Doctor’s Cosmetics [Jullants] Developed by Cosmetic Dermatologist Dr. Etsuko Takasu|CN ひつじのぷー

Summary

For those who feel that their usual skincare routine is no longer enough. Developed by cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Etsuko Takasu, “Jullants” is luxuriously formulated with 3GF ingredients that promote skin regeneration based on medical knowledge. You can achieve authentic anti-aging care that awakens the skin’s inherent power, rather than relying on temporary hydration. With a logical approach that can be safely incorporated even by those with sensitive skin, gain confidence in your future skin. Why not start a satisfying skincare habit here?

Introduction to Jullants Developed by Etsuko Takasu | Authentic Anti-Aging Care from Your 40s

Have you ever been shocked when looking in the mirror to realize that your face lacks the firmness and radiance it once had? After passing your late 30s, you may find yourself experiencing more moments where you realize your skin has reached a turning point, such as feeling that the skincare products you once trusted are suddenly “not enough,” or noticing your skin becoming sensitive during seasonal changes.

I, too, used to be comforted by the glamorous scents of department store cosmetics, but as my skin dryness and signs of aging became more serious, I felt frustrated that superficial hydration could not solve the problem. Amidst this uncertainty, I discovered “Jullants,” developed by cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Etsuko Takasu. Her selection of ingredients based on medical knowledge and the perspective unique to an expert who has faced many skin concerns in clinical practice were exactly the answers my mature skin was looking for.

In this article, I will explain why “doctor’s cosmetics” developed by experts are effective for anti-aging, the mechanism of the 3GF formulation behind them, and the reasons why they can be safely incorporated even by those with sensitive skin, while sharing my own personal experience. Let’s confirm the concrete steps together on how to prepare your future skin by switching to evidence-based skincare.

Even in a busy daily life, taking time to care for your skin is an important process for regaining confidence. For those who want to choose care that they can feel convinced about, I have organized information that will serve as the first step toward authentic anti-aging care.

Why Jullants, Developed by a Cosmetic Dermatologist, Is Chosen for Mature Skin

The Mechanism of 3GF Formulation Based on Medical Knowledge

My skin condition felt somewhat unstable, and I could no longer feel the firmness and radiance I once had. While struggling with these concerns, I arrived at skincare formulated with 3GF, developed based on knowledge cultivated over many years at the Takasu Clinic, a site of cosmetic medicine. The effect expected from doctor’s cosmetics lies in an approach that goes beyond mere hydration to awaken the skin’s inherent power.

3GF refers to three ingredients: EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor), FGF (Fibroblast Growth Factor), and IGF (Insulin-like Growth Factor). These naturally exist in our bodies and play an important role in supporting cell proliferation and regeneration. However, as we age, the secretion of these factors decreases rapidly, which becomes a factor in causing disrupted skin turnover, dryness, and signs of aging such as lack of firmness. 3GF-formulated cosmetics aim to improve the condition of the skin from its foundation by supplementing these factors.

Specifically, it works to promote repair and regeneration at the cellular level for skin whose turnover cycle tends to be disrupted. For example, when I started using 3GF-formulated products, after a few weeks, I noticed that the texture of my skin felt smoother when washing my face, even though I had never felt a change in my skin the next morning no matter how expensive the serum I used before. It felt as if proper nourishment was reaching my neglected skin, drawing out its power to become healthy on its own. I feel that this is a realization that can only be obtained because of a design based on a medical perspective that supports the improvement of skin turnover, unlike care that only forms a film from the outside.

Also, what is considered important in such doctor’s cosmetics is safety for mature, fluctuating skin. If you try to forcibly activate your skin with strong ingredients in a hurry for anti-aging care, it can conversely lead to inflammation and redness. Since 3GF ingredients work on the mechanisms that the skin naturally possesses, there is a sense of security that they will gently accompany you even when your skin is in a delicate state, regardless of your skin type. I myself used to have tingling skin almost every time the seasons changed, but since switching to products with this formulation, I think the time it takes for my skin to regain its calm has shortened.

Care backed by professional knowledge is a wise investment for living with your own skin for a long time, rather than chasing temporary trends. Cosmetics are not pharmaceuticals, but by choosing based on scientific evidence, you can have firm conviction and confidence in your daily skincare. First, try using a trial set and carefully observe the changes in your own skin. The daily accumulation should become the power that supports your own skin years from now.

Choosing 3GF-formulated cosmetics is a rational choice that looks toward the future of your skin, and it is the starting point for a positive daily life where you look forward to looking in the mirror little by little.

