Secret to hydrated skin? It is avocado

Secret to hydrated skin? It is avocado

Follow this guide

What’s the story

African avocados are becoming increasingly popular for their skin benefits.
Rich in vitamins and healthy fats, these avocados can be a great addition to your skincare routine.
They are known to nourish and hydrate the skin, making it look healthy and glowing.
Here is how you can use African avocados for skincare, and the benefits they offer.

Nutrient-rich composition

African avocados are loaded with essential nutrients, such as vitamin E, vitamin C, and potassium.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects the skin from free radicals, while vitamin C promotes collagen production for elasticity.
Potassium helps in keeping the skin hydrated by retaining moisture.
These nutrients work together to keep the skin healthy and youthful.

Hydration boost

The healthy fats in African avocados are great for keeping the skin moisturized.
They form a protective barrier on the skin’s surface, preventing moisture loss. This is especially helpful for people with dry or flaky skin.
By adding avocado oil or pulp into your skincare routine, you can achieve softer and more supple skin.

Anti-aging properties

African avocados also have anti-aging properties, thanks to their high antioxidant content.
Antioxidants fight oxidative stress that causes premature aging signs, such as wrinkles and fine lines.
Regular use of avocado-based products may reduce these signs over time, giving you a youthful appearance.

Versatile application methods

There are several ways to use African avocados in your skincare routine.
You can apply them directly as a face mask by mashing the pulp, or use avocado oil as a moisturizer or serum.
Mixing avocado with other natural ingredients, like honey or yogurt, can enhance its benefits further while catering to different skin types and concerns.

5 ways to keep your skin glowing & hydrated

5 ways to keep your skin glowing & hydrated

A healthy, radiant-looking skin is not just about appearance; it signifies far more than looks, building the foundation of confidence and well-being while displaying smart skincare habits, internal nourishment, lifestyle tweaks, and the body’s overall health. However, unrelenting exposure to pollution, environmental stressors, extreme weather conditions, and inadequate care can strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture, making it dull, dry and even prone to wrinkles and premature aging. To achieve healthier skin that promises radiance and vitality, regular protection and proper nourishment are key elements of skincare rituals to counteract the side effects of compromised skin. Here are five essential tips to ensure your skin looks well-hydrated, radiant, and refreshed.

1.Master Your Fluids Intake

Water plays a crucial role in nourishing the skin at the cellular level, which helps maintain its elasticity, softness, and barrier function. A well-hydrated skin secures the moisture and potentially reduces the chances of getting a parched, dull complexion. Adding adequate fluid consumption such as fresh fruit juices, coconut water, and herbal teas, supports blood circulation and supplies essential nutrients and oxygen to skin cells. Incorporating these conscious habits to your daily skincare rituals can support the skin’s overall health, making it healthier, radiant, and well-moisturised.

2. Nourishing From Within Is Key

Serums that are rich in ceramides or hyaluronic acid are crucial in keeping the skin hydrated from within. Ceramides are lipids that are naturally built in the skin that safeguard our skin’s protective barrier, guarding it against harmful environmental stressors, and gradually offer moisture to the skin. Hyaluronic acid is another powerful moisturising agent that absorbs and retains water in the skin, keeping the complexion plump, smooth, and hydrated. Individuals looking for professional alternatives can go for bio‑remodeling treatment that deeply hydrates and revitalizes skin from the inside out, stimulating natural restorative processes for healthier and balanced-looking skin.

3. Use SPF Irrespective Of Seasons

Sunscreen is not meant to be used only for sunny days as harmful UV rays continue to wreak havoc throughout the year. Applying SPF on a regular basis safeguards the skin from premature aging, breakouts, red rashes, and uneven skin tone. Combining the use of moisturizer with SPF will keep your skin hydrated and protect it from UVA and UVB rays that often lead to fine lines, pigmentation and flaky skin. Use it regularly to reduce the risk of dark spots, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity.

