Saffron Remedies For Hydrated, Bright Skin

Saffron Remedies For Hydrated, Bright Skin

Winter often brings dryness, dullness, and flaky skin due to cold winds and low humidity. Saffron, with its natural antioxidants and hydrating properties, helps restore glow, soothe irritation, and lock in moisture. It’s a luxurious remedy to combat winter skin woes while adding radiance. Saffron & Milk Glow Pack: Cold weather can make skin look lifeless. Soak saffron strands in warm milk and apply as a face pack. The lactic acid in milk gently exfoliates while saffron brightens, leaving skin soft and luminous even in harsh winter. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron & Honey Hydration Mask: Winter dryness calls for deep hydration. Mix saffron with honey and apply to the face. Honey acts as a humectant, locking in moisture, while saffron enhances glow, perfect for combating flaky skin. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron & Sandalwood Anti-Acne Pack: Winter can trigger breakouts due to heavy creams and dry air. Blend saffron with sandalwood powder and rose water to calm inflammation, reduce acne, and keep skin clear during the season. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron-Infused Oil: Massage saffron-infused almond or olive oil at night. This nourishes skin deeply, prevents winter-induced roughness, and repairs damage caused by cold winds. It’s a natural alternative to heavy moisturizers. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron & Turmeric Brightening Mask: Winter often dulls complexion. Mix saffron with turmeric and yogurt to reduce pigmentation and restore brightness. Yogurt hydrates while turmeric and saffron revive tired skin. (Image: AI Generated)

Saffron Water Toner: Steep saffron strands in warm water overnight and use as a toner. In winter, this refreshes skin without stripping natural oils, keeping it supple and hydrated. (Image: AI Generated)

Bonus Tips: Use saffron masks 2-3 times a week to maintain glow. Always follow up with a rich moisturizer or oil after saffron treatments. Pair saffron packs with lukewarm water rinses; avoid hot water which worsens dryness. Combine saffron with hydrating ingredients like honey, milk, or almond oil for maximum winter benefits.  (Image: AI Generated)

How Beauty Trends Are Shaping Indian Traveller Choices

How Beauty Trends Are Shaping Indian Traveller Choices

Lifestyle Desk

02 December 2025, 01:11 PM IST

From Paris pharmacies to South Korea’s K‑beauty hotspots, travellers are increasingly choosing destinations based on skincare, wellness, and self-care, making beauty the new driver

The global personal-care and beauty market is no longer confined to shopping aisles and online carts — it is actively shaping travel choices. The rise of “glowcations,” where trips are planned around skincare treatments and wellness experiences, shows how beauty has become a central motivator for modern travellers.

Beauty-driven travel on the rise

In 2026, more than half of Indian travellers report purchasing skincare or beauty products while travelling abroad, and nearly half select destinations for their wellness appeal. Younger travellers, particularly GenZ, are leading this trend, with 38% planning trips to explore beauty stores or undergo treatments while on holiday. Duty-free shopping, visits to cult beauty stores, and local treatments are becoming essential components of travel itineraries.

Beyond spa retreats: personalised experiences

Modern travellers are seeking more than traditional spa breaks. Glowcations focus on tailored skincare routines, climate-adapted hydration treatments, and access to cult brands unavailable locally. South Korea is a popular hub for K‑beauty products, while Paris remains iconic for French pharmacy favourites. Technology is playing a key role, with smart mirrors, AI-assisted product recommendations, and customised wellness kits guiding choices for a personalised beauty experience.

Data-backed insights

  • 57% of Indian travellers have stocked up on skincare abroad.
  • 53% shop duty-free for cosmetics, fragrances, and skincare.
  • 48% visit cult beauty stores while travelling.
  • 45% have tried beauty treatments abroad.
  • 38% of GenZ travellers plan beauty-oriented trips in 2026.

These figures highlight a clear shift in travel motivation: beauty and self-care are no longer optional extras but core considerations in trip planning.

Why travellers are drawn to beauty tourism

Key factors driving this trend include:

  • Desire for personalised experiences tailored to skin type and wellness goals.
  • Access to global beauty culture and products unavailable locally.
  • Social media influence, including travel and beauty content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
  • Growing emphasis on mental wellness and self-care post-pandemic.
  • Affordable global travel options, combining leisure with beauty exploration.