Etsuko Takasu’s Commitment to Supporting Anti-Aging Care for Sensitive Skin

When you start to feel changes in your skin, everyone must have had the experience of trying many skincare products and eventually not knowing which one to choose. Especially if you have sensitive skin, you are always anxious about whether you will experience tingling or redness every time you incorporate a new product. Amidst such hesitation, the skincare brand handled by Dr. Etsuko Takasu is one I place my trust in. The conditions for a product that “can be used safely every day,” which she arrived at precisely because she is a doctor who has touched many skins in the field of cosmetic dermatology, were very simple and convincing.

The doctor’s commitment is not just to pack in active ingredients, but to make absolutely no compromises in the quality control of the ingredients. No matter how excellent an ingredient is, it is counterproductive if it becomes an irritant to the skin. When I actually picked up a Jullants product for the first time, I was surprised by the gentleness of its texture. I feel that the sensation of it blending smoothly into the skin is proof of a calculated formulation balance. For those with sensitive skin, the balance between “offense” and “defense” is important in anti-aging care. Because this doctor’s cosmetic is based on the logic of delivering necessary moisture and anti-aging ingredients while maintaining the skin’s inherent barrier function, you can start using it with peace of mind even if your skin is prone to fluctuations.

For example, when I was able to feel that the firmness and radiance of my skin were maintained even if I reduced the steps of layering in the busy morning time, I felt I could understand the essence of this care. Because it is designed based on abundant clinical experience at the Takasu Clinic to minimize irritation to the skin while allowing you to feel certain results, it becomes a very reassuring option for people like me who “have a commitment to ingredients but have sensitive skin and find it difficult to choose.”

Skincare is not a one-time event, but a daily accumulation. That is why I believe that finding products that support your skin condition from a doctor’s perspective is the best investment for your future skin. If you feel you haven’t found the right skincare for you yet, the best shortcut is to start with a trial set and see for yourself how your skin reacts and how it changes by the next morning. Incorporating care based on solid medical evidence should help eliminate the anxiety of being swayed by excessive information and become an important step toward carefully facing your own skin.

Etsuko Takasu Skincare packed with Dr. ‘s expertise goes beyond mere cosmetics; it is like a partner for living a healthy daily life. Even for sensitive skin, by choosing the right ingredients and reliable doctor’s cosmetics, anti-aging care can be transformed into a more free and positive habit. If you haven’t been satisfied with your skincare so far, why not start simply by having a dialogue with your own skin?

How to effectively incorporate Jullants and your first anti-aging care experience

How to maximize the comfort of Jullants and the effects of using the full line

As you age, do you ever feel that the texture of your skin or the severity of your dryness is different from before? I, too, used to be soothed by the gorgeous scents of department store cosmetics, but at one point, I began to suffer from the feeling that no matter what I used, it was “somehow lacking” or that “only the surface felt moisturized.” That was when I encountered Jullants skincare. The comfort of Jullants is a cut above the heavy feeling of so-called high-moisturizing products, and I was surprised by the sense of penetration that smoothly blends into the skin. Even for those who dislike stickiness, the texture is easy to continue using regardless of the season, and it has a sense of reliability that gently conditions adult skin.

In skincare, the actual feeling on the skin differs significantly between using items individually and using the full line. In the case of Jullants, the 3GF contained in all products consistently continues to condition the base of the skin from face wash to cream. For example, by layering a cream with a firm texture directly onto the skin after applying the serum, I was able to strongly feel the sensation of the skin being satisfied. Once your skin’s rhythm is regulated by using the full line, you will notice changes in your skin tone and how your makeup applies when you look in the mirror during your morning face wash. I am convinced that to support the normalization of adult skin turnover, the shortcut is not one-off care, but continuing a consistent approach by using the full line.

I will introduce the specific method I actually incorporate. First, after washing my face, I immediately use plenty of rich lotion, followed by replenishing ingredients with a serum. Finally, I seal it with milky lotion or cream. It is a very basic procedure, but it is important to perform these steps every day without fail. Especially when you are a busy manager or have a responsible job, you tend to lean toward time-saving, but the reason I recommend these doctor’s cosmetics is that they are designed to work on the skin reliably while being simple. If you are anxious about buying everything at once, I think starting with a trial set is the lowest-risk and wisest choice to confirm compatibility with your own skin.

Believing in the future skin changes that continuous care can achieve, why not review your current skincare first? Even for me, who used to feel depressed looking in the mirror every day, by experiencing the comfort of Jullants and performing daily care carefully, I have begun to feel that my skin is responding. Skin changes do not appear overnight, but accumulating products based on medical knowledge is the best investment in yourself. Instead of being bound by the number that is your age, please try to face the importance of care that cherishes your skin at this very moment.