4. Investing In Advanced Skincare

Invest in advanced skincare that focuses on target solutions with modern formulations. Clinically proven ingredients like peptides and antioxidants work together to repair, rejuvenate and nourish the skin. Antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, green tea essentials, and niacinamide safeguard the skin from external damage, soothe irritants, and lower the chance of inflammation. Peptides boost collagen, reduce premature aging, and enhance skin’s firmness. Individuals who need to address concerns like lax or weakened elasticity can consider platforms like Harmony XL PRO, designed to cater to all age groups, which boosts the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production, thereby strengthening firmness and blocking moisture.

5. Do Not Underestimate Beauty Sleep

It is a scientifically proven fact that 8–9 hours of sleep is the best way to achieve a radiantly glowing complexion. Quality sleep amplifies collagen production, which aids in maintaining skin firmness and alleviates the appearance of fine lines. Optimal sleeping routine additionally keeps cortisol, the stress hormone, low, thereby preventing inflammation and breakouts. Deep sleep provides our skin the time it needs to rest and reset so that it rejuvenates and looks its best.

Takeaway

A well-hydrated and refreshed skin is far beyond the realm of beauty and cosmetic exuberance, it is a demonstration of self-care, self-esteem, and lots of self-love. By focusing on conscious and reliable skincare brands, products and routines that nourish the skin from inside, you can easily achieve a fresh, glowy, and well-hydrated complexion that feels as good as it looks.

Charlie Parker, senior nutritionist at Ocado Retail, said: “Hydration-focused products are being increasingly seen by consumers as daily wellness essentials. "Customers are choosing these products to support their health and wellbeing as much as for exercise. We’re seeing a clear shift towards functional ingredients such as vitamin-enhanced water, better-for-you choices and products that help people feel hydrated throughout busy and cold winter days.”

35% of UK adults find it more difficult to stay hydrated during winter, according to Ocado

According to Ocado Retail, 78% of UK adults believe hydration is as important in winter as it is during the summer months.

New research, published yesterday (29 December), highlighted 22% have replaced caffeinated tea or coffee. This figure rises to 36% for Gen Z and Millennials. It also stated 38% of respondents find it more difficult to stay hydrated during the winter.

The retailer reported that its sales of flavoured water, electrolytes and vitamin waters are up 66% year-on-year. Searches for liquid IV have also grown rapidly, increasing by 733%.

Ocado believes the new trend is mainly driven by “health benefits”, with 56% of respondents highlighting an improvement to their focus, mood and energy levels when having drunk enough.

Paddy Cavanagh-Butler, founder of Punchy, said: “Winter is when people often forget to hydrate, but it’s also when your body needs it most. At punchy we’re seeing a big shift in how people think about hydration.

“Especially in winter when central heating, longer days indoors and seasonal bugs all take their toll. Our wellness blend of real fruit powder, 5 immunity-boosting vitamins, 7 electrolytes and minerals, gives people a simple way to help their wellbeing, especially during the colder months when energy can dip, and routines get busy.”

It also highlighted that 35% thought hydration drinks were healthier or as healthy as water.

According to the retailer, 42% of adults are also buying more hydrating skincare products, rising to 67% of Gen Z consumers. Ocado has seen a 30% rise month-on-month for hydrating skincare.

Ocado has highlighted that one of the major reasons for the shift is social media, with 38% of shoppers reporting that they had seen more hydration-related posts.

Charlie Parker, senior nutritionist at Ocado Retail, said: “Hydration-focused products are being increasingly seen by consumers as daily wellness essentials.

“Customers are choosing these products to support their health and wellbeing as much as for exercise. We’re seeing a clear shift towards functional ingredients such as vitamin-enhanced water, better-for-you choices and products that help people feel hydrated throughout busy and cold winter days.”