What travellers should consider

While beauty-focused travel offers unique opportunities for indulgence and self-care, experts recommend planning carefully:

  • Research treatments and product authenticity before purchase.
  • Consider climate and water differences that may affect skin.
  • Practice sustainable travel and responsible product use.

The future of beauty-powered travel

The tourism and personal-care industries are becoming closely entwined. Travel itineraries increasingly incorporate skincare routines, spa visits, and wellness experiences. Beauty brands are designing travel-ready products, portable skincare kits, and region-specific treatments. Destinations with strong beauty reputations, like South Korea and Paris, are becoming specialised travel hubs. AI-driven travel platforms are also beginning to recommend destinations based on skincare and wellness preferences.

In 2026, beauty travel is no longer niche — it is mainstream. For travellers, the journey is not only about where they go but how they care for themselves along the way, blending personal wellness, indulgence, and exploration into one holistic experience.

I Flew 13 Hours to Seoul for 9 Skincare Treatments

I Flew 13 Hours to Seoul for 9 Skincare Treatments

  • Clinic provided comprehensive skin analysis, customized treatment plan, and reassurance for melanated skin.
  • Writer underwent 9 advanced procedures, including lasers, injectables, and skin botox for desired results.
  • Writer’s skin improved dramatically, boosting confidence and inspiring future visits to maintain Korean beauty standards.

Source:

When you’re a travel and beauty writer, some destinations call your name louder than others and for me, Seoul has been shouting for years. Korea is the Beauty Capital of the World, and I promised myself that before I turned 40, I would take my skincare journey to the next level. I hopped on a 13-hour flight (in Economy!) to finally make it happen. My destination? Lamiche Dermatology, a clinic known not only for cutting-edge treatments, but also for being Black girl skin friendly a non-negotiable for me.

The Skin Analysis That Humbled Me

The moment I arrived at Lamiche Dermatology, they cleansed my face and performed an in-depth skin analysis. Then the doctor sat me down and walked me through every detail. My main concerns were hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, tightening, and achieving that lifted, glowing (glass skin) look we all want. Listen, I thought my skin was doing pretty well until they showed me my analysis. Let’s just say it was a gentle jump-scare. Tip: If you’re not ready for your skincare routine to be humbled, Seoul might not be for you.

Journey to Perfect 40-Year-Old Skin

The clinic itself was gorgeous. It was clean, modern, and super-efficient. The staff answered every question and made sure I felt safe, heard, and cared for. It was foreigner friendly, so the language barrier is not an issue. Korea takes skincare seriously, and the attention to detail is unmatched. The doctor recommended a custom treatment plan based entirely on my skin type and my goals. I’ll be honest: when I saw the list, I was a little overwhelmed. It included lasers, injectables, extractions, and even mole removal.

I’m a Black woman who previously suffered a thermal burn from a U.S. med spa laser (which left severe hyperpigmentation), I asked repeatedly if each laser was safe for melanated skin. They reassured me every single time.  They numb you thoroughly, explain everything step-by-step, and move with so much care. Beauty may be pain, but this was manageable.

Here’s the full list of treatments I received:

  • Fraxel Dual – Improves skin texture and acne scars by promoting collagen regeneration.

  • Accolade – Targets pigmentation and sunspots for a brighter, more even tone.

  • RevLite – Reduces pigmentation, clears blemishes, and enhances glow.

  • BBL – Improves redness, pigmentation, and overall clarity.

  • ICON Laser – Treats scars, wrinkles, and pores for firmer, smoother skin.

  • CO2 Laser – Removes warts, dark spots, and dead skin while promoting renewal.

  • InMode – Tightens and lifts by stimulating collagen and melting small pockets of fat.

  • V-Olet Injection – Enhances facial contour and firmness by reducing localized fat.
  • Skin Botox – Smooths fine lines, lifts the skin, refines pores, brightens tone, and controls oil for that glass skin look.

Yes. Nine treatments, in one visit. I definitely earned my Seoul skincare badge after that.

