Fairy Skin

Matteo Valle

Back in 2016, the no makeup look was complete without an intense swipe of powder highlight. In 2025, the shimmery staple is making a big comeback. “I’m seeing a lot of highlighters that have different metallic finishes,” says Oquendo. “It’s super glassy, but with different undertones—like green or blue.” He calls the iridescent, high-shine finish “fairy skin.”

Frosted Lips

Filippo Fortis

Yup, you read that right. Just in time for winter, the frosty, metallic lips of the ’90s and early aughts will dominate once again. “I love a frosted lip,” says Oquendo. “There’s this big ’90s energy. There are a few brands that are doing it, and I’m here for it.” From glosses to sticks, shimmery, cool-toned, and metallic lip shades are dominating the season.

Pro-Level Techniques

Filippo Fortis

From understanding under-painting to learning how to color correct, “there has been a desire to understand makeup techniques that have been primarily pro-focused,” Oquendo notes. “I think we’re in a golden age in terms of education and resources, and I think people are figuring it out and upping their makeup game.” Fortunately, there’s a surplus of products that make expert-level color correcting and under-painting a breeze for everyone.

Playful Eyeshadow

Filippo Fortis

On runways and red carpets alike, eyeshadow has become more and more prominent—and I’m not just talking about neutrals. “I’m seeing real color going on here, like serious eyeshadowness,” Oquendo says. It’s not just in the physical looks, either. The latest eyeshadow palette releases have been extra playful. “For a long time, eyeshadow palettes were really boring. Now, I’m seeing more colors,” he adds, noting the rise of minty shades of blue and dark greens.

India Embraces a Holistic Mind–Body Revolution

India Embraces a Holistic Mind–Body Revolution

For centuries, yoga has been India’s greatest gift to the world — a philosophy of movement, breath, and balance. But as wellness evolves into a lifestyle rather than just a practice, a quiet yet powerful shift is taking place across India. A new wave of holistic wellness is emerging, blending ancient wisdom with contemporary self-care.

From bustling metros to serene hill retreats, wellness in India today is taking on new forms. Meditation and yoga are now complemented by sound therapy, breathwork, Ayurveda-based nutrition, and mindfulness workshops. Modern Indians are not only stretching their bodies; they are aligning energies, managing stress, and reconnecting with inner peace.

The pandemic years accelerated this transformation. Wellness became personal and intentional — less about gym memberships or fad diets, and more about emotional balance, immunity, and self-awareness. Post-pandemic India is embracing a slower, more harmonious approach to health.

Ayurveda, once considered “old-school,” is enjoying a revival. Herbal tonics, natural skincare, and traditional recipes are being adapted for modern lifestyles, blending ancient formulations with scientific research to make wellness approachable and credible.

New-age wellness spaces are also booming. Beyond yoga studios, healing hubs now offer reiki, sound baths, journaling circles, and aromatherapy. Weekend retreats in Rishikesh, Auroville, and urban hubs like Bengaluru have become the go-to escape, offering more than relaxation — they promise rejuvenation.

Social media has played a key role in this wellness evolution. Influencers and coaches guide audiences on mental health, mindful eating, and self-care routines. The old fitness culture focused on body goals is giving way to a kinder, holistic narrative that values emotional wellbeing alongside physical strength.

Even the corporate world is adapting. Mindfulness sessions, therapy partnerships, and flexible “well-being hours” are becoming standard, underlining the idea that productivity follows peace.

The most compelling aspect of this transformation is the fusion of India’s ancient traditions with modern global practices. Yoga remains at the core, now complemented by tai chi, pilates, meditation apps, and digital detox challenges. The message is clear: wellness is deeply personal, not one-size-fits-all. As India steps into this new wellness era, it is rediscovering an age-old truth: health is not just the absence of illness — it is the art of balance.

SEIWA launches iVC 3GA-green, a 100% plant-derived sustainable anti-ageing vitamin

SEIWA launches iVC 3GA-green, a 100% plant-derived sustainable anti-ageing vitamin

Property

1.Vitamin C derivative best for vitamin C-concentrated cosmetics

2.Multifaceted anti-aging care

3.Sustainable and Eco-friendly

Background

Vitamin C is known as a beauty ingredient that addresses various skin problems such as brightening, pores and  acne. In recent years, as the growing trend of well-ageing and “Morning C, Evening A” routine have spread via social media and word of mouth, vitamin C-concentrated skincare products have become highly popular  worldwide. However, developing such products is challenging because of vitamin C’s tendency for discolouration and odour change over time, as well as formulation instability. As a result, the amount of vitamin C often has to  be limited, which can make it difficult to achieve sufficient skin benefits.