Start with a trial set! How to begin anti-aging care without failure

When you reach your late 30s, a moment arrives when the cosmetics you have loved until now suddenly feel “lacking.” Nasolabial folds that deepen every time you look in the mirror, and dullness that cannot be hidden by evening. When I faced such aging signs, I rushed to jump on expensive serums, but I had the experience of regretting it because my skin became irritated. Because adult skin is prone to sensitivity, I learned that the best shortcut is not to change everything at once, but to carefully try it out starting with a trial set.

The reason the Jullants trial set is recommended is that Dr. Etsuko Takasu, a cosmetic dermatologist, designed it by packing in her own knowledge of sensitive skin care. For a type like me who carries the anxiety of what if I buy the full product and it doesn’t suit my skin, a set where I can experience the full line in a short period was a very reassuring option. Actually, I was anxious at first, but because I could observe skin changes while checking the compatibility of ingredients one by one, I was able to try it with peace of mind without much mental burden.

The most important thing in anti-aging skincare from the late 30s is to draw out the self-repairing power that the skin originally possesses. The products included in the Jullants set contain an ingredient called 3GF that penetrates to the stratum corneum of the skin, supporting plump firmness from the inside. As an episode of actually using it, I noticed that my skin, which used to have foundation flaking off due to dryness, has been moist and calm until night since I started care with Jullants. By continuing to use it, the skin texture is refined, and it feels different in smoothness when touched with fingertips.

When looking at “Jullants reviews” on the internet, you may sometimes see voices of anxiety such as “Isn’t it too stimulating because it’s high-end doctor’s cosmetics?”, but what many users are convinced of is the balance between its gentleness on the skin and its reliable results. What I felt when I actually used it was the lack of irritation and the difference in the brightness of my skin the next morning. If you are currently worried that your aging signs are not improving no matter what you use, please try to confirm the compatibility with your own skin with a small step called a trial.Jullants reviews on the internet

Anti-aging care is not about riding a temporary boom, but steadily accumulating correct habits based on medical knowledge, which is the best investment for your future skin. With a trial set, you can objectively judge the ingredients and textures your skin needs right now within a reasonable range. First, for a few days, try to experience how the ingredients developed by experts with great care will accompany your skin. That will be a sure step toward maintaining beauty with conviction.

Summary

Have confidence in your future skin with convincing care

I have tried many cosmetics so far and have taken detours without getting the results I wanted, but since I started focusing on choosing ingredients based on medical knowledge, I have become able to accept skin changes calmly. Products like Jullants, where you can see the face of the developer, have a sense of conviction in their background above all else, so there is no hesitation in daily care.

What is important in anti-aging care is to continue building a foundation that draws out the skin’s inherent power rather than seeking temporary improvement. The time spent carefully facing your own skin and choosing what suits your current condition also becomes an important moment to treat yourself.

When incorporating new skincare, it is natural to feel anxious about whether it will suit your skin. That is why I recommend first checking the compatibility with your own skin with a trial set. As a first step to starting full-scale anti-aging care, please try experiencing its comfort on your own skin first.

Can expensive products slow ageing? Dermatologist debunks 5 skincare myths

Can expensive products slow ageing? Dermatologist debunks 5 skincare myths

Anti-ageing skincare is surrounded by misconceptions, with everyone offering their two cents and skincare aisles overflowing with products. Amid all this noise, it is best to take a step back and look at skincare with renewed clarity instead of blindly following marketing hype.

Dr Rinky Kapoor, director and co-founder of The Esthetic Clinics, shared that ageing is a natural process, but social media narratives can sometimes complicate how we approach it.

She said, “From believing that an anti-ageing regimen should only be started after reaching a certain age to assuming that using more products will lead to better results, there are several misconceptions about skincare that may make routines ineffective or excessive.”

Therefore, following age-based rules or piling on multiple products may backfire. Instead, skincare should be simple, consistent, and tailored to the skin’s individual needs.

Here’s a set of myths that she debunked with relevant facts:

Myth 1: An anti-ageing skincare regimen should only be started after the age of 40

  • Skin ageing begins well before the appearance of visible wrinkles.
  • The skin produces collagen, which gradually decreases with age, while exposure to the sun and other environmental factors may accelerate the ageing process.