The Results Speak for Themselves

Now that it’s been a month, my skin is still flourishing. The texture is smoother, the hyperpigmentation is fading, and the glow? Ridiculous. Someone recently asked me what highlighter I was wearing and I had to giggle, “Oh, it’s just my skin.”

The trip was transformative not just for my face, but for my confidence. I’m now budgeting to go back twice a year because once you experience Korean skincare at this level, you understand why they’re number one.

These needle-free treatments rival your favourite injectables

These needle-free treatments rival your favourite injectables

Perhaps it’s the world’s sudden fascination with regenerative procedures and a swift move away from the traditional tweaks of old, but needle-free treatments have become front and centre of the burgeoning aesthetics world.

These cutting-edge treatments are a far cry from the non-invasive procedures which once did little more than offer a surface-level glow; the latest advancements promise similar, if not superior, results to injectables and provide long-term skin benefits too, from boosting your skin’s renewal processes to supercharging collagen production.

That you can now yield long-lasting and effective results is welcome news for those who have long feared the pain, downtime, and sometimes, simply just the sheer element of a needle, associated with popular treatments such as dermal fillers, polynucleotides and Botox.

Ahead, Dr Christine Hall, an aesthetic doctor and pharmacist, and Dr Ali Ghanem, an aesthetic doctor at The Ghanem Clinic, share the top needle-free treatments taking the industry by storm.

Gianluca Carraro//LAUNCHMETRICS SPOTLIGHT

Ultherapy Prime

“Dermal fillers are falling out of favour and patients are more into treatments that stimulate their own collagen,” shares Dr Hall. Ultherapy Prime is one such treatment: it harnesses microfocused ultrasound energy to boost collagen production, which, in turn, helps to lift and tighten skin and can be used on the face, neck, and décolletage.

“The key thing with regenerative aesthetics is that you want to stimulate as much collagen as possible, and there are different ways of doing this: Ultherapy Prime works by creating tiny burns which signals to your body to go into repair mode and kickstart skin renewal,” she adds. But unlike injectables such as polynucleotides, there’s little pain involved, save for a tingling or warming sensation caused by the ultrasound energy device.

Red light therapy

Dr Hall has also noticed a resurgence in red light therapy due to new technology and advancements improving its efficacy. These treatments will differ, but the concept remains the same, whereby red light is absorbed by the mitochondria in cells, which increases their energy production and encourages cellular repair.

“There are lots of new studies proving its power; there’s also no downtime, it takes 30 minutes, and helps to stimulate collagen and reduce inflammation. As technology has improved, it’s something that really does work for hair growth and skin regeneration,” shares Dr Hall.

Matteo Valle//LAUNCHMETRICS SPOTLIGHT

Thermage

Thermage is another powerful, non-invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency and acts more superficially to stimulate collagen. “Rather than one treatment, the idea is that you’re stimulating collagen through lots of different means,” notes Dr Hall.

Dr Ghanem agrees: to target skin laxity, treatments like Thermage and Sofwave deliver powerful, focused energy to stimulate collagen and tighten deeper tissues; they’re ideal for patients wanting a firmer, more youthful contour without needles or recovery time.”

Halo BBL Laser

“For patients looking to rejuvenate their skin without injectables or surgery, I recommend three key approaches, each addressing a different layer of the skin for truly comprehensive results,” explains Dr Ali Ghanem. He recommends the Halo BBL (broadband light) to address multiple concerns and target the epidermal layer of the skin. The high-intensity light comes with a multitude of skin benefits, from targeting fine lines and wrinkles to minimising pores and resurfacing skin’s texture.

“For skin resurfacing and clarity, the BBL Halo platform remains the gold standard, combining broadband light and fractional laser to refine texture and restore radiance with minimal downtime,” he says.

Indian kitchen remedies to lower uric acid and reduce inflammation

Indian kitchen remedies to lower uric acid and reduce inflammation

Managing high uric acid levels doesn’t always require expensive supplements or medications.

Many herbs and spices commonly found in Indian kitchens offer powerful natural benefits that help reduce inflammation, improve digestion, and support uric acid balance.

Incorporating these simple remedies into your daily routine can make a noticeable difference in joint comfort and overall wellness.

