Why Cloud Skin Is the Next Big Thing After Glass Skin in Korean Beauty Trends for K-Beauty

Korean beauty trends have long shaped global skincare and makeup standards, from multi-step routines to complexion-focused aesthetics. For years, glass skin dominated the conversation with its ultra-glossy, reflective finish. However, as beauty preferences evolve, a softer and more wearable look is gaining momentum. Enter cloud skin, a rising trend expected to define K-beauty 2025 with its balanced, diffused glow and effortless elegance.

This shift reflects changing lifestyles, climate considerations, and a growing preference for skin that looks healthy rather than flawless. Cloud skin offers a modern alternative that still embraces the signature dewy look associated with Korean beauty, but in a more understated way.

What Is Cloud Skin?

Cloud skin is a complexion trend characterized by a soft-focus, velvety finish that mimics naturally well-moisturized skin. Instead of a high-shine surface, it delivers a subtle luminosity that appears smooth, fresh, and breathable. The goal is skin that looks calm and refined, with light reflecting gently rather than sharply.

Unlike glass skin, which prioritizes intense hydration and visible shine, cloud skin focuses on balance. Hydration remains essential, but it is paired with texture refinement to create a diffused glow. This approach aligns with broader Korean beauty trends that emphasize skin health, realism, and comfort.

Why Glass Skin Is Falling Out of Favor

Glass skin gained popularity for its aspirational, almost porcelain-like appearance. However, maintaining such a look often requires multiple layers of products and frequent touch-ups. As consumers become more ingredient-conscious and time-aware, overly complex routines are losing appeal.

Additionally, climate and lifestyle factors play a role. In humid environments or busy daily schedules, high-shine finishes can feel impractical. Cloud skin addresses these concerns by offering a polished appearance that is easier to maintain, making it more suitable for everyday wear in K-beauty 2025.

How Cloud Skin Differs From Glass Skin

The primary difference lies in finish and intention. Glass skin aims for maximum luminosity, often resulting in a wet or glossy appearance. Cloud skin, on the other hand, sits between matte and dewy. It softens the skin’s surface while retaining a healthy glow.

From a visual standpoint, cloud skin blurs imperfections rather than highlighting them with shine. It creates an even complexion that looks naturally smooth, making it appealing to those seeking a refined but low-effort dewy look.

What Does Cloud Skin Look Like?

Visually, cloud skin appears plush and airy, much like the name suggests. The skin looks hydrated without appearing oily, with pores and fine lines subtly blurred. Light reflects softly across the face, giving a fresh and youthful impression.

This aesthetic aligns with modern Korean beauty trends that favor understated elegance. Instead of dramatic finishes, the focus is on skin that looks consistently healthy throughout the day.

Are you ready for the cloud skin trend?

How to Achieve the Cloud Skin Look

Skincare Approach

The foundation of cloud skin begins with proper skincare. Lightweight hydration is key, using products that moisturize without leaving residue. Toners, essences, and gel-based moisturizers help maintain skin balance while supporting the skin barrier.

Exfoliation and barrier care are also important, as smooth texture enhances the soft-focus effect central to cloud skin. Overly rich or heavy products are generally avoided.

Makeup Techniques

Makeup for cloud skin is minimal and strategic. Sheer foundations or skin tints with satin finishes are preferred over full-coverage formulas. Light powder application helps control excess shine while preserving luminosity.

Blurring primers and soft-finish cushions are commonly used to enhance the diffused glow. The result is a complexion that feels breathable and natural, aligning with the evolving standards of K-beauty 2025.

Products Commonly Associated With Cloud Skin

Cloud skin relies on thoughtfully selected products that enhance hydration and texture without creating excessive shine. Instead of heavy layering, this approach prioritizes lightweight formulas that support a soft, diffused finish while maintaining a natural dewy look associated with modern Korean beauty trends.

  • Lightweight hydrating toners and essences that prep the skin without residue
  • Gel or lotion-type moisturizers that balance moisture and absorption
  • Sheer foundations or skin tints with satin or soft-matte finishes
  • Blurring primers or finely milled powders used sparingly to refine texture

Why Cloud Skin Is Trending in K-Beauty 2025

The rise of cloud skin reflects broader shifts within K-beauty 2025, where practicality and skin realism are becoming more important than high-shine perfection. As routines simplify and consumer expectations evolve, cloud skin offers a more adaptable interpretation of the classic dewy look.

  • Preference for wearable, everyday-friendly Korean beauty trends
  • Increased emphasis on skin health and comfort over dramatic finishes
  • Influence of celebrities and digital beauty content promoting softer aesthetics
  • Greater adaptability across skin types, climates, and lifestyles

Conclusion

The transition from glass skin to cloud skin signals a new chapter in Korean beauty trends. With its soft-focus finish and balanced dewy look, cloud skin offers a more wearable and inclusive approach to complexion aesthetics. As K-beauty 2025 approaches, this trend is set to redefine how healthy, radiant skin is perceived. It’s less about shine, and more about harmony.