Myth 2: Wrinkles are the sole indication of ageing on the face

  • The ageing process is much broader than just the formation of wrinkles.
  • Changes in collagen and elastin levels, pigmentation, texture, elasticity, hydration, as well as facial volume and contours, can all affect how the face looks over time.
  • This is why an effective anti-ageing approach should focus on overall skin quality, rather than just wrinkles.

Myth 3: Expensive skincare products provide better anti-ageing results

  • Cost does not necessarily determine the efficacy of a product. What truly matters is its formulation, active ingredients, concentration and suitability for your skin type and concerns.
  • An effective skincare regimen using simple products with scientifically proven ingredients can be more beneficial than constantly experimenting with expensive formulations.

Myth 4: Multiple anti-ageing products are needed to achieve better results

  • This myth stems from the idea that using more products will lead to better results.
  • But applying too many ingredients, acids or exfoliators at once can cause irritation and compromise the skin barrier.
  • It is better to build a simple skincare routine and gradually introduce active ingredients into it.

Myth 5: Aesthetic procedures can replace good skincare and healthy lifestyle choices

  • Aesthetic treatments can target specific concerns; however, they cannot replace the basics of good skincare and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Using sunscreen, getting adequate rest, maintaining proper nutrition, exercising, managing stress and following a consistent skincare regimen are essential for healthy ageing.
  • Aesthetic treatments should be tailored to an individual’s physical characteristics, skin concerns and expectations.

FORGET the viral 10-step skincare routine.

K-beauty has taken the internet by storm, with Brits turning to Korean skincare in the hunt for “glass skin” and a more youthful appearance.

But experts say the real secret isn’t using more products – it’s using the right ones.

Consistency is key to healthy skin Credit: Getty

“It’s all about consistency,” says GP and renowned K-beauty expert Dr Christine Hall, who gave me the lowdown on some of her top tips and recommendations.

Thank you!

In Korea, skincare follows a “slow-ageing” approach, focusing on protecting and strengthening the skin over time with hydration, barrier repair and prevention.

Sharing her thoughts on the viral 10-step routine, Dr Hall says skincare “doesn’t have to be complicated”.

BACK ON AIR

I felt lost after being given the all-clear from cancer, says Lauren Laverne

“If I speak to my Korean auntie about the 10-step routine, she doesn’t know what I’m talking about,” says Dr Hall. “Some days, I personally don’t wear a moisturiser.”

Instead, SPFs and dedicated serums can double up – an approach that fits with what Koreans refer to as “skip-care”.

GP and K-beauty expert Dr Christine Hall is credited with bringing glass skin to London

The aim is to strip your routine back to a few essentials, saving time and money while helping prevent overloaded skin, which can lead to breakouts.

“The best advice you can give anyone is to use SPF,” she tells me.

“About 90% of the visible signs of ageing are due to sun damage.”

Rays from the sun break down collagen and elastin, causing skin to become loose and wrinkle over time.

Unless you suffer from very dry skin, Dr Hall recommends skipping moisturiser in favour of a dedicated SPF or serum – one of Dr Hall’s faves costs just over a fiver, and it doesn’t compromise on quality.

Altruist Dermatologist Sunscreen SPF50, £5.50

Altruist Dermatologist Sunscreen SPF50, £5.50, was developed by Dr Andrew Birnie, a UK skin cancer specialist, so it’s suitable for sensitive skin and reduces skin cancer risk alongside signs of ageing.

I put it to the test and found it easily doubled up as a moisturiser, and it didn’t leave my skin looking ashy or chalky – if you have oily skin, there’s also a lighter version, Altruist Dermatologist Face Fluid SPF30, £8.65.

When it comes to the rest of your routine, these are the K-beauty secrets Dr Hall recommends.

New Doesn’t Always Mean Better

Some of K-beauty’s most talked-about ingredients may sound unusual, but many are rooted in long-standing Korean beauty traditions.

Dr Hall explains that while ingredients like snail mucin have become global skincare sensations, their popularity is largely based on generations of use rather than clinical research.

“You’re not going to see medical papers written on it, but people in Korea swear by it. The same with rice water,” she says.

You can find this in I’m From Rice Toner, £26.50, which is deeply hydrating and designed for all skin types.

“Hundreds of years ago, women washed rice and their hands ended up being really soft and smooth.

“That’s how they worked out rice water is a really good ingredient.”

Did You Say Salmon Sperm?

Another viral ingredient that raises eyebrows is something called PDRN – as found in Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Capsule 100 Serum, £20, which flew off shelves.

“PDRN is an ingredient derived typically from salmon sperm,” Dr Hall explains.

“In Korea, it’s an ingredient that’s all over the place – if you go into a pharmacy, you’ll find it.”

