6 Hacks Nigerian Beauty Artists & Creators Swear By

We have all spent twenty minutes in front of a mirror trying to recreate a viral beauty look, only to end up looking like a completely different person—and not in a good way. You watch your favourite Nigerian beauty creators glide through a full-face application or whip up a sleek natural hairstyle in under ten minutes, making it look so simple. Meanwhile, your foundation is separating, your false lashes are sticking to your fingers instead of your eyelids, and your ponytail tie just snapped in half.

The secret isn’t that they have special genes; they just have a vault of clever, battle-tested tricks that streamline chaotic beauty routines into clean, stress-free results. Through BellaNaija Beauty’s popular #5ForHer series, we sat down with six top Nigerian makeup artists and beauty creators to get the inside scoop on the game-changing hacks they actually rely on daily.

If you are ready to stop fighting your products and start achieving a polished look, here are six creator-approved beauty secrets you need to copy immediately:

Bibyonce’s Layering Makeup Trick

Photo Credit: @bebeomagbemi / Instagram. Apply cream products in thin layers for flawless skin finish

“Apply cream products in thin layers and build gradually. Whether it’s foundation, blush, or bronzer, less is more. The most beautiful makeup looks like skin, not makeup.”

Marycolette’s Trust In Braids

Photo Credit: @marycolette_ / Instagram. You can never go wrong with braids, especially when they’re blonde

“When in doubt, get braids. They’re my ultimate beauty hack because they’re low-maintenance, versatile, and instantly makes me feel more put together without doing too much!”

Sophie Nwachukwu, a.k.a. Highlights By Sophie’s Skin Prep Secret

Photo Credit: @sophiepaulberry/ Instagram. For a flawless soft glam like this, a well-hydrated skin is a must

“A beauty hack that has never failed me as a makeup artist is proper skin prep. Hydrated, well-prepped skin makes every makeup look smoother, longer-lasting, and more flawless because, the makeup is only as good as the canvas underneath it”

Onaopepo Babarinsa’s False Eyelash & Glue Hack

Photo Credit: @onaopepo_a/ Instagram. Apply lash glue to your eye-line directly so your false lashes stick on easier

“I used to REALLYYYY struggle with applying false lashes until I started applying the lash glue to my lash line directly. I actually have a video on this that went viral, it’s my favorite hack ever.”

Tobi Adebiyi’s Hydration Tip For Smoother Makeup Application

Photo Credit: @tobiadebiyii/ Instagram. A well moisturized and hydrated skin makes your makeup application smoother

“Hydration before makeup. As someone with dry skin, I’ve learned that beautiful makeup starts long before foundation. Well-hydrated skin makes makeup apply smoother, last longer, and look more radiant throughout the day.”

Oyinn Abdul’s Natural Hair Styling Tip

Photo Credit: @oyinnabdul/ Instagram. Use bobby pins and a piece of attachment to secure your bun or ponytail

“One of my favourite hair hacks is using an old, stretched-out hair tie to pack my hair quickly. I usually cut the hair tie and attach bobby pins to the ends, which makes it so much easier to secure my hair in different ways. I use it to pack my natural hair, create a base for a ponytail and even style my braids in different ways. It takes seconds, and it’s one of those little tricks that has genuinely never failed me”.

Fun Beauty Hacks for That Give a Confidence Boost

Fun Beauty Hacks for That Give a Confidence Boost

Beauty does not always have to be serious, technical, or perfectly optimized. Some of the most effective beauty habits are the ones that feel playful, personal, and a little indulgent. When beauty routines are approached as small moments of enjoyment rather than obligations, they tend to deliver something more valuable than polish. They offer confidence.

Beauty hacks are less about chasing trends and more about finding what feels good and works anywhere. This guide focuses on simple, enjoyable ways to boost confidence through beauty choices that travel well, feel luxurious, and keep the process light.

Dress for Fun and Comfort Starting With the Right Foundation

What you wear underneath your outfit plays a quiet but important role in how everything else feels. Comfort, fit, and mood all matter here. You don’t want undergarments you’ll be fiddling with or feeling self-conscious in.

Whether you want to wear fun Valentine lingerie under your favorite pair of jeans or you love how a good bodysuit smooths everything out, the right undergarments set the tone for the rest of your clothes. Choosing pieces that feel good against your skin and move with your body can subtly change posture, ease, and overall confidence. When your foundation feels right, getting dressed becomes less about adjustment and more about enjoyment.

Effortless Hairstyles That Feel Polished Anywhere You Go

Hair is one of the quickest ways to shift how put together you feel, but it can also be the most frustrating part of a routine. The key is mastering a few reliable styles that work across different settings and climates.

