Galderma expands Cetaphil’s Nourishing Line with new body care innovations, delivering clinically proven glow through advanced barrier science

  • Developed specifically for sensitive skin, the Nourishing & Hydrating Lotion and Cream combine hyaluronic acid and skin-essential lipids to strengthen the skin barrier while delivering clinically proven glow.

  • Builds on the successful launch of the Cetaphil Nourishing Oil-to-Foam facial Cleanser, extending the Nourishing Line to body care.

  • Supported by clinical and consumer testing of the Nourishing & Hydrating Lotion, 92% of users reported their skin felt softer, smoother, and more radiant after just one use.

MIAMI, Aug. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Galderma today announced that Cetaphil, the dermatologist-recommended brand trusted by millions with sensitive skin, is expanding its science-backed Nourishing line with the launch of the Nourishing & Hydrating Lotion and Nourishing & Hydrating Cream. Developed specifically for sensitive skin, these new body care innovations are powered by advanced hydration and barrier science to replenish essential skin lipids, help support and restore the skin barrier, and deliver proven glow as a visible sign of healthier-looking skin.

Sensitive skin is more prone to lipid deficiency, which can weaken the skin barrier and lead to moisture loss, dryness, roughness, and increased susceptibility to irritation. Aging and everyday environmental stressors can further deplete these essential lipids, making replenishment critical to maintaining healthy, resilient skin. Consumers are increasingly seeking healthy, glowing skin across face and body, and Cetaphil is meeting that need through clinically developed barrier science that nourishes the skin beyond the surface.

The new Nourishing & Hydrating Lotion and Cream represent the next evolution of Cetaphil’s Nourishing line, bringing the same technology-driven approach to body care formulations. Backed by clinical and consumer testing, the Nourishing & Hydrating Lotion delivers visible results from the very first use.

“The success of our Nourishing Oil-to-Foam facial Cleanser reinforced the consumer demand for body care rooted in skin barrier science. As we developed the next evolution of the Cetaphil’s Nourishing line, we focused on addressing one of the underlying contributors to dry, sensitive skin—surface lipid depletion. By combining ingredients like hyaluronic acid, lipids, flaxseed oil, and vitamin E in targeted formulations, we created products that not only provide long-lasting hydration, but also help replenish essential skin lipids, strengthen the skin barrier and support healthier-looking skin.”

JP YORK, PHD DIRECTOR, U.S. MEDICAL AFFAIRS, DERMATOLOGICAL SKINCARE, GALDERMA

Rather than simply moisturizing the skin’s surface, the Nourishing line delivers targeted nourishment through advanced ingredient technology tailored to different hydration needs. In consumer assessment results, 79% agreed their skin looked more glowy after just one use. Specifically, for the cream, 98% agreed their skin felt and looked less dry and more hydrated with consistent use*.

“Our goal was to formulate body moisturizers that go beyond surface-level hydration. For people with sensitive skin, the ability to nourish while maintaining the skin barrier is critical, making these formulas with carefully selected ingredients is an important advancement over traditional body moisturizers.”

DR. AARON FARBERG DERMATOLOGIST AND MOHS SURGEON, BAYLOR SCOTT & WHITE HEALTH (U.S.)

A new approach to nourishing body care for sensitive skin Cetaphil’s Nourishing & Hydrating Lotion and Nourishing & Hydrating Cream were developed to deliver targeted nourishment for different hydration needs while supporting the skin barrier with science-backed ingredients:

  • Nourishing & Hydrating Lotion instantly replenishes surface skin lipids for clinically proven glow, healthier-looking skin while providing up to 48-hours of hydration. Powered by Hyaluronic Acid, Lipids, and Flaxseed Oil, the lightweight, oil-infused formula helps retain moisture, soothe skin, and support the skin barrier for lasting hydration and visible radiance.

  • Nourishing & Hydrating Cream provides rich, long-lasting nourishment for normal to very dry skin with 72-hour hydration and proven glow. Formulated with Lipids and Vitamin E, the fast-absorbing cream deeply replenishes moisture while helping support and restore the skin barrier, leaving skin healthier-looking, smoother, and deeply hydrated. Both the lotion and the cream are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, and developed specifically for sensitive skin.