In clinics, it’s even injected to help stimulate collagen, wound repair and calm inflammation.

She adds: “The argument is that the PDRN molecule is too big to pass through the skin.”

While that’s true, she says many other skincare ingredients, like collagen, also sit on the skin’s surface.

Forget Kombucha, Try Fermented Skincare

When we think of something fermented, we often think of foods like kimchi or kombucha – but it’s not just food, it turns out we can ferment skincare, too.

What’s more, fermented ingredients can actually boost absorption into the skin.

“When we ferment skincare, we make the ingredient’s molecule size much smaller,” says Dr Hall

This process can help ingredients absorb more easily, while also unlocking additional benefits, like peptides and organic acids, which help improve the skin’s texture, firmness and elasticity, aiding anti-ageing.

Why Redness Does Not Mean Results

If you’re looking for an anti-ageing ingredient with the strongest medical backing, retinol is considered the “gold standard”.

Developed from vitamin A, it’s used to tackle fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and even acne – but it’s not for everyone.

Retinol can cause redness, peeling and even “retinol burn” if you start too strong – it’s also best to avoid during pregnancy or if you suffer from conditions like eczema or rosacea.

That’s why Dr Hall recommends a gentler K-beauty approach for beginners.

“K-beauty is very skin-barrier-first,” she says.

“Here in Britain, we’re quite into our harsh ingredients – if something causes a bit of redness, we get a bit excited and we’re like: ‘Oh, it’s doing something!’

“Over in Korea, they very much believe nothing should impact the skin to cause redness.

“So, when they do make these ingredients, they formulate them to be really nice and gentle.”

One example is Beauty of Joseon Revive Firming Moisturizer, £21, which has gone viral for its gentle formula.

It contains fermented retinol, which is more easily absorbed, and also contains ginseng – another ingredient widely used in Korea for its anti-ageing benefits.

Beauty of Joseon Revive Firming Moisturizer is a K-beauty fan fave

The Gentle Approach

It’s not just what Koreans use, it’s how they use it – and one technique can help you save money and reduce signs of ageing.

Many use a technique called “tok tok” – gently tapping products into the face rather than rubbing into the skin.

Dr Hall says this helps avoid pulling on the skin, uses less product, and may even help boost circulation at the skin’s surface – another anti-ageing benefit.

But before splashing out on new serums, it’s also worth looking at your lifestyle.

“How you sleep, how you eat, stress, whether you smoke or not, whether you live in a city – all of those things will have an impact,” she explains.

While products can help, healthy skin starts with consistent everyday habits.

“Prevention is better than cure, always,” says Dr Hall.

K-Beauty doesn’t always work for Indian skin: Dermatologist explains how to safely adapt Korean skincare trends

Korean skincare has gained massive popularity worldwide, with terms like glass skin, skin flooding, and 10-step routines becoming part of everyday beauty conversations. From sheet masks to snail mucin and fermented ingredients, Korean beauty or K-beauty, promises glowing, hydrated, flawless skin. But an important question remains: Are Korean skincare trends truly suitable for Indian skin? The answer is not a simple yes or no.

“Skincare trends can be exciting, but healthy skin is not achieved by copying routines blindly. What works for one skin type or climate may not necessarily suit another,” Dermatologist Dr Nivedita Dadu of Dadu Medical Centre, tells Health Shots.

Indian and Korean skin are not the same

Skin concerns are shaped by genetics, climate, lifestyle, and environmental exposure. Korean skincare is largely designed around East Asian skin types and cooler, less humid environments. Indian skin, on the other hand, has its own unique characteristics.

Indian skin usually contains higher melanin levels, which provide some natural protection against sun damage but also make it more prone to pigmentation, tanning, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

This means even minor acne or irritation can leave behind stubborn dark marks. At the same time, many parts of India experience intense heat, humidity, pollution, and prolonged sun exposure, all of which significantly influence skincare needs.

Why does K-beauty appeal to so many?

One reason Korean skincare has become popular is its focus on prevention and hydration. Unlike harsh skincare routines that aggressively target flaws, K-beauty emphasises maintaining the skin barrier and supporting long-term skin health. Hydrating toners, lightweight essences, ceramide-based moisturisers, and sunscreen are often beneficial for many skin types, including Indian skin.

“Korean skincare introduced people to the importance of hydration and barrier repair, which are valuable concepts in dermatology,” says Dr Dadu. However, appreciating the philosophy does not mean every trend should be adopted without thought.

How to use Korean skincare trends safely?