Night Skincare Tips for Glowing, Hydrated Skin – Experts Explain

Taking care of your skin before you sleep can work wonders for your skin. According to experts, a well-structured nighttime skincare routine gives skin an opportunity to repair and heal itself from daily damage from sun exposure, pollution, makeup or stress and wake up with healthy and rejuvenated skin.

Step 1: Remove makeup and sunscreen.

Dermatologists emphasise that it’s essential to remove makeup or apply sunscreen during the day before going to sleep. They suggest using an oil-based cleanser or micellar water; these are better options for dissolving heavy makeup, sunscreen and the dirt your skin accumulates throughout the day. Leaving makeup or sunscreen overnight can irritate the skin or clog pores.

Step 2: Cleanse gently.

After makeup removal, a gentle facial wash is important. Cleansing helps remove dirt, sweat, pollution and excess oil even on days when there is no makeup applied on the skin. Experts warn against harsh scrubbing or strong soaps, as these are harmful and can strip away the skin’s natural oils, possibly leading to dryness or irritation.

Step 3: Exfoliate – but only occasionally

Exfoliation helps clear dead skin cells and supports skin turnover. Chemical exfoliants like AHAs or BHAs are more effective and gentler than harsh physical scrubs, especially for mature skin. Use exfoliation two to three times a week, but avoid combining exfoliation with retinol treatments on the same night, as this can dry out or irritate skin.

Step 4: Tone and apply targeted treatments

After cleansing or exfoliation, a toner can restore your skin’s pH balance and prime it for more treatment. Experts recommend targeted treatments such as retinol (for ageing concerns), niacinamide (for redness or brightening) or BHA (for acne-prone skin). Retinol should ideally be introduced gradually, starting 1–2 times per week.

Step 5: Hydrate and moisturise

The final step is hydration. Apply serums that give hydration deep into the skin, creams or oils to seal in moisture, and optionally eye creams to address puffiness, dark circles or fine lines. Finish with a nourishing moisturiser to lock everything in overnight.

Extras: Masks or beauty tools (optional)

For additional care, face masks or beauty tools like LED masks or facial massagers can boost results, but they should be applied occasionally. Experts say they are not essential but can complement the nightly routine.

According to dermatologists, a regular nighttime skincare routine – cleansing, treating, hydrating – is “like pressing a reset button” for your skin every night.

Saffron Remedies For Hydrated, Bright Skin

Saffron Remedies For Hydrated, Bright Skin

Winter often brings dryness, dullness, and flaky skin due to cold winds and low humidity. Saffron, with its natural antioxidants and hydrating properties, helps restore glow, soothe irritation, and lock in moisture. It’s a luxurious remedy to combat winter skin woes while adding radiance. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron & Milk Glow Pack: Cold weather can make skin look lifeless. Soak saffron strands in warm milk and apply as a face pack. The lactic acid in milk gently exfoliates while saffron brightens, leaving skin soft and luminous even in harsh winter. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron & Honey Hydration Mask: Winter dryness calls for deep hydration. Mix saffron with honey and apply to the face. Honey acts as a humectant, locking in moisture, while saffron enhances glow, perfect for combating flaky skin. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron & Sandalwood Anti-Acne Pack: Winter can trigger breakouts due to heavy creams and dry air. Blend saffron with sandalwood powder and rose water to calm inflammation, reduce acne, and keep skin clear during the season. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron-Infused Oil: Massage saffron-infused almond or olive oil at night. This nourishes skin deeply, prevents winter-induced roughness, and repairs damage caused by cold winds. It’s a natural alternative to heavy moisturizers. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron & Turmeric Brightening Mask: Winter often dulls complexion. Mix saffron with turmeric and yogurt to reduce pigmentation and restore brightness. Yogurt hydrates while turmeric and saffron revive tired skin. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron Water Toner: Steep saffron strands in warm water overnight and use as a toner. In winter, this refreshes skin without stripping natural oils, keeping it supple and hydrated. (Image: AI Generated)