Also Read: Best low-purine foods to control uric acid naturally

1. Turmeric: A Natural Anti-Inflammatory Powerhouse

Turmeric, rich in curcumin, is one of the most effective herbs for reducing uric acid levels. Its anti-inflammatory properties help soothe swelling and pain associated with gout. Adding a pinch of turmeric to warm water, milk, soups, or curries helps improve metabolism and reduce uric acid buildup. Regular consumption, even in small amounts, can support long-term joint health.

2. Ginger: Supports Detox and Relieves Pain

Ginger is known for its ability to boost circulation and promote detoxification. It helps the body flush out excess uric acid while easing joint stiffness. Drinking ginger tea or adding fresh grated ginger to meals can provide daily relief. A warm ginger compress on swollen joints may also help reduce localised discomfort.

3. Tulsi (Holy Basil): Helps Regulate Metabolism

Tulsi leaves are packed with antioxidants and compounds that support metabolic functions. These properties help break down uric acid more efficiently and prevent it from accumulating in the bloodstream. Sipping tulsi tea or chewing a few fresh leaves every morning can help improve overall uric acid management.

4. Cinnamon: Balances Blood Sugar and Uric Acid

Cinnamon is widely known for stabilising blood sugar, but it also supports healthy uric acid levels. Its warming nature boosts digestion and reduces inflammation. A pinch of cinnamon in herbal teas, smoothies, or oatmeal can enhance flavour while naturally supporting metabolic health.

5. Garlic: A Simple Everyday Remedy

Garlic contains sulphur compounds that help eliminate toxins, including excess uric acid. It also reduces inflammation and improves kidney function, aiding the body’s ability to filter uric acid. Consuming raw garlic on an empty stomach or adding it generously to food can contribute to overall relief from uric acid-related symptoms.

6. Methi (Fenugreek Seeds): Supports Digestion and Detoxification

Fenugreek seeds help regulate digestion and promote toxin removal. Soaking methi seeds overnight and consuming them in the morning can help reduce uric acid levels over time. They also support weight management, which is important for controlling uric acid.

7. Coriander: A Gentle Detoxifying Herb

Coriander leaves and seeds have natural diuretic properties that help the body release excess fluids and toxins. Drinking coriander water or adding coriander leaves to daily meals provides a refreshing way to maintain balance.

Simple, Trusted, and Effective

Herbal remedies and everyday spices are powerful allies in managing uric acid. When paired with a balanced diet, proper hydration, and active lifestyle, these natural ingredients can ease discomfort, reduce inflammation, and promote healthy joints—without relying on complicated treatments.

Makeup Expert Namrata Soni Disagrees With 10-Step Skincare Routine, Says ‘You’re Just Adding Sweat’ | Beauty News

Makeup Expert Namrata Soni Disagrees With 10-Step Skincare Routine, Says ‘You’re Just Adding Sweat’ | Beauty News

Last Updated:November 27, 2025, 11:55 IST

Namrata Soni shares why it’s important to start a skincare routine at a certain age and explains why the popular ten-step beauty regimen isn’t practical in India.

Makeup artist Namrata Soni gets candid about skincare and beauty treatments

Celebrity makeup expert Namrata Soni has reignited the conversation around modern beauty standards, emphasising that global skincare trends don’t always align with Indian skin types and climate conditions.

During a discussion with ANI, she reflected on the changing expectations within the beauty industry and touched upon the widespread influence of Botox, fillers and digital filters in shaping today’s ideas of “flawless” skin.

Soni explained that India’s high humidity levels, combined with daily lifestyle factors, make elaborate multi-step routines impractical for many people. Sharing her professional perspective, she said, “We live in a country where the 10-step skincare routine does not work because we have a lot of humidity. So that means after step one itself, you’re perspiring. Imagine you’re putting that on, then you’re sweating, then you’re putting on another. So you’re like literally putting sweat between each layer of your skin. It’s crazy. Just keep it simple. Cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen and eye cream at night. That’s all you need.”

Influence of Filters, Botox and Cosmetic Procedures on Beauty Expectations

Soni further pointed out how social media’s filtered perfection and accessible cosmetic procedures have reshaped what is now considered “normal” or “ideal” skin. According to her, the pressure to always appear camera-ready has increased significantly.