Please note these pointers before trying anything on your own:

  • Many people attempt elaborate Korean routines seen online without understanding their own skin condition.
  • A 10-step routine may sound luxurious, but layering multiple products can overwhelm the skin, especially in India’s hot, humid weather. Excessive layering may lead to clogged pores, irritation, breakouts, or increased oiliness.
  • People with acne-prone or sensitive skin often make the mistake of experimenting with multiple active ingredients at once, assuming that more products mean better results.
  • In reality, overdoing skincare can compromise the skin barrier and trigger inflammation.

Pigmentation and acne need special attention

Another big differences between Korean and Indian skin concerns is the frequency of pigmentation disorders. Indian patients commonly struggle with melasma, tanning, acne marks, and uneven skin tone. While many Korean products prioritise glow and hydration, they may not always address these concerns effectively.

For Indian skin, ingredients such as niacinamide, azelaic acid, retinoids, vitamin C, and carefully prescribed pigmentation treatments often play a more central role. Similarly, acne management must be personalised. Viral skincare products promoted online may not suit acne-prone Indian skin and can sometimes worsen breakouts.

Sunscreen matters more than trends

If there is one skincare lesson Indian consumers should prioritise, it is sunscreen. Sun exposure remains one of the leading causes of pigmentation, premature ageing, and skin damage. While Korean sunscreens are often praised for their elegant textures, the most effective sunscreen is ultimately the one that suits your skin and is used consistently. “People chase trending products but neglect daily sun protection. No skincare routine can succeed without sunscreen,” Dr Dadu explains.

Keep skincare simple and personalised

Healthy skin does not depend on following social media trends or owning dozens of products.

A practical skincare routine for most Indian skin types usually includes:

  • A gentle cleanser
  • A moisturiser suited to the skin type
  • Broad-spectrum sunscreen
  • Targeted treatments only when required

The focus should remain on skin health rather than chasing perfection.

“Korean skincare offers useful ideas, but skincare should never be trend-driven. Understanding your own skin and choosing treatments suited to Indian conditions will always give better and safer results than copying routines seen online,” concluded Dr Nivedita Dadu.

Trader Joe’s $10 Vitamin C Serum Compared to $200 Dermatologist Favorite

Luxury skincare dupes are nothing new, but Trader Joe’s shoppers think the grocery chain may have stumbled onto one of the most surprising comparisons yet. A $9.99 vitamin C serum from the retailer’s skincare aisle is drawing attention online for its resemblance to a dermatologist-favorite product that costs nearly 19 times as much.

The Trader Joe’s Vitamin C Serum recently resurfaced in online skincare conversations thanks to its ingredient lineup and budget-friendly price point. Beauty enthusiasts on Reddit and social media have been comparing it to SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, a luxury vitamin C serum that dermatologists frequently describe as a gold standard antioxidant treatment in skincare.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

While experts note the formulas are not identical, many shoppers see the Trader Joe’s version as a compelling alternative for anyone who doesn’t want to spend nearly $200 for skincare.

Why Trader Joe’s $10 Vitamin C Serum Is Getting So Much Attention

Trader Joe’s Vitamin C Serum contains the same antioxidant trio that made SkinCeuticals famous in the skincare world: 15 percent L-ascorbic acid, vitamin E and ferulic acid.

Dermatologists often praise that combination because the ingredients work together to brighten skin, protect against environmental stressors and support collagen production. Ferulic acid also helps stabilize vitamin C.

At just $9.99 per fluid ounce, Trader Joe’s Vitamin C Serum offers the same key ingredients at a much lower price. The product was also formulated for the retailer by dermatologists, according to Trader Joe’s.

Online, shoppers say they were especially surprised by how closely the ingredient percentages match those of the luxury serum. Cosmetic chemists and skincare professionals have noted that the texture and base formulation differ from SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, but many consumers, including me, remain intrigued.

What Dermatologists Say About Vitamin C Skincare

Vitamin C remains one of the most recommended skincare ingredients among dermatologists because of its wide range of benefits. Experts say topical vitamin C can help brighten uneven skin tone, fade dark spots and protect skin from free radical damage caused by pollution and UV exposure.

It is also commonly used in anti-aging skincare routines because it supports collagen production, which helps skin maintain firmness and elasticity over time.

Still, dermatologists caution that higher vitamin C concentrations can irritate sensitive skin, especially at 15 percent. Many recommend introducing vitamin C skincare slowly and pairing it with daily sunscreen.