The Cetaphil Nourishing & Hydrating Lotion and Cetaphil Nourishing & Hydrating Cream are available now at major retailers nationwide and online at Cetaphil.com.

Stop Neglecting the Rest of You! These New Body Care Essentials Are Here To Cleanse, Treat and Hydrate

8 New Body Care Essentials To Cleanse, Treat and Hydrate

From Elemis’ recent foray into bath and body to Fenty Skin’s latest scent capsule, here are the new body care essentials you’ll reach for time and time again.

Skincare this, hair care that—but how on top of your body care are you? When you’re bogged down with 10 steps in your skincare routine, it’s easy to forget to slather on body lotion. And sure, if you’re in the shower doing your hair wash routine, sometimes it’s just easier to do a quick once-over as opposed to scrubbing down every inch of your legs, arms and back. Unfortunately, all of that spells out a recipe for bacne, itchiness, and ashy skin, none of which you really want to experience yourself (we presume).

So, instead of treating your body care routine as a chore, reframe it as a self-care ritual you look forward to every day. Whether that’s incorporating stunning scents and lovely textures, or multi-tasking formulations into your everyday routine, the point is to incentivise yourself to invest more in your body. That’s why we’ve put together our latest beauty edit—a collection of the best body care products to launch in 2026, from La Prairie’s luxurious cashmere body cream to The Ordinary’s convenient salicylic acid body serum. Nurturing the Skin and Body with Sigi's Culture-driven Sustainable Skincare

Nurturing the Skin and Body with Sigi’s Culture-driven Sustainable Skincare

Amidst the surge of modern skincare products boasting scientific claims, consumers are returning to treatments rooted in natural ingredients and tradition for skin health and physical balance. The global organic skincare market has reached approximately USD 47.71 billion, with projected growth of 5 to 9% through 2030, driven by consumer preference for natural ingredients free from synthetic chemicals. In Southeast Asia, the trend is more pronounced, with about 50 percent of consumers preferring natural or organic products and willingness to pay a premium for locally sourced and eco-friendly formulations..

In Thailand, the skincare industry in 2025 has reached approximately USD 3.18 billion and is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of around 5.34% to reach USD 5.04 billion by 2034. This expansion is fueled by the country’s rich biodiversity, spa tourism, and rising consumer demand for clean-label, eco-friendly products. Boutique enterprises and SMEs are embedding traditional Thai botanicals such as turmeric, jasmine, lemongrass, and rice bran oil into modern formulations, combining eco-friendly packaging with herbal wellness practices. These initiatives strengthen local wellness enterprises and  position Thailand as a regional hub for spa-driven organic skincare innovation.

Thailand’s women-led enterprises and boutique brands are expanding organic skincare production. Homegrown companies such as Panpuri, Siam Botanicals, and THANN exemplify this trend, creating plant-based, ritual-inspired formulations tailored to domestic and international consumers, while emphasizing eco-friendly packaging and cruelty-free practices. Together, these efforts demonstrate Thailand’s leadership in community-driven, sustainable skincare innovation, ensuring resilience in the wellness economy while preserving cultural heritage.

In Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, this trend finds its form in a deeply personal way, rooted in family history. From a humble village, Nelam Ayu Kusuma established Nelamayu Tradisional — a venture that revitalizes the self-care practices of Kaili women while creating economic opportunities based on culture and local ingredients.

From Kaili Women’s Tradition to Modern Skincare

The inspiration for Nelamayu Tradisional stems from a Kaili ritual known as nombungu. In this tradition, brides-to-be undergo body and face treatments using natural ingredients, notably badabida, a type of scrub or mask made from black sticky rice used to smooth and brighten the skin while maintaining physical health leading up to a wedding.

“In the past, badabida was used by brides; their faces were covered with a scrub made from black sticky rice. That is an old tradition of Kaili women,” said Nelam. Originally a simple powder, Nelam modernized badabida into a body scrub to make it more accessible for general use.

Alongside this, she produces bada kumba, a traditional cooling powder used for babies and children. Its origins trace to Nelam’s grandmother, a village herbalist who crafted cooling powders from natural materials — rice, turmeric, ginger, and local leaves — to care for infants and treat fevers and skin issues during a time when medicine was hard to access. These practices remained alive within the family, inherited across generations.