We believe that the key to maximising the benefits of high-concentration vitamin C is improving its stability, thus we developed iVC™ 3GA-green, a vitamin C derivative* combining stability, skin care benefits and sustained efficacy through our original patented technology. Because iVC™ 3GA-green has excellent stability,  exhibits less discolouration over time and maintains a high residual rate (Figure 1), it is the most suitable ingredient  for high-concentration vitamin C serums or cosmetics.

Stability: the most suitable vitamin C derivative for high-concentration cosmetics (Figure 1)

In terms of the skin care benefits, iVC™ 3GA-green exerts comprehensive anti-aging effects (Figure 2) through multiple mechanisms, such as anti-photoaging effect, promotion of collagen production, and inhibition  of melanin synthesis. Furthermore, it is a 100% plant-derived sustainable ingredient (Figure 3) that minimises  environmental burden even during the manufacturing process.

How to use iVC™ 3GA-green

iVC™ 3GA-green can be used in a wide range of formulations, including skincare, base make-up and sun care  products. Its high stability makes it especially suitable for high-concentration vitamin C serums and cosmetics.  Furthermore, as a sustainable vitamin C derivative, it supports next-generation skincare concepts such as “high concentrated vitamin C × 100% plant-derived” and “high-performance × ethical.”

Self Care: Trendy holiday makeup looks that will make you feel confident at any age

Self Care: Trendy holiday makeup looks that will make you feel confident at any age

This holiday season’s makeup trends are all about shimmer, glow and a healthy dose of self-assurance. Think luminous skin, flushed cheeks and eyes that gleam. For women who’ve earned their laugh lines, it’s less about keeping up with TikTok and more about modern tweaks that flatter, not mask.

“As a woman over 40, I’m here to say that every woman should feel empowered to experiment with their makeup looks and try new trends. There is no age limit on colour and sparkle!” avows Lori Taylor Davis, Global Pro Lead Makeup Artist of Smashbox.

With this in mind, here’s how to wear the season’s prettiest trends without looking stuck in the past.

The eyes have it

Golden eyes were on full display during New York Fashion Week runways this fall. The look works especially well for the holidays, says Taylor Davis.

“Chromatic lids can be fun and playful but also extremely chic, making them perfect for a mature woman.”

Taylor Davis recommends using a metallic eyeliner, such as Smashbox’s Metal FX Eyeliners, that glide on easily to create a wing or just a subtle pop in the inner corner of the eye.

Also on trend this season is a modern take on frost eyes. According to Taylor Davis, frosted eyeshadow instantly elevates by catching the light, adding dimension that’s both playful and polished. Frost eyes are easy to create, and you can even use your fingers.

To get this look, Taylor Davis primes lids with an eyeshadow base or concealer for staying power, before applying a soft matte neutral shade to create depth. Then she glides on a shimmering shadow across the lid.

Lips and cheeks

Plenty of blush trends emerged this year, but “workout blush” mimics the skin’s natural flush after you’ve just exercised. To recreate that rosy hue, Taylor Davis suggests applying the blush lower on the cheeks than you traditionally would to create a naturally flushed look.

As for lips, the Y2K-style nude lip is back. The current version is softer and more tonal, making it flattering across all skin tones, skin types, and ages. For this latest trend, Taylor Davis advises lining lips one shade deeper than your natural lip colour, then choosing a nude lip that matches your undertone. For fair skin that’s beige-pink or peachy nude. Medium and olive-toned skin can try caramel or warm beige. For deep skin, consider mocha, toffee, or warm chocolate nude shades.

It starts with skin care

Before even getting to the makeup stage, you’ll want to ensure your skin is at its best.

“The main focus for all makeup looks, regardless of age or skin types, is ‘acing your base,’ which means perfecting your skin in a way that looks natural,” notes Taylor Davis.

When it comes to skin care, mature women don’t need to follow the latest trends, says Lorna Brown, owner and certified esthetician and laser technician at Refresh MediSpa in Sherwood Park, Alta..

“We want to look hydrated as opposed to dry at our age,” she admits. “A face full of makeup can settle into fine lines and creases, especially if you’re not hydrated.”

If you’ll be wearing more makeup than usual or getting it professionally applied, Brown recommends having a non-evasive facial a month before the big event. Her favourite treatment for prepping skin before big events or photo shoots is dermaplaning.

“We use a surgical scalpel that scrapes up dead skin and all that peach fuzz women tend to get when we’re older. When you have makeup sitting on top of that hair, it accentuates the fuzz. Dermaplaning makes your skin look like glass afterwards, and there’s no downtime,” she shares.

Whenever you’re wearing more makeup than usual or having it professional applied, Brown recommends scheduling a non-evasive facial like dermaplaning or microdermabrasion a month before the big event. If there’s no issues, repeat it a few days before the event.

“People can have different reactions, and it takes about a month to heal if you do,” she warns.