Addressing the impact of these technological and cosmetic enhancements, she stated, “We live in a world of Botox and fillers and surgeries. It’s so easy with lasers and CO2 to have that kind of skin today.”

Why Indians Age Differently: Soni Explains The Role Of Elasticity And Melanin

Soni also highlighted that Indian skin, which naturally contains more melanin and elasticity, often ages more slowly compared to Western skin types. Because of this, she believes that starting a skincare routine too early is unnecessary and can even be counterproductive.

She clarified her stance, noting, “Mid-20s is when you start a skincare routine. I mean, people have started at 16 and 14, which I don’t understand. I don’t understand girls going to Sephora and buying skincare at 14 and 16. But I would say like 23, 24. And it does not have to be a crazy routine. It just could be an amazing moisturiser meant for your skin type and a lip balm and a sunscreen.”

Creating Netra Mantena’s Royal Bridal Look in Udaipur

Most recently, Namrata Soni crafted the breathtaking bridal look of Netra Mantena, daughter of Orlando-based billionaires Padmaja and Rama Raju Mantena. Netra tied the knot with Vamsi Gadiraju, co-founder of Superorder, in a lavish wedding celebration held in Udaipur. Soni crafted a delicate yet regal makeup look that highlighted Netra’s natural beauty while perfectly complementing her striking red lehenga.

Namrata Soni’s Journey: From Industry Challenges To A Celeb Favourite

Renowned for her refined techniques, signature soft-glam looks and dedication to her craft, Namrata Soni has built an impressive career working with some of Bollywood’s biggest names – Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Twinkle Khanna and more.

In another conversation with ANI, she opened up about the initial hurdles she faced while entering a field that was once predominantly male-driven. Despite the challenges, she succeeded with the encouragement of leading stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Karan Johar, who recognised her talent early in her journey.

Over the years, Soni has earned multiple accolades, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. She also secured an IIFA Award for her acclaimed ageing makeup work in Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic film Om Shanti Om.

Body Studio Skincare ‘restores spirits’ with free facials, wellness shots

Body Studio Skincare ‘restores spirits’ with free facials, wellness shots

Michelle Vernon, CEO of Body Studio Skincare, performs a facial treatment on a client during the medical spa’s hurricane relief effort initiative earlier this week.

Citing its desire to restore spirits following Hurricane Melissa, Body Studio Skincare this week gave back to Jamaicans affected by the storm by providing free facial treatments and wellness shots valued hundreds of thousands of dollars.

At its medical spa in St Andrew, the company performed over 50 free facials, each valued from J$10,450 to J$13,000, totaling more than J$550,000 in facial treatments.

It also administered over 30 free wellness shots, including glutathione shots, NAD shots, and B12 shots.

The initiative saw the spa welcoming long-time clients, new faces, and even visitors who traveled all the way from hurricane-ravaged St Elizabeth to be a part of the special day of healing.

Body Studio Skincare administered over 30 free wellness shots during its hurricane relief initiative.

“Our community was hurting, and we knew we had a responsibility to show up,” Michelle Vernon, CEO of Body Studio Skincare, said.

“Hurricane Melissa devastated the western region, leaving many without light, water, stability, and even hope,” she continued.” At Body Studio Skincare, we have always believed that wellness goes far beyond beauty; it is about dignity, confidence, and compassion.”

She said the company was grateful for the love, support and community spirit shown during the relief effort, and also expressed gratitude to her dedicated staff whose hard work and commitment made the event possible.

Michelle Vernon (second right), CEO of Body Studio Skincare , with members of her staff. Solar fans, lanterns and power banks were provided to the staff along with care packages that were given days after the hurricane.

“Giving back during this time was not optional — it was necessary. Our staff, clients, and fellow Jamaicans have supported us for over 10 years, and this initiative was our way of serving them in return,” Vernon said. “Providing free facials and wellness shots may seem small, but for many people it offered a moment of relief, a chance to breathe, and a reminder that they are cared for.

“We wanted to restore more than skin — we wanted to help restore spirits. That’s the heart of Body Studio, and that’s why this initiative was so important to us,” she said.