While you may not be a hairdresser, you are capable of mastering everyday hairstyles no matter your hair type. Simple techniques can work for a wide range of hair textures and lengths. Styles that rely on clean lines, soft volume, or intentional texture tend to translate well whether you are traveling, heading to dinner, or exploring a new city. The confidence boost comes from knowing you have options that do not require perfect conditions or a full toolkit.

Glow-Enhancing Skin Tricks That Feel Luxurious, Not Complicated

Great skin often comes down to consistency and small habits rather than elaborate routines. One of the simplest beauty hacks is focusing on glow rather than coverage.

Hydrating mists, lightweight oils, and gentle exfoliation help skin look refreshed without feeling heavy. When skin feels comfortable, makeup becomes optional rather than necessary. This is especially useful when traveling, where climate changes and long days can make skin feel unpredictable. A glow-first approach keeps beauty routines flexible and forgiving.

Makeup Shortcuts That Highlight, Not Hide

Makeup does not need to transform your face to boost confidence. Often, the most effective approach is enhancing one or two features and leaving the rest minimal.

Cream products, multitasking sticks, and sheer formulas are particularly useful for creating a fresh look without much effort. A touch of color on cheeks or lips can instantly shift mood and energy without requiring precision. These shortcuts are ideal for moments when you want to feel polished but still like yourself.

Small Rituals That Make Getting Ready Feel Special

Beauty hacks are not only about products. They are also about the experience. Turning everyday routines into small rituals can have a surprisingly strong effect on confidence.

This might mean applying skincare slowly instead of rushing, playing music while getting ready, or choosing scents that evoke a specific feeling. These moments signal care and attention, which often shows in posture and presence. When beauty routines feel enjoyable, they naturally become more consistent.

Confidence Through Personal Style Choices

One of the most underrated beauty hacks is trusting your own taste. Trends can inspire, but confidence tends to come from choices that feel authentic.

Whether it is a signature lip color, a favorite hairstyle, or a specific way of layering clothing, repeating what works builds familiarity and ease. Over time, these choices become part of your personal style language. Confidence grows when beauty feels like an extension of who you are rather than a performance.

Beauty That Travels Well and Feels Light

For those who travel often, beauty routines need to be adaptable. Hacks that rely on versatility, comfort, and enjoyment are far easier to maintain on the road.

Lightweight products, dependable hair techniques, and thoughtful wardrobe foundations help keep confidence steady even in unfamiliar environments. Beauty becomes supportive rather than stressful. This is especially important in luxury travel, where the goal is often to feel present and relaxed rather than overly curated.

Confidence That Comes From Enjoying the Process

The most effective beauty hacks are not the ones that promise perfection. They are the ones that make you feel good while getting ready and comfortable while moving through the day.

When beauty is approached with curiosity, playfulness, and intention, confidence follows naturally. It becomes less about how you look and more about how you feel. That shift is what makes beauty truly fun and genuinely empowering.

Viral
beauty
hacks
spread
fast
on
social
media,
but
many
people
wonder
if
they
really
work
in
daily
life.
Two
popular
tricks
are
the
“frozen
beauty
blender” for
smoother
foundation
and
“tape
eyeliner”
for
sharp
wings.
This
article
looks
at
how
each
hack
works,
how
to
try
it,
and
possible
downsides.

The
frozen
beauty
blender
hack
suggests
you
wet
your
makeup
sponge,
place
it
in
the
freezer
for
a
short
time,
then
use
it
cold.
Fans
claim
it
gives
a
smoother
base,
smaller
looking
pores,
and
helps
makeup
last
longer.
The
idea
is
that
cold
helps
calm
the
skin
and
reduce
shine.

The
article
explores
the
effectiveness
and
methods
of
two
viral
beauty
hacks:
using
a
frozen
beauty
blender,
which
potentially
smooths
foundation
and
reduces
shine,
and
tape
eyeliner,
which
aims
to
create
sharp
winged
eyeliner.
It
examines
the
benefits,
downsides,
and
suitability
of
each
technique
for
various
skin
types
and
preferences.

First,
run
your
beauty
blender
under
clean
water
until
it
swells.
Squeeze
out
extra
water
so
it
is
damp,
not
dripping.
Place
the
sponge
in
a
clean
container
or
bag
and
put
it
in
the
freezer
for
around
ten
to
fifteen
minutes.
Take
it
out
when
cool
and
firm,
then
apply
liquid
foundation
as
usual.

Does
the
frozen
beauty
blender
hack
actually
work?

The
cold
sponge
can
feel
fresh
on
the
skin
and
may
reduce
some
puffiness
for
a
short
time.
It
can
also
slow
how
fast
foundation
dries,
which
may
help
with
blending.
Many
users
see
smoother
makeup
in
cooler
weather
or
on
normal
to
oily
skin,
but
results
vary
from
person
to
person.