The K-Beauty essence that gave me the dewiest skin of my life is 25% off

The K-Beauty essence that gave me the dewiest skin of my life is 25% off

The CosRx snail essence is the best new addition to my skincare routine this year. Despite years of trying, I’ve accepted the fact that I will simply never be a minimalist. This is true of my wardrobe, my apartment (my decor style is closer to your grandma’s attic than the curated bookshelves on Instagram), and my skincare routine. Undeterred by my dermatologist’s warnings to pare down and keep things simple, I’m always taking a more-is-more approach in pursuit of smooth, glowy skin. It has led to some disasters, sure, but it’s also how I stumbled onto CosRX’s Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Power Essence, or CosRx snail essence, put more simply. This cult K-Beauty product did the impossible and streamlined my routine.

If you’re unfamiliar, essences are popular in Korean skincare for their extra moisturising powers, and have made their way Stateside in recent years (SK-II’s is a more obvious, well-known favourite). They can range from a really watery texture to a thicker jelly, and are used after toning and before serums or moisturisers to add extra hydration. They also help your following products absorb even better.

CosRX’s bestselling Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Power Essence has a lightweight texture, but sits closer to the jelly end of the spectrum and feels a little sticky to the touch. Not going to lie: The texture takes some getting used to (mostly because the name of the product and the tackiness made me think of snails crawling on me — a lovely visual), but I got past it quickly once I saw the results. Literally overnight, it transformed my tired, dehydrated skin into a plumper, more dewy complexion I almost didn’t recognise. This was not the skin of someone who stays up late weeks on end to re-binge Sex and the City. I actually looked like a woman who sleeps.

The Snail Mucin Power Essence claims to target wrinkles, acne, dry skin, scarring, and overall brightness — and it’s no lie. I’ve been using it for a little over a month, and it has continued to significantly fade the hyperpigmentation left over from pre-Accutane breakouts, (my top skin concern). Not to mention, it has been great at fighting off winter dryness.

Now, about the snail. As you’ve probably gathered, the hero ingredient is snail mucin, a.k.a. snail slime. It sounds gross, but it’s a beloved K-beauty ingredient thanks to its superior healing properties, which help calm breakouts and fade. It also contains panthenol, a form of vitamin B5, to hydrate and plump up your skin, which explains my dewy complexion.

As for finally becoming a minimalist, I’ve found this so effective that I’ve been skipping other serums altogether. In the morning, I’ll just wash my face, apply the Snail Mucin Essence while it’s still damp, and throw on a simple moisturiser before applying makeup.

At night, I’ll do the same, adding in oil after the essence and swapping Skin Food for my lightweight moisturiser. I’ll use Pixi Glow Tonic every other night to exfoliate and will add in a vitamin C serum when I remember, but for the most part the Snail Essence is doing the heavy lifting when it comes to pigmentation and hydration.

I’m sure I’ll slip back into my old ways eventually and return to the hunt for the next best thing, but for now, this essence is all I need to keep my skin on track.

The Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Power Essence is currently 25% off at Cult Beauty, making it £20.99 instead of £27.99. You can also pick it up for £19.59 at LookFantastic and on Amazon.

Incellderm Announces Continued Global Expansion and Innovation in Premium K-Beauty Skincare

Incellderm, a leading name in Korean beauty, today reaffirms its commitment to delivering high-performance, science-driven skincare that supports skin health at a cellular level. With its global footprint expanding rapidly, Incellderm addresses the growing demand for routines that promote long-term radiance without resorting to harsh treatments.

About Incellderm

Founded in South Korea, Incellderm has garnered strong recognition for its focus on advanced dermatological formulations, combining patented botanical ingredients such as Giant Byungpool (a proprietary variety of Centella Asiatica) with Jeju Island’s volcanic lava-filtered water and liposome delivery technology. The brand reports over USD 2.5 billion in sales over the past five years.
Its philosophy emphasises skin support rather than suppression — building barrier resilience, reducing inflammation, and promoting regeneration rather than relying solely on aggressive actives.

Key Developments

  • Ingredient Innovation: Incellderm has secured exclusive rights to the use of Giant Byungpool and Jeju Lava Energy Water in its formulations, providing a distinctive botanical-scientific basis for its product range.
  • Global Market Growth: While rooted in the Korean market, the brand has expanded into North America, Europe, and other regions via online distribution, meeting demand from consumers seeking results-oriented yet gentle skincare routines.
  • Educational Focus: Recognising that modern consumers prioritise clarity and routine simplicity, Incellderm positions its products as part of a strategic skin-care ritual rather than a trend-driven gimmick. Emphasis is placed on long-term care, consistent use, and measurable skin health outcomes.

Market Context

In 2025, consumer behaviour in skincare continues its shift toward minimal-effective routines, ingredient transparency, and skin health over temporary cosmetic fixes. In this environment, the Korean skincare model — which emphasises preventative care, gentle formulations and ritual-based routines — retains strong appeal. Incellderm’s model aligns with these preferences, offering premium formulations backed by botanical science.

Looking Ahead

Incellderm plans to roll out specialised product lines targeting advanced skin concerns such as barrier restoration, post-acne sequelae, and environmental stress defence. These launches will coincide with educational campaigns designed to help consumers integrate high-performance skincare into sustainable daily habits.

About the Company

Incellderm is part of the RIMAN corporation, headquartered in Irvine, California, and Seoul, South Korea. The brand has earned numerous domestic and international awards for brand power and innovation, with a strong orientation toward research-based skincare and global expansion.