For Nelam, traditional skincare is not just about aesthetics — her personal experience solidified that belief. Before starting her business, she developed a lump in her breast. Her grandmother suggested using badabida made from black sticky rice. “I was advised to rub the area with badabida regularly. I used it for about two months before I got married, and thankfully, the lump disappeared,” Nelam shared.

This experience led her to study the benefits of her ingredients more deeply. Black sticky rice is known to help improve blood circulation, while turmeric and Javanese ginger possess anti-inflammatory properties. She became convinced that these products are for maintaining the overall health of the skin and body.

Nelam began selling her products in 2018, initially to brides. Gradually, testimonials arrived from users reporting improvements in dry or peeling skin and even relief from irregular menstrual cycles after regular use of badabida on the abdominal area. While these products have not yet undergone comprehensive laboratory trials, the benefits felt by users became the foundation for the business’s growth.

Sustainable Local Supply Chains While Meeting Modern Standards

As the business grew, new challenges emerged — specifically how to maintain traditional authenticity while meeting modern safety and regulatory standards. Since all raw materials consist of spices and natural foods without synthetic chemicals, Nelam pursued hygiene certificates for household supplies rather than manufactured cosmetics.

The supply chain involves local farmers as well. Nelam collaborates with black sticky rice farmers in the West Dolo region of Sigi, absorbing up to 25 kilograms of rice per purchase — providing a consistent buyer for a harvest that has seen declining interest due to market uncertainty. Nelamayu Tradisional further minimizes production waste through a circular model: residual ash from the roasting process is repurposed as household scouring powder, and rice bran from milling is returned to farmers as animal

A turning point occurred when Nelamayu Tradisional joined the incubation program in 2023 held by  Gampiri Interaksi. Through six months of intensive mentoring, the business received comprehensive support ranging from institutional strengthening and licensing to innovative product development and marketing strategies. “Our mentoring focuses on nature-based downstreaming. We want to ensure products like Nelamayu Tradisional can grow economically without sacrificing cultural and environmental values,” said Nedya Sinintha Maulaning, a representative of Gampiri Interaksi.

The support also expanded market access, with Gampiri connecting Nelamayu Tradisional to 20 potential partners during Business and Partnership Matching events at the 2023 Festival Lestari.

Preserving Traditions While Increasing Restorative Economy Impact

Currently, Nelamayu Tradisional products are marketed online through various digital platforms and offline through resellers and local partners. The distribution network spans Sigi, Palu, Parigi, Poso, and Morowali, and the products are beginning to enter homestays and hotels as amenities, including trials in hotel chains like Aston and several local inns.

Nelam felt the impact directly. “Before the incubation, my monthly income was around IDR 1 million to 2 million. After the mentoring and product development, it can now exceed IDR 5 million per month,” she noted. Innovations like coffee masks have further expanded her market reach.

According to Nedya, this is a tangible form of restorative economy. “When the environment is protected, natural resources are used wisely, and local communities are directly involved, economic recovery happens naturally. Income rises, culture stays alive, and nature is not exploited,” she explained.

Nelam holds a long-term vision aligned with these principles. She hopes Nelamayu Tradisional can be recognized nationally and internationally as a signature natural beauty brand from Central Sulawesi. “I want this product to be known not just for the results on the skin, but for its story about women, tradition, health, and a connected environment,” Nelam said.

From a simple production kitchen in Sigi, the self-care traditions of Kaili women prove that when the environment is restored and local knowledge is valued, community prosperity can grow sustainably.

Foods That Help Your Body Handle Microplastics (What We Know So Far)

Foods That Help Your Body Handle Microplastics (What We Know So Far)

Close up side shot of microplastics lay on people hand.Concept of water pollution and global warming. Climate change idea.

Some headlines are surprising but true – like the time a German street was covered in chocolate after a factory leak. Others are the kind we really want to be true, or at least as simple as they sound.

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of headlines about foods that supposedly remove microplastics from the body, so I clicked through and tracked down the research behind them.

Turns out, foods like tamarind and okra do bind and remove microplastics . . . from water.

And if that were the whole story, this would be a very short article.

But once I started digging, I found something more interesting: no food has yet been shown to remove microplastics from human tissues directly, but there are foods that may help your body limit absorption, support elimination, and deal with some of the damage these particles can cause.

