the
same job. As Dr Dilip wisely says, if products are doing the same
thing, you don’t need all of them.

Dr Libby advises focusing on
ingredients proven to work, rather than catching every trend
blowing through the beauty aisles. Skip care is especially helpful
for those with sensitive skin, anyone too busy for a ritualistic
face ceremony, beginners, and even those recovering from
overzealous active ingredient experimentation. It’s also handy for
managing eczema, rosacea, or a compromised barrier.

Smart simplicity: not about neglect

Here’s a PSA from both
experts: minimalism is not a hall pass to skip actually treating
genuine issues like acne, melasma, or photoageing. In these cases,
you might still need a dermatologist’s game plan with some targeted
steps. There’s a fine line between intelligently simplifying and
just abandoning your skin altogether. Dr Libby’s biggest warning?
Don’t drop crucial measures like daily sunscreen or evidence based
treatments, think retinoids, simply for the sake of shaving down
your regimen.

Mistaking skip care for
‘avoiding all actives’ is a trap too. Some actives are your skin’s
best friends when used properly. Plus, just because something is
labelled ‘natural’ or ‘minimal’ doesn’t automatically mean safer.
The true goal? Intentional, thoughtful skincare – not bragging
about using the fewest products possible.

So, how do the pros suggest
you start? Spot which products overlap, narrow your focus to one
main active at a time, and always keep that barrier support a
priority with multifunctional picks. Ultimately, it’s about skin
health, not overstimulation.

Conclusion: your streamlined skin
renaissance

The skip care trend isn’t about dropping the
ball on self care – it’s about finding balance and making choices
rooted in genuine
skin health. If you’ve been nursing burnout from complicated
routines, consider this your permission slip to simplify. Let your
skin breathe, celebrate calmer mornings, and remember: more isn’t
always better, and simplicity can be the secret glow up you never
knew you needed.

Smart Ways to Save Money on Beauty and Skincare Products - Health Tips in Hindi

Smart Ways to Save Money on Beauty and Skincare Products

1 of 1

Beauty and skincare expenses can add up quickly, especially when every new launch promises better results. The good news is that looking after your skin does not have to mean stretching your budget. A few smart shopping habits, better timing, and a little research can help you save significantly while still buying products that suit your needs. From stacking discounts and shopping during sales to making the most of loyalty rewards, there are plenty of ways to reduce costs without compromising on quality.

Here are some practical ways to spend less on beauty and skincare products.

Start With a Minimalist Routine
A minimalist skincare routine can save money, reduce product waste, and make it easier to stay consistent. One of the biggest traps in beauty spending is buying too much, too fast. A basic routine that works consistently will always beat a shelf full of half-used products. Fewer, well-chosen products are often easier to maintain and can deliver better long-term results than complicated routines packed with unnecessary purchases.
A simple daily skincare routine could look like:
Cleanser
Moisturiser with SPF (morning)
Night cream or light serum (evening)
Start here. Add products only when you have a specific, identified concern, such as hyperpigmentation or acne, not because a trend caught your eye.
Understand the Ingredient, Not the Brand
One of the biggest skincare myths is that expensive products always work better. In reality, many premium and budget-friendly products use the same active ingredients. Ingredients such as niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, retinol, and salicylic acid deliver similar benefits regardless of the brand name on the packaging.
Instead of choosing products based on marketing claims, focus on ingredients that address your specific skin concerns. For example, niacinamide and vitamin C are commonly used to improve dullness and uneven skin tone, while hyaluronic acid and glycerin help boost hydration. Those with acne-prone skin can look for salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, whereas retinol and peptides are popular ingredients for addressing signs of ageing. If you have sensitive skin, soothing ingredients such as centella asiatica and ceramides are often a better choice.
Understanding what each ingredient does makes it easier to compare products objectively and find effective options without paying extra for branding or packaging.
Buy During Sale Seasons (and Plan for Them)
One of the easiest ways to save money on skincare and beauty products is to plan purchases around major sale events. Instead of replacing products at full price when they run out, track recurring sale periods and buy essentials when discounts are available. Most Indian beauty retailers follow a predictable sales calendar, making it easier to anticipate price drops throughout the year.
Popular shopping events such as Republic Day sales, Holi sales, Summer sales, Independence Day promotions, Diwali sales, and End-of-Year sales often feature discounts, combo offers, cashback rewards, and bank offers. Depending on the brand and product category, savings can range from 20% to 60%.
A good strategy is to stock up on essentials such as sunscreen, toner, cleanser, and micellar water during these sale periods. Before checking out, explore the latest offers and deals on Nykaa and other beauty platforms to find active cashback promotions, bank offers, and loyalty rewards. Combining these savings opportunities can help you reduce the overall cost of your beauty and skincare purchases even further.
Use Loyalty Points and Reward Programmes
Most beauty platforms offer loyalty programmes and reward systems, but many shoppers overlook them. Programmes such as Nykaa Prive, Purplle Elite Membership, and similar schemes can generate meaningful savings over time, especially when you consolidate your purchases on one or two platforms.
The points, vouchers, and member-exclusive offers add up faster than most people realise. Just remember to redeem your rewards before they expire. Setting a simple calendar reminder can help you make the most of every point earned.
Buy in Value Sizes When It Makes Sense
Larger sizes almost always work out cheaper per unit. For products you finish consistently, such as face wash, body lotion, and shampoo, buying a 200ml bottle over a 100ml one is a straightforward saving.
The exception: avoid buying large quantities of anything new that you have not tested on your skin. Sample sizes or travel sizes are worth the extra cost per ml when you are trying something for the first time.
Patch Test and Return Wisely
Returns in the beauty category are complicated, but a good patch test habit protects you from wasting money on products that do not suit your skin.
Apply a small amount of any new product to your inner wrist or behind your ear for 24 to 48 hours before using it on your face. This simple step prevents the very common problem of buying a product you cannot use.
Compare Prices Across Platforms Before Buying
The same product can vary by 10% to 25% across platforms at any given time. Before completing a purchase, spend two minutes checking:
Amazon India
Nykaa
Myntra
Purplle
The brand’s own website
Also, check if the brand offers a new user discount or a subscription discount for monthly orders.
Do Not Overlook Drugstore and Homegrown Brands
Indian consumers are fortunate to have access to strong domestic brands that are formulated for local skin types and climate conditions.
Brands like Minimalist, Plum, Dot and Key, Mamaearth (select products), and MCaffeine offer ingredient-focused formulations at accessible price points. Many of these have gone through dermatological testing and independent reviews that hold up well against international alternatives at two to three times the price.
Resist the FOMO of New Launches
New product launches are marketed aggressively on social media. A serum that gets 200 Instagram reels in one week is not necessarily better than what already works for you.
A useful rule: wait 30 days before buying anything you see trending. If you still want it after 30 days, it is probably considered a purchase rather than an impulse one.
Wrapping Up
Saving money on beauty and skincare is not about choosing the cheapest products. It is about shopping smarter. Build a routine around products you genuinely need, plan purchases around major sale events, make the most of loyalty rewards, and compare offers before checking out. Small habits like these can lead to significant savings over time without compromising on quality. With a little planning and discipline, you can maintain an effective beauty routine while keeping your monthly spending under control.
