The Biggest Wellness Trends of 2026

The Biggest Wellness Trends of 2026

Wellness is on everyone’s mind. The industry, which McKinsey & Company reports is currently worth $2 trillion, is continuing to dominate our collective interest. But what does wellness look like in 2026?

As we start to look ahead to next year, the state of wellness is all about growth and expansion. You can expect to find the following in the wellness space: Advancements in longevity (we mean legitimate, science-based ones over viral TikTok moments) and how we approach GLP-1s, traveling with the sole purpose of working out our bodies and/or minds, and adding nutrients to more interesting and fun drink formats.

Below are the six wellness trends experts predict will be huge for 2026. Scroll through to see which ones should be on your radar.

Private Members Club: Wellness Edition

Private clubs have taken over as our proverbial third space. For 2026, these clubs are expanding more than ever into wellness spaces. Jonathan Leary, CEO and founder of Remedy Place, tells Vogue he sees private wellness members clubs becoming the number one destination for milestone celebrations (think birthdays, bachelorette parties, etc.) and personalized wellness programs that focus on more proactive measures of self-care.

But most importantly, Leary says what will really drive people to wellness members clubs is their hunger for a tranquil space away from all the digital noise. “They are the remedy to so many of the challenges we’re facing in the modern world,” he says. “People don’t feel good, and people are lonely. The rise of AI and digital connection is only increasing the need for real, in-person experiences.”

“We are all craving something real,” agrees Alex Feldman, cofounder of wellness members club Saint. “The world has become so digitized and screen-obsessed that the most radical thing now is to actually feel something—to put your feet on real stone or to sit in a cedar-clad room with your phone completely out of reach.”

Saint, a private sauna and ice bath studio opening later this year in New York City, plans to lean more into personalized experiences for clients to give a more luxe private experience. “It is not about socializing and stereotypical wellness practices,” adds Amanda Hensen, cofounder of Saint, “but rather an intentional separation from the chaos of city life and an opportunity to reconnect to our inner stillness.”

The Fitness Travel Boom

From the viral UCPA tennis adult summer camp in Chamonix to the ultimate luxe surf retreat with Surf Synergy Costa Rica, taking a vacation to reset will take on a whole new meaning in 2026 with the rise of fitness travel. According to a recent 2025 wellness report done by McKinsey & Company, the demand for in-person services such as boutique fitness classes has gone up in the travel space. The report states that 60% of consumers who traveled for health and wellness treatments in 2024 will continue to do so in future travels, and 30% of those who spent money on such activities would gladly spend more the next year.

7 Biggest K-Beauty Trends of 2025, According to Experts

Lee’s a fan of it too, adding that milky toners were a common addition for an adjacent TikTok trend that gained traction this year. “Skin flooding is a hydration stacking technique where you apply multiple layers of hydrating products onto damp skin to ‘flood’ it with moisture before sealing it in [with a cream or gel moisturizer].” Another viral option comes from TirTir, which adds niacinamide to its formula for added brightening.

Flushed Blush

Blush was a major beauty trend everywhere, including Seoul’s It girls—who, of course, put their own spin on it. In Korea, makeup leans toward a soft-matte, diffused look, and blush is no different. What sets it apart is the placement when applied and unique textures—think bouncy, mousse-like formulas and roller-ball blushes.

“Blush had a real moment in 2025, with lots of cool girls in Korea wearing blush high up on their cheeks, right below their eyes,” says Lee. “The result was a fresh, youthful look. We saw lots of great new textures and formats for blush, whether it was bouncy Pudding Pots from FWEE, Dewy Roll Cheeks from Rom & amp;.”

PDRN and Vegan Alternatives

“PDRN has been a major trending ingredient in 2025. PDRN (also known as salmon DNA) has been incorporated into serums, mists, creams, masks—and it all happened at record speed,” explains Lee, noting that brands like Reju-all were completely sold out at many pharmacies in Seoul when she visited over the summer. She suspected the ingredient would gain widespread attention given the buzz it was already generating on social media—even Kim Kardashian revealed that she’d tried a professional PDRN treatment. “Today, we see PDRN in every category, from serums and mists to creams and even sunscreens.” One PDRN product in particular that took over TikTok was Medicube’s bright pink serum.