How Microplastics End Up Inside Us

Microplastics – tiny pieces of plastic less than 5 millimeters long – are everywhere. They’ve been found in deep ocean trenches, on the summit of Mount Everest, and in the human body, too.

In everyday life, they enter our bodies through several common routes: we breathe them in through household dust, swallow them in food and drinking water, and encounter them daily through synthetic fabrics, plastic packaging, and other plastic-containing products. Research has detected microplastics in human blood, lungs, liver, kidneys, and reproductive organs, as well as other areas like the brain, heart, and placenta. (1)(2)(3)(4)

Microplastic exposure is linked to chronic inflammation, heart disease, fertility problems, and other health issues. (5)(6)

And the concern isn’t just the plastic itself; it’s what the plastic is carrying. These particles can act like tiny sponges for heavy metals and chemicals like BPA or phthalates, which are known endocrine disruptors. In short: they can mess with your hormones and trigger inflammation.

That’s why microplastics have become more than just an environmental issue – they’re increasingly being discussed as a growing public health concern.

I’ve shared several practical ways to reduce your exposure to microplastics, but that still leaves an obvious question:

What about the microplastics we’ve already been exposed to?

I wish I could give you a smoothie recipe or supplement recommendation that would handle everything all at once.

Based on what we know right now, that’s not how it works. But there is some encouraging news.

Researchers are beginning to identify specific compounds that may help the body clear ingested microplastics more effectively. In one recent study, scientists found two strains that stood out for their ability to increase microplastic excretion, reduce the amount remaining in the gut, and lower inflammation in mice. (7)

Beyond that, research also suggests that certain foods may support the systems your body already uses to limit absorption, bind particles in the gut, and move them out efficiently.

Foods That Help Your Body Handle Microplastics

While we can’t fully eliminate exposure, we can support how the body handles it. And we don’t do that by starting a strict “microplastic detox” protocol that ignores everything else the body needs – we do it by supporting the pathways and systems involved in handling them.

When it comes to diet specifically, that means focusing on foods that:

  • Support the gut barrier (our first line of defense) and microbial balance
  • Encourage a healthy gut transit time (getting things moving through your digestive tract so plastic doesn’t sit around)
  • Reduce oxidative stress (the cellular inflammation plastic causes)

Fermented Foods (Gut Barrier + Emerging Binding Research)

This is where probiotic-rich foods stop being “generally healthy” and start getting weirdly specific.

For years, probiotics have mostly been talked about in broad terms: good for the gut, good for digestion, good for immune health.

But when it comes to microplastics, researchers are zooming way in. They’re not asking whether yogurt or kimchi is “good for you” in a general sense. They’re asking whether certain individual strains of bacteria often associated with those foods can bind to microplastics, help move them out through the digestive tract, and reduce some of the inflammation they leave behind.

And so far, the answer appears to be: some of them might. A 2025 study screened 784 bacterial strains and found that two stood out – Lacticaseibacillus paracasei DT66 and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum DT88. In mice, those strains increased fecal microplastic excretion by 34%, reduced the amount left behind in the gut by 67%, and helped lower intestinal inflammation. (7)

Now, at first glance, it would be easy to assume that if one form of Lacticaseibacillus paracasei helps with microplastics, they all probably do. But even when bacteria come from the same general families, that doesn’t mean they all do the same work. A screwdriver and a wrench can sit in the same toolbox and still solve completely different problems.

However, the more researchers look for probiotics that show promise for microplastic removal, the more they seem to find. A newer 2026 study identified a kimchi-derived strain, Leuconostoc mesenteroides CBA3656, that showed strong nanoplastic-binding ability under simulated intestinal conditions and increased fecal nanoplastic excretion by more than twofold in mice. (8)

Now for the important caveat: that does not mean all kimchi, yogurt, kefir, or sauerkraut will automatically do the same thing.

Even if a particular strain is commonly associated with a certain fermented food, there can be a lot of variation from one culture or product to another, especially in wild ferments. Unless a strain is intentionally added or a food is tested, there’s no way to know for sure that it’s there.

That said, I still think fermented foods matter here.

Even when they’re not delivering one of these lab-tested strains, they can support our microbiome and help strengthen the gut barrier, which is one of the body’s first lines of defense.