Forget 'Botox in a bottle'! Dermatologist reveals exact Korean skincare routine to look ageless in your 40s

Forget ‘Botox in a bottle’! Dermatologist reveals exact Korean skincare routine to look ageless in your 40s

If your social media feed is full of serums promising to “erase” wrinkles and replicate the results of a cosmetic procedure, you’re not alone. The “Botox in a bottle” boom has been hard to ignore, but K-beauty experts say the real anti-ageing secret has nothing to do with a single hero product.

In your forties and beyond, it’s about working smarter, and Korean skincare could be the way to go. Prioritising hydration, skin barrier health and consistency over miracle claims, could this be the real key to maintaining a youthful complexion?

To understand more about K-beauty tips and the routines to try, we caught up with Dr. Marie Jhin, a board-certified dermatologist and the author of The K-Beauty Secrets: Accessible Beauty for Every Woman.

“In Korea, the focus is never on dramatic changes – it’s on looking refreshed and natural,” she says. “That mindset, combined with the right ingredients and consistency, is what makes K-beauty so effective for women navigating this stage of life.” Here are the skincare routines and habits she recommends…

Supporting the skin barrier can protect against some signs of ageing

Understand key ageing times

Dr Jhin says there are two key life stages where women might notice accelerated ageing, and says supporting the skin barrier can help to protect against some of the effects.

“Research has identified two distinct peaks in the ageing process — one in your 40s and another in your 60s. That first peak is significant, and understanding why it happens is key to addressing it effectively,” she says.

“In your 40s, your skin undergoes real hormonal shifts — collagen production slows, the skin barrier becomes more fragile, and hydration retention decreases. Korean skincare philosophy approaches this not as ‘anti-aging’ but as skin health preservation — treating the skin with consistency and layering rather than dramatic intervention.”

The dermatologist recommends the following morning skincare routine

Recommended morning routine

  1. Low-pH gentle cleanser — preserves the acid mantle, which becomes more vulnerable in your 40s.

  2. Hydrating toner/essence — the cornerstone of K-beauty; look for fermented ingredients like galactomyces or bifida ferment lysate to boost radiance and cell renewal.

  3. Vitamin C serum — brightens hyperpigmentation (common in your 40s) and supports collagen synthesis.

  4. Lightweight moisturiser with ceramides — rebuilds the skin barrier.

  5. SPF 50 sunscreen — the single most impactful anti-ageing step, full stop.

These Korean beauty secrets could transform your evening skincare routine

Recommended evening routine

Meanwhile, the following evening skincare routine incorporates some popular K-beauty products to nourish skin.

  1. Double cleanse — oil cleanser first, then water-based, to ensure actives can fully penetrate.
  2. Exfoliating toner (2-3x weekly) — gentle AHAs like lactic acid to resurface without stripping.

  3. Peptide or PDRN (polynucleotide) serum — signals skin to produce collagen; hugely popular in Korean clinics.

  4. Retinol or bakuchiol — for cell turnover; bakuchiol is the gentler, Korean-favoured alternative for sensitive skin.

  5. Rich moisturiser or sleeping mask — seals everything in overnight.

These skincare ingredients are hugely popular in Korea

Hero K-Beauty ingredients

When you’re updating your skincare routine, these are the popular Korean beauty ingredients to consider trying, according to the dermatologist.

  • Snail secretion filtrate — repairs, hydrates and firms.
  • Centella asiatica (Cica) — calms inflammation and boosts collagen.
  • Niacinamide — evens skin tone, tightens pores and strengthens the barrier.
  • Hyaluronic acid and polyglutamic acid — multi-depth hydration that plumps skin from within.

Support circulation with a facial massage

Incorporate a gentle massage

Meanwhile, the skincare expert says that women in their 40s benefit most from collagen-stimulating treatments such as the following:

  • Skin boosters — injectable hydration is hugely popular in Korean clinics, giving a natural, plumped effect.
  • Regenerative treatments using PRP, or polynucleotide (PDRN) injections — derived from salmon DNA, these accelerate collagen repair.
  • Tightening devices such as Ulthera, XREF and Thermage — non-surgical options that lift and firm.
  • Toxins (botulinum toxin) — still the mainstay treatment for ageing skin in the 40s, when used subtly and skilfully.

Future-Proof Your Skin In Your 20s: Dermatologist Tips To Prevent Early Ageing | Beauty News

Future-Proof Your Skin In Your 20s: Dermatologist Tips To Prevent Early Ageing | Beauty News

Last Updated:January 29, 2026, 15:32 IST

Dr Sumit Sethi shares expert tips on preventing early skin ageing in your 20s with the right skincare routine, retinol use, hydration, sunscreen, and lifestyle habits.