Bonus Tips: Use saffron masks 2-3 times a week to maintain glow. Always follow up with a rich moisturizer or oil after saffron treatments. Pair saffron packs with lukewarm water rinses; avoid hot water which worsens dryness. How to Keep Skin Healthy, Hydrated, and Radiant

How to Keep Skin Healthy, Hydrated, and Radiant

As temperatures drop and cold winds sweep in, winter poses unique challenges for the skin. Dryness, irritation, dullness, and a compromised skin barrier are among the most common issues people face during the colder months. Maintaining healthy skin in winter doesn’t require complicated routines or multiple layers of products—it’s about adopting mindful practices and choosing the right formulations to support your skin’s natural defenses.

One of the most effective strategies for winter skincare is strengthening the skin barrier. A resilient barrier helps the skin retain moisture, protect against environmental stressors, and reduce irritation. Products containing nourishing ingredients such as ceramides, natural oils, and hyaluronic acid can play a crucial role in reinforcing this barrier. Simple seasonal adjustments, like switching to a gentle cleanser and opting for richer moisturisers, can significantly improve skin health without overwhelming the routine.

Hydration is another cornerstone of winter skincare. Cold winds and low humidity can strip the skin of its natural moisture, leaving it dry and dull. Incorporating hydrating serums and moisturisers immediately after cleansing helps trap water in the skin and prevents moisture loss. Weekly treatments, such as hydrating masks, can provide an additional boost, restoring suppleness and radiance. Using lukewarm water instead of hot showers also preserves natural oils, ensuring the skin remains soft and smooth.

Even during winter, sun protection remains essential. Ultraviolet (UV) rays are present year-round, and exposure can contribute to premature aging, pigmentation, and skin damage. A broad-spectrum sunscreen applied daily keeps the skin shielded while also supporting overall hydration.

Indoor environments can also affect skin health. Heating systems reduce humidity levels, leading to dry and irritated skin. Using a humidifier helps maintain comfortable moisture levels, complementing topical hydration and keeping skin comfortable throughout the day.

Consistency and simplicity are key. Overloading the skin with multiple products can sometimes do more harm than good. A routine that focuses on gentle cleansing, barrier repair, deep hydration, and sun protection adapts well to seasonal changes and promotes long-term skin health. Choosing products with effective, nourishing ingredients ensures the skin remains resilient, radiant, and comfortable even during harsh winter conditions.

Ultimately, the goal is to maintain a balance between protecting the skin from environmental stressors and providing it with the nourishment it needs to thrive. By adopting mindful skincare practices, paying attention to hydration, and protecting against sun damage, winter doesn’t have to be a season of dryness and dullness. With the right approach, healthy and glowing skin is achievable year-round.

Winter Skincare Simplified: Experts Share How To Keep Your Skin Healthy, Hydrated And Radiant | Health and Fitness News

Winter Skincare Simplified: Experts Share How To Keep Your Skin Healthy, Hydrated And Radiant | Health and Fitness News

Last Updated:November 17, 2025, 14:45 IST

Experts share essential winter skincare tips from barrier repair to deep hydration and sun protection.

With barrier-strengthening products, mindful routines, and hydrating formulations, healthy winter skin is well within reach

As temperatures drop and cold winds settle in, winter quickly becomes a challenging season for the skin. Dryness, dullness, irritation, and disruption of the skin barrier are some of the most common concerns. This year, leading skincare experts and brand spokespersons share their insights on how to care for your skin the right way, without overcomplicating your routine.

Shaily Mehrotra, co-founder, Fixderma, says, “The key lies in strengthening the skin barrier rather than layering too many products. As temperatures drop, our skin’s natural barrier becomes more vulnerable to dryness and irritation. Winter skincare isn’t about layering multiple products but about strengthening your skin barrier with the right activities and hydration.”

She recommends looking for barrier-supporting ingredients like ceramides, almond oil, and hyaluronic acid, and emphasizes small seasonal adjustments such as switching to a gentle cleanser, using a richer moisturizer, and applying sunscreen daily. “At Fixderma, we always emphasize consistency over complexity; skincare should adapt to the season, not overwhelm it,” she adds.