Benefits
of
using
a
frozen
beauty
blender

A
chilled
sponge
may
help
foundation
look
more
even,
especially
around
the
nose
and
cheeks.
The
cool
touch
can
calm
mild
redness
for
a
while.
In
hot
Indian
weather,
it
may
feel
more
comfortable
than
a
warm
tool.
People
with
oily
skin
sometimes
feel
it
helps
makeup
sit
better
and
stay
less
greasy
during
the
day.

Possible
downsides
of
the
frozen
beauty
blender
hack

Keeping
a
sponge
in
the
freezer
for
too
long
can
make
it
very
stiff
and
less
easy
to
bounce
on
the
skin.
Very
cold
tools
may
not
feel
good
on
sensitive
skin.
If
the
sponge
is
not
stored
cleanly,
there
is
also
a
risk
of
germs.
Some
dry
skin
types
may
feel
tighter
or
flaky
after
using
a
chilled
sponge.

Who
might
like
or
skip
the
frozen
beauty
blender

This
hack
may
suit
people
with
normal
to
combination
or
oily
skin
who
enjoy
a
cooling
effect
while
doing
base
makeup.
It
might
not
suit
very
dry
or
sensitive
skin,
or
those
prone
to
redness
and
irritation.
If
you
dislike
cold
on
your
face,
the
small
benefit
in
blend
may
not
feel
worth
the
discomfort.

What
is
the
tape
eyeliner
hack?

The
tape
eyeliner
hack
uses
small
strips
of
tape
placed
at
the
outer
corner
of
the
eye
to
guide
liquid
or
gel
eyeliner.
The
tape
acts
like
a
stencil
to
help
draw
a
sharp,
angled
wing.
Many
people
online
use
this
trick
to
get
both
wings
the
same
shape
and
angle.

How
to
try
the
tape
eyeliner
hack
safely

Cut
a
short
strip
of
gentle
tape
and
stick
it
on
the
back
of
your
hand
first.
This
step
reduces
the
glue
strength.
Place
the
tape
along
the
outer
corner
of
your
eye,
pointing
toward
the
end
of
your
brow.
Draw
your
eyeliner
along
the
edge,
fill
in
the
wing,
let
it
dry,
then
slowly
peel
off
the
tape.

Does
the
tape
eyeliner
hack
actually
work?

For
many
people,
tape
does
give
a
clean,
straight
wing
edge.
It
can
help
beginners
understand
what
angle
suits
their
eye
shape.
The
guide
also
reduces
fear
of
making
the
line
too
thick.
However,
the
result
depends
on
tape
placement,
hand
control,
and
the
kind
of
eyeliner
used.

Benefits
of
using
tape
for
eyeliner

The
tape
eyeliner
hack
can
save
time
if
you
often
need
to
fix
uneven
wings.
It
acts
like
a
ruler
for
your
makeup,
which
some
users
find
helpful
before
big
events
or
photos.
Once
you
learn
the
right
angle,
it
may
also
teach
muscle
memory,
so
later
you
can
draw
a
wing
freehand
with
more
ease.

Possible
risks
and
limits
of
the
tape
eyeliner
hack

Tape
can
tug
the
thin
skin
near
the
eyes
when
removed,
which
some
people
find
harsh.
Strong
glue
may
cause
redness
or
leave
marks
for
a
short
time.
If
the
tape
is
not
placed
in
the
same
spot
on
both
sides,
wings
can
still
look
uneven.
Those
with
very
sensitive
or
allergy‑prone
skin
may
wish
to
avoid
tape
near
the
eye
area.

Glow Like The Christmas Lights: Expert Skincare Hacks For Winter Festivities | Lifestyle News

Last Updated:December 23, 2025, 15:46 IST

Aesthetic experts share winter skincare tips to combat dryness, dullness, and dehydration during Christmas and New Year celebrations for healthy, glowing skin.

Cold air, low humidity, indoor heating, late nights, and heavy makeup can quickly dull that holiday glow, unless your skincare routine rises to the occasion.

Christmas and New Year are nothing short of magical. Streets glow with fairy lights, playlists turn festive, calendars fill up with parties, and every evening feels like an occasion worth dressing up for. But while the season lifts our spirits, winter quietly takes a toll on our skin. Cold air, low humidity, indoor heating, late nights, and heavy makeup can quickly dull that holiday glow, unless your skincare routine rises to the occasion.

According to Dr Milli Sinha, Aesthetic Physician at La Clinique and expert, Oteria, winter festivities significantly weaken the skin’s natural defence system. “The skin barrier breaks down more easily during winter due to low humidity, cold temperatures, and prolonged indoor heating,” she explains. “This leads to increased water loss, dehydration, and sensitivity. Add late-night parties and heavy makeup to the mix, and the skin’s natural recovery cycle gets disrupted making it look dull and fatigued.”