A dermatologist-guided routine that supports hydration, barrier repair, targeted actives like retinol and hyaluronic acid, and daily sun protection builds long-term skin strength

Are you in your 20s and assuming skin ageing is a distant concern, something to address in your 30s or 40s? That assumption, unfortunately, isn’t accurate. Subtle signs of ageing can begin as early as the mid-20s. Fine lines around the eyes, uneven pigmentation, and lingering dullness often appear earlier than expected.

In India, these changes can be further accelerated by environmental and lifestyle factors such as pollution, harsh seasonal variation, late nights, stress, and prolonged screen exposure. Addressing early signs of ageing isn’t about chasing perfection, it’s about protecting the skin barrier and strengthening long-term skin health.

“As a dermatologist, I often tell patients that prevention must begin before damage becomes visible,” says Dr Sumit Sethi, Medical Director, DermaStation Skin Clinic, Janakpuri, Delhi. “Your 20s are not too early, they’re actually the ideal time to start.”

The Indian Skin Advantage and Its Challenges

According to the study Aging and the Indian Face: An Analytical Study of Aging in the Asian Indian Face, Indian skin can show earlier ageing changes compared to some other skin types due to a mix of internal and external factors, including pigmentation tendencies and collagen breakdown triggers.

“Most people think wrinkles are the first and only sign of ageing,” explains Dr Sethi. “But in Indian skin, early ageing often shows up first as uneven tone, hyperpigmentation, and textural dullness.”

Awareness remains limited, and many consumers either miss early warning signs or turn to unsuitable products. A proactive, individualised approach guided by dermatologist-recommended formulations can significantly delay visible ageing.

Building a Preventive Regimen in Your 20s

The most effective anti-ageing routines are consistent, minimal, and preventive rather than complicated. Start with essentials:

• a gentle cleanser that does not strip natural oils

• a lightweight moisturiser to maintain hydration

• daily sun protection

“These three steps form the backbone of long-term skin resilience,” says Dr Sethi. “Once the basics are in place, active ingredients can be introduced gradually and under expert guidance.”

Retinol: Small Steps, Big Benefits

Retinol remains one of the most researched and effective anti-ageing ingredients. It helps delay fine lines, refine texture, and support collagen production by increasing cell turnover.

“Retinol is powerful, but it must be introduced slowly,” advises Dr Sethi. “Begin with beginner-strength, dermatologist-recommended formulations and use them only a couple of times a week at first.”

Encapsulated retinol formulations often offer better tolerability and controlled absorption, making them more suitable for first-time users and sensitive Indian skin types.

Hyaluronic Acid: Keeping Skin Resilient

Hydration is one of the simplest ways to preserve a youthful appearance. Hyaluronic acid (HA), naturally present in the skin, attracts and retains moisture, helping skin look plumper and smoother.

“In your 20s, dehydration is a bigger ageing trigger than most people realise,” says Dr Sethi. “Air-conditioning, travel, and screen exposure all dry the skin. HA helps maintain water balance and barrier strength.”

Well-hydrated skin is not only healthier in appearance but also more resistant to early ageing triggers.

Sunscreen: The Non-Negotiable Step

If there is one product dermatologists universally insist on, it is sunscreen. UV radiation accelerates pigmentation, breaks down collagen, and remains the leading cause of premature skin ageing.

“Daily sunscreen is non-negotiable regardless of weather or whether you are indoors,” emphasises Dr Sethi. “Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 50 formula, ideally with protection against high-energy visible (HEV) light from screens, which is especially relevant for urban Indian lifestyles.”

Consistent application matters more than occasional heavy use.

Lifestyle Choices That Influence Skin Ageing

Skincare products form the external defence but lifestyle determines long-term outcomes.

“Topicals help, but internal health shows on the skin,” notes Dr Sethi.

A diet rich in antioxidants, fruits, leafy greens, nuts supports repair from within. Exercise improves circulation and nutrient delivery. Adequate sleep enables overnight cellular regeneration. On the other hand, smoking, excessive alcohol, and chronic stress accelerate visible ageing and can undermine even the best skincare routine.

What This Means for Your Skin

Your 20s should focus on prevention not chasing miracle anti-ageing fixes. A dermatologist-guided routine that supports hydration, barrier repair, targeted actives like retinol and hyaluronic acid, and daily sun protection builds long-term skin strength.

“Ageing is natural,” says Dr Sethi. “But premature ageing is often preventable. Start early, stay consistent, and your future skin will show the difference.”

Combine smart skincare with healthy living habits, and the benefits will extend well beyond your 20s lasting for decades.