Highlighting how winter affects the skin’s internal balance, Dr. Anuradha Sharma, Medical Advisor & Skin Expert, FCL Skincare, notes that abrupt temperature changes, cold air outdoors and indoor heating confuse the skin, often triggering irritation and dullness. “The goal should be to help your skin adjust gently,” says Dr Sharma. She recommends a mild cleanser followed by a hydrating serum and a ceramide or hyaluronic acid–based moisturizer to lock in moisture. Sunscreen, she stresses, remains non-negotiable even in winter: “UV rays don’t take a winter break.” At FCL, she says, the focus is on strengthening skin resilience so it stays nourished and radiant throughout the season.

Deep hydration is also at the core of O3+’s winter recommendations. O3+ Skincare experts warn that skin loses moisture rapidly due to cold winds and low humidity, demanding a routine centred around barrier repair. They advise using nourishing moisturizers immediately after cleansing to trap hydration effectively. Weekly treatments like the Hydrogel Mask provide an instant moisture boost, while gentle cleansing with lukewarm water helps preserve natural oils. For indoor environments, they recommend using a humidifier to maintain comfortable hydration levels. And just like other experts, O3+ stresses the importance of sun protection: their broad-spectrum sunscreens keep skin shielded and hydrated even on cooler days. To restore radiance, O3+ highlights its Hydrate & Glow Facial Kit as an ideal winter pick-me-up.

Bringing an easy-to-follow routine to the table, Snigdha Suman, General Manager, Marketing & Business Development, Avon, says winter can be harsh on the skin, stripping away moisture and glow. She suggests a simple yet effective regimen powered by Avon India’s Anew range. “Start with the Anew Sensitive Cream Cleanser to remove impurities without drying, and follow up with the Anew Ultimate Toner to help your skin absorb hydration better,” she says. To deeply hydrate, she recommends the Anew HA Hydrate & Plump Serum infused with a 3.5% Hyaluronic Acid Complex. For daytime, the Anew Ultimate Firm & Supple Day Cream SPF 20 locks in moisture while offering sun protection. At night, she recommends the Anew Ultimate Firm & Supple Night Cream to restore firmness and radiance, followed by the Anew HA Overnight Mask for an extra hydration boost. “Your winter glow, simplified,” she assures.

Across all experts, one message is clear, winter skincare doesn’t need complexity, it needs consistency, nourishment, and protection. With barrier-strengthening products, mindful routines, and hydrating formulations, healthy winter skin is well within reach.

5 Secrets to Hydrated, Glowing Skin | Skincare Advice

5 Secrets to Hydrated, Glowing Skin | Skincare Advice

Healthy, glowing skin reflects how well it is cared for inside and out. Many people focus only on products, but lasting hydration and radiance come from a mix of smart habits and consistent care. The secret to hydrated, glowing skin lies in protecting, nourishing, and supporting it every day with simple, proven steps.

This article explains how small changes, such as daily sun protection, proper moisture balance, and a nutrient-rich diet, can make a visible difference. It guides you through practical ways to strengthen the skin barrier, improve texture, and maintain a natural glow without complicated routines or harsh treatments.

Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to protect skin from UV damage and prevent dehydration

Daily sunscreen use helps keep skin healthy and hydrated. Broad-spectrum formulas block both UVA and UVB rays, which cause sunburn, uneven tone, and early signs of aging. Without protection, UV exposure breaks down collagen and weakens the skin barrier, leading to dryness and fine lines.

Experts recommend applying sunscreen to all exposed areas, even on cloudy days. Reapplying every two hours keeps protection consistent, especially after sweating or swimming. A lightweight, non-greasy formula works best for daily wear under makeup or moisturizer.