Her advice? A routine rooted in gentle cleansing, barrier repair, antioxidants, and consistent hydration to restore skin strength and maintain a healthy glow through the festive season.

Echoing this sentiment, Pravin Bera, co-founder, Dr Rashel, highlights the importance of season-appropriate skincare. “Winter festivities often mean longer nights, heavier makeup, and frequent exposure to cold weather, all of which can dehydrate the skin and affect its texture,” he says. “Keeping the routine simple, gentle, and hydration-focused is key to preventing dullness, congestion, and sensitivity.”

With expert-backed insight guiding the way, here are festive-season skincare hacks to help you glow as bright as the Christmas lights.

1. Double Cleanse, Don’t Over-Cleanse

After long days of party makeup, sunscreen, and winter pollution, cleansing should feel like care not punishment. Start with a nourishing oil or balm cleanser to dissolve makeup and grime, followed by a gentle, hydrating face wash. Ingredients like white tea offer antioxidant protection, soothe inflammation, and help keep fine lines and pigmentation in check—leaving skin clean, calm, and luminous.

2. Hydration Layering Is Non-Negotiable

Winter calls for more than a single moisturising step. Adopt the “skin flooding” technique by layering hydration: begin with a hydrating toner or essence, follow with a hyaluronic acid serum, and seal it in with a cream enriched with ingredients like horse chestnut seed extract to support microcirculation and skin vitality.

3. Antioxidants Are Your Festive Shield

Late nights, indulgent meals, and pollution increase oxidative stress. Vitamin C, niacinamide, and green tea extracts work overtime to brighten dull skin, even out tone, and protect against environmental damage ensuring your glow stays uninterrupted throughout the celebrations.

4. Mist to Instantly Revive Your Glow

Skip heavy touch-ups and keep a lightweight hydrating mist in your bag. A quick spritz refreshes makeup, soothes dryness, and revives tired skin instantly perfect for long evenings, packed schedules, and back-to-back celebrations.

5. Night Repair Is Where the Glow Builds

Winter nights are prime time for skin recovery. Use barrier-repairing night creams with retinol to support collagen production and firmness. Pair this with an under-eye serum infused with sweet orange and brown algae to reduce puffiness and signs of fatigue. This post-party ritual helps skin bounce back from late nights, rich food, and cold air, so you wake up looking rested and radiant.

Festive skincare isn’t about excess, it’s about intention. With the right balance of hydration, protection, and repair, your skin can stay calm, resilient, and luminous all season long. After all, the best festive glow isn’t just makeup-deep, it starts with healthy, well-cared-for skin.

Fast
day-to-evening

switch

Sometimes
work
events
follow

Beauty trick or ick? What you should know before trying viral skincare hacks – NBC 6 South Florida

Beauty trick or ick? What you should know before trying viral skincare hacks – NBC 6 South Florida

Chances are, your social media feed may be filled with “game-changing” beauty hacks, and millions of people are copying them, hoping for the same results. But there are some red flags you should look out for.

From flawless skin to a transformed look, you can find just about every beauty fad on your feed these days.

“Anything that really promises a quick fix to a rather challenging problem with skin has not been really great, and usually I see these on TikTok,” said Amy Peterson, the owner of Skincare by Amy Peterson, a highly regarded Miami boutique medspa focused on noninvasive skin and body treatments.

Among her clients are celebrities and influencers. The esthetician cautions against DIY mole removals, powerful acids, and trends like slugging that could lead to breakouts.

“Slugging is when you use lots of occlusive ointments and you seal in your skincare or multiple layers of it. We really never recommend that,” she said.

In one woman’s case, following that trend caused a reaction, and she warns of paying attention to ingredients because what works for an influencer may not necessarily work for you.

“I think that the viewers need to understand that these influencers are part of a business,” she said. “That is how they make their money, and while some things are great that they are sharing, some things are not so great.”

Bottom line, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is, including those faux freckles, typically attained with makeup or a face tattoo.

“Think something through before you do it. Do not just think of the immediate, ‘I am going to have freckles that I am going to create myself,'” Peterson said. “Think about what could potentially happen. Do some research and ask a professional their opinion.”

That’s because not every trend that earns likes will earn you healthy skin.

“If it is a fad, if it is a trend, it is not really timeless,” she said. “And if we are looking at our appearance and who we really want to show up as, I would always choose the more timeless approach, not the trend. Save that for your wardrobe.”

The risk with some of the viral beauty trends is that there is little oversight. The best advice is that what you see is not one size fits all, so consult with a professional.