And if future research continues in this direction, we may eventually see certain strains intentionally cultivated in foods or used in more targeted probiotic supplements.

Looking for a recipe to try this week? I recommend spicy kimchi or garlicky fermented radishes.

Fiber-Rich Foods (Binding + Elimination)

One way to think about fiber is as a bouncer. It helps escort some of the things your body would rather not keep around toward the exit.

That matters here because tiny plastic particles – and the compounds attached to them – are generally better off moving through the digestive tract than lingering in it. This is one reason gut transit time matters: when things move too slowly, the body has a higher chance of reabsorbing some of what it was trying to eliminate.

Fiber also helps on more than one level. Some forms of dietary fiber bind substances in the gut and carry them out through stool, which is one of the body’s main elimination routes. Fiber also supports regularity, nourishes beneficial gut microbes, and helps maintain the intestinal barrier – all of which are relevant here, since microplastic exposure has been linked to gut dysbiosis, increased intestinal permeability, and inflammation. (9)

So while we don’t have studies showing that fiber detoxes microplastics specifically, it does support several of the systems involved in moving unwanted material along and protecting the gut while that happens.

This is one reason foods like beans, lentils, oats, chia seeds, flaxseeds, chickpeas, and vegetables can be so helpful. They support regularity, healthy transit, and the everyday work of moving waste along efficiently.

Antioxidant-Rich Foods (Inflammation Support)

This is where the job shifts from getting things out to helping your body respond with more resilience.

Microplastics aren’t just inert little particles. Research suggests they can stir up oxidative stress and inflammation in a few different ways: by triggering immune responses, disrupting normal cellular energy production, carrying chemical hitchhikers like BPA and heavy metals, and putting pressure on the body’s own antioxidant defenses. (10)

That’s one reason antioxidant-rich foods matter here. In other words, this category is less about escorting unwanted stuff to the exit and more about helping the body deal with the wear and tear it may leave behind. (10)

This is where berries, green tea, herbs, spices, and colorful produce really shine. They don’t appear to remove microplastics directly, but they may help buffer some of the downstream stress associated with exposure. Think of them as part of the cleanup crew: not the ones hauling out the trash bags, but the ones repairing scuffed floors and patching drywall afterward.

Blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries are rich in anthocyanins, while green tea is known for polyphenols like EGCG.

Cruciferous vegetables deserve special mention here, because they’re doing more than one job. Vegetables like broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage contain compounds such as sulforaphane, which has been widely studied for its ability to support antioxidant defenses and reduce oxidative stress and inflammation through pathways such as Nrf2 activation. (11)

Garlic and onions deserve a mention here too. Their organosulfur compounds have also been studied for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. (12)

Bottom line: antioxidant-rich foods are less about detoxing microplastics and more about supporting cellular resilience while the body deals with an exposure we can reduce, but not avoid completely.

A Practical Place to Start

If you were hoping for a simple list of foods that “remove microplastics,” I get it. I was hoping for that too.

As research continues, maybe we’ll discover more probiotic strains – and possibly even some whole foods – that support microplastic detox more directly. But for now, my takeaway is this: the foundational choices many of us are already trying to make – prioritizing fermented foods, dietary fiber, and antioxidant-rich foods – are likely to be some of the most practical ways to help the body limit absorption, support elimination, and stay more resilient.

In other words, the habits that take effort are often doing more good than we can see.

It also means paying attention to the front end when we can – filtering tap water, using reusable glass or stainless steel instead of a plastic water bottle, switching to glass or stainless steel food containers, filtering indoor air, and reducing exposure from common sources of microplastics where it feels realistic to do so. (You can find more ideas here.)

I’m still working through that process too. Right now I’m researching PFAS-free toilet paper and non-toxic bathing suits because those are two swaps I still haven’t fully made. I’ve tried “better” brands before, but I hadn’t taken the time to really dig into the details until now. It’s a lot. I share what I learn here in the hope that it makes the process a little easier for you too.

And with that in mind, I’m always open to article ideas and research suggestions. If there’s a topic you’d like me to look into next, feel free to leave a comment below

How a Lightweight Body Lotion Elevates Daily Skincare

How a Lightweight Body Lotion Elevates Daily Skincare

Still treating body care like an afterthought? See how a lightweight body lotion elevates daily skincare and keeps skin smoother.