Brands such as Elire K-Skin care focus on science-backed products that support skin health. Pairing sunscreen with a hydrating cream or serum helps lock in moisture and maintain a smooth texture. Consistent use prevents surface dehydration and helps the skin stay balanced throughout the day.

Regular sunscreen use also supports the results of other skincare treatments. It protects active ingredients like retinol or vitamin C from breaking down, allowing them to work more effectively.

Use a hyaluronic acid serum to boost skin hydration and maintain a plump, glowing appearance

Hyaluronic acid holds water in the skin and helps prevent dryness. It acts like a moisture magnet that keeps the surface smooth and soft. As a result, skin often looks fresher and more balanced throughout the day.

A lightweight serum with hyaluronic acid works well under moisturizer. It draws water into the skin’s outer layer and helps maintain a plump texture. For best results, the serum should go on slightly damp skin before applying cream or lotion.

This ingredient supports all skin types, including oily and sensitive skin. It helps reduce the look of fine lines caused by dehydration and supports a healthy glow. In addition, it pairs well with other ingredients such as vitamin C or ceramides for extra hydration support.

Regular use of a hyaluronic acid serum helps the skin stay hydrated, soft, and comfortable. It provides an easy step that fits into both morning and evening routines.

Incorporate gentle exfoliation twice a week to remove dead skin cells and improve radiance

Dead skin cells can build up on the surface and make skin look dull. Gentle exfoliation helps clear this layer so fresh, healthy cells can appear. As a result, skin feels smoother and looks brighter.

Experts often recommend exfoliating about twice a week. This schedule helps maintain balance without causing dryness or irritation. People with sensitive skin may use a mild product with fine particles or low-strength acids.

It is best to exfoliate after cleansing and before moisturizing. This step allows serums and creams to absorb more effectively. Therefore, skin can retain moisture better and appear more even in tone.

Too much exfoliation can strip natural oils and weaken the barrier. A gentle approach keeps skin clear while protecting its natural balance. Over time, regular care supports a soft, hydrated, and radiant look.

Moisturize with ceramide-rich creams to strengthen the skin barrier and lock in moisture

Ceramides occur naturally in the skin and help form a protective layer that reduces water loss. However, their levels drop with age, which can make skin feel dry or tight. A moisturizer that contains ceramides can help replace what the skin loses over time.

These creams support the skin’s natural barrier so it stays firm and smooth. As a result, the outer layer holds moisture better and feels more comfortable. Regular use can help reduce dryness, redness, and rough texture.

Ceramide-rich formulas often include fatty acids and other lipids that work together to keep the skin hydrated. They also help protect against environmental stressors that can weaken the barrier. Therefore, applying a ceramide moisturizer daily can keep the skin balanced and more resistant to irritation.

For best results, it helps to apply the cream after cleansing while the skin is still slightly damp. This step traps moisture and strengthens the barrier for long-lasting hydration.

Drink plenty of water and maintain a balanced diet rich in antioxidants for internal skin health

Healthy skin starts from within. The body needs enough water each day to keep cells hydrated and support natural repair. Dehydration can make the skin look dull or tight, while steady water intake helps it appear smoother and more supple.

A balanced diet also supports skin from the inside. Foods rich in antioxidants, such as berries, leafy greens, and nuts, help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. These nutrients may reduce signs of stress on the skin and support a more even tone.

In addition, vitamins like C and E play a key role in maintaining a healthy barrier. They help the body produce collagen and defend against environmental effects. Therefore, drinking water and eating nutrient-rich foods work together to keep the skin clear and naturally bright.

Healthy, glowing skin depends on steady care and smart daily choices. Simple habits such as drinking enough water, using gentle cleansers, and applying sunscreen help keep moisture and protect the skin barrier.

Consistency matters more than expensive products. A balanced diet, enough sleep, and limited sun exposure all support long-term skin health.

Each small step adds up. By maintaining clean, hydrated skin and avoiding harsh products, anyone can achieve a natural, healthy glow.