How a Lightweight Body Lotion Elevates Daily Skincare

It’s easy to focus on your face and forget the rest of your skin, but your body skin needs daily support, too. Moisturising isn’t only about softness or glow. Your skin acts as a protective barrier, and when it’s dry, that barrier doesn’t work as well as it should. That’s when you start noticing tightness, rough patches, and skin that feels uncomfortable, no matter what season it is.

This becomes even more important during colder months, in dry climates, or in changing climatic conditions that pull moisture from the skin. If you deal with eczema or psoriasis, dryness can feel harder to manage because your barrier is already under stress. A lightweight body lotion helps restore hydration without adding heaviness, which makes daily application more comfortable. When moisturising doesn’t feel like a chore, it’s easier to stay consistent, and that’s where the real difference shows up. [1]

A Lightweight Body Lotion You Like Using Makes You More Consistent

Most people don’t skip body lotion because they don’t care. They skip it because the product feels inconvenient. If a lotion takes too long to absorb, feels greasy, or leaves residue on clothes, it quickly becomes something you avoid, especially during busy mornings. Over time, moisturising turns into an occasional fix instead of a daily habit.

That matters because some people are naturally more prone to dry skin. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD), dryness is more common after 40, in people with brown, black, or fair skin, and in jobs where hands are constantly in water, like nursing or hairstyling. It can also be worse in cold climates or for people who smoke. When you’re already at higher risk, using a fast-absorbing, lightweight body lotion makes daily hydration easier to maintain. [2]

That’s where a lightweight body lotion fits naturally into daily skincare, especially if you keep it on your bathroom shelf where it’s easy to reach.  It spreads easily, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave a sticky or oily film behind. Many still include nourishing ingredients like almond oil or vitamin E, offering comfort and softness without the heavy feel. When your lotion feels barely there, consistency comes naturally.

Daily Hydration Improves Texture and Skin Comfort

Dry skin doesn’t always look dry at first. Sometimes it shows up as uneven texture or rough patches on the arms, legs, and chest. This often happens when the skin barrier is weakened and moisture escapes faster than it can be replenished. Heavy creams can help, but some people avoid them because they feel occlusive or uncomfortable during the day.

A lightweight hydrating body lotion supports the barrier while allowing the skin to breathe. With daily use, skin starts to feel smoother and more comfortable, especially after showering when moisture loss is highest. Lightweight textures also reduce the risk of clogged pores or irritation, which matters if your skin tends to itch or react when it’s dry.

For areas prone to friction, like inner thighs, pairing a fast-absorbing lotion with an anti-chafing ointment can help prevent discomfort without layering thick products that feel heavy on the skin.

Ingredients Decide Whether a Lightweight Lotion Actually Works

Some lotions feel silky at first but fade quickly. That usually means they offer surface softness without delivering lasting hydration. A well-formulated lightweight body lotion should absorb fast while still supporting the skin barrier underneath. That balance comes down to the ingredients, not just texture.

Humectants like glycerin and hyaluronic acid draw moisture into the skin, while ceramides and fatty acids help lock it in. These ingredients allow lotions to remain light while still being effective. For sensitive skin, panthenol and niacinamide can help calm irritation, reduce redness, and brighten and revive dull-looking skin over time.

You’ll also see richer ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter, or essential oils in some formulas. While these can feel luxurious, they aren’t always ideal for reactive or easily irritated skin, especially in leave-on products used daily. Lightweight formulations tend to be better tolerated over time.

Lightweight Lotion Supports Aging Skin Without Feeling Heavy

Crepey texture, rough knees, and dull arms often improve when skin stays consistently hydrated. Lightweight lotions are especially useful here because they encourage regular use without the heavy feel that some people associate with anti-aging body care.

Hydrated skin tends to look smoother and more elastic, which can soften the appearance of stretch marks and uneven texture. This helps explain why anti-aging skincare continues to grow. The global market was valued at around USD$ 47 billion (GBP£ 35 billion) in 2023 and is projected to reach nearly USD$ 80 billion (GBP£ 59 billion) by the start of the next decade. [3]

Much of that growth reflects a shift toward daily, low-effort skincare that delivers visible results. Choosing a lightweight texture that suits your skin and climate makes it easier to adjust through different seasons without skipping hydration altogether.

Final Thoughts

A lightweight body lotion can make daily skincare feel simple instead of time-consuming. When a product absorbs quickly, feels non-greasy, and doesn’t irritate the skin, it becomes something you use without thinking twice. Over time, that consistency leads to skin that feels softer, smoother, and more comfortable every day. Your body skin deserves the same thoughtful care as your face, and a lightweight lotion makes that easy to maintain.

Which body lotion is best for dry skin? 8 top-rated hydrating options on Amazon to keep your skin soft and smooth

Which body lotion is best for dry skin? 8 top-rated hydrating options on Amazon to keep your skin soft and smooth

Body lotion becomes especially important as winter sets in and skin starts feeling tight, itchy, or flaky. Cold air outside and constant indoor heating reduce humidity, which slowly strips away the skin’s natural lipid barrier. This barrier is responsible for holding moisture and protecting skin from external irritants. Once it weakens, water loss increases, leading to cracks, rough skin and sensitivity.

Seasonal changes call for a shift in skincare priorities. Lightweight summer formulas may no longer provide enough support, making stronger moisture protection necessary. Body lotions are water-based formulations made with a blend of water, oils, and emulsifiers. Their lighter texture allows for quick absorption without feeling greasy, making them suitable for daily use across various skin types, including oily or acne-prone skin, according to dermatologist Dr Kisalay Saurav, as told to HealthShots. When chosen carefully and used consistently, body lotion helps restore comfort, support barrier repair, and reduce winter-related skin discomfort.

Benefits of using body lotion for dry skin:

Using a body lotion does more than add surface moisture. It helps maintain the skin’s moisture balance, preventing dryness, flakiness, and irritation by locking in hydration and strengthening the skin’s protective layer. Aesthetic Physician Dr Akanksha Singh Cornuit tells HealthShots that body lotions contain emollients and occlusive agents that create a barrier on the skin, preventing moisture loss and protecting against environmental stressors such as wind and pollution. Daily use can keep skin smooth, soft, and supple while nourishing it with ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants. For those with sensitive skin or conditions such as eczema, they can offer a calming, soothing effect and enhance overall skin health over time.

Beyond hydration, body lotion addresses specific skin concerns, including uneven texture and loss of firmness. Its numerous benefits make it an essential component of a daily skincare routine.

Body Studio Skincare ‘restores spirits’ with free facials, wellness shots

Body Studio Skincare ‘restores spirits’ with free facials, wellness shots

Michelle Vernon, CEO of Body Studio Skincare, performs a facial treatment on a client during the medical spa’s hurricane relief effort initiative earlier this week.

Citing its desire to restore spirits following Hurricane Melissa, Body Studio Skincare this week gave back to Jamaicans affected by the storm by providing free facial treatments and wellness shots valued hundreds of thousands of dollars.

At its medical spa in St Andrew, the company performed over 50 free facials, each valued from J$10,450 to J$13,000, totaling more than J$550,000 in facial treatments.

It also administered over 30 free wellness shots, including glutathione shots, NAD shots, and B12 shots.

The initiative saw the spa welcoming long-time clients, new faces, and even visitors who traveled all the way from hurricane-ravaged St Elizabeth to be a part of the special day of healing.

Body Studio Skincare administered over 30 free wellness shots during its hurricane relief initiative.

“Our community was hurting, and we knew we had a responsibility to show up,” Michelle Vernon, CEO of Body Studio Skincare, said.

“Hurricane Melissa devastated the western region, leaving many without light, water, stability, and even hope,” she continued.” At Body Studio Skincare, we have always believed that wellness goes far beyond beauty; it is about dignity, confidence, and compassion.”

She said the company was grateful for the love, support and community spirit shown during the relief effort, and also expressed gratitude to her dedicated staff whose hard work and commitment made the event possible.

“Giving back during this time was not optional — it was necessary. Our staff, clients, and fellow Jamaicans have supported us for over 10 years, and this initiative was our way of serving them in return,” Vernon said. “Providing free facials and wellness shots may seem small, but for many people it offered a moment of relief, a chance to breathe, and a reminder that they are cared for.

“We wanted to restore more than skin — we wanted to help restore spirits. That’s the heart of Body Studio, and that’s why this initiative was so important to us,” she said.