And in keeping with that rapid pace of innovation, PDRN has since expanded into vegan alternatives. “PDRN is no longer limited to salmon-derived sources, thanks to advances in biotechnology that are unlocking non-animal ways to deliver the same regenerative benefits,” says Chung Park. Case in point: both she and Lee count Mixsoon’s plant-derived, rice-based PDRN among their favorites.

Blurred Lips

“Some iteration of blurred lips has been popular in Korea for years, but the twist in 2025 was a softer take on the look,” says Lee, noting that formulas like Peripera’s Ink Velvet reigned supreme—and still do. “Rather than a sharp ombré effect, blurry lips were defined with a chunky, rounded, soft lip liner and subtly blended.” The result, she explains, is pretty and plumped, aligning seamlessly with the clean-girl aesthetic that dominated 2025.

AI skincare and more – 6 beauty trends that dominated 2025

Skincare is the basis of our beauty routines and the industry is evolving.

As the skincare shifts toward science-led personalisation, Dr Danielle Gounder, co-founder of Skin-Recode in Cape Town, shares her expert insights on the biggest trends defining 2025.

A review of 2025 skincare trends

Dr Danielle says 2025 was deeply restorative, championing barrier health, minimalism and biotech boosts, all fuelled by a consumer backlash against overkill.

Skincare has become smarter, not harsher, with med-spas and at-home technology narrowing the gap between the clinic and daily routine.

A notable cultural shift also emerged, a decisive move toward more natural aesthetics and a push to undo enhancements where necessary. Subtle, non-surgical body sculpting rose as the confidence-boosting option that still felt true to self.

Here are six skincare trends that took centre stage in 2025:

1. Barrier care took centre stage

“Barrier repair was the undisputed hero of 2025,” Dr Danielle says. “Ceramides, niacinamide and comforting occlusives, including a refined take on slugging – dominated routines designed to heal the sins of over-exfoliation. Sunscreen, meanwhile, evolved into a luxurious essential; silky, reef-safe formulas transformed daily protection into pleasure, not punishment.”

2. Skinimalism: Less is the new more

“The 12-step era faded into memory, replaced by skinimalism: streamlined routines built on high-performing, multi-tasking products,” she explains. “Milky toners that cleanse, hydrate and plump in a single step saw a 49 percent spike in search interest. Efficiency was the new indulgence, ditching viral experiments for proven results.”

3. Biotech and personalisation go mainstream

“Artificial intelligence (AI) shifted skincare from guesswork to precision, enabling custom formulations and personalised guidance without invasive testing,” the doctor says. “Clean, pregnancy-safe and tween-friendly beauty surged, widening access to glowy, gentle care.”

4. Cosmetic proceedure reversals

“Authenticity also reigned. When Kylie Jenner openly dissolved her lip fillers for a softer, more relatable look, it sparked a global wave of ‘filler reversals’. Hyaluronidase bookings soared in clinics as people embraced features that feel theirs inherently – celebrating refreshment over exaggeration,” Dr Danielle explains.

5. The body enters the chat

“Body ‘skinification’ exploded – extending actives like niacinamide and ceramides from the face to the limbs and even the scalp, helping drive a 20 percent category uptick. Hair health innovations continued across removal and regrowth.

6. Non-surgical proceedures

“Most notably, non-surgical contouring took off. Ultrasonic cavitation and laser liposuction have become the sculpting solutions of choice, breaking down stubborn fat with sound waves or laser energy, resulting in minimal downtime and scar-free refinement. These gentler approaches embodied 2025’s core ethos: less drama, more confidence.”

Dr Danielle says, the year that was saw a more considered approach to skincare. “Overall, 2025 rewarded patience — calmer skin, smarter spending and a rejection of extremes, whether filler overload or ingredient hoarding.”

The K-beauty trends expected to explode in 2026, according to a Korean skincare expert

The K-beauty trends expected to explode in 2026, according to a Korean skincare expert

Long before ‘skin barrier’, ‘slugging’ or ‘glass skin’ entered our everyday beauty vocabulary, Korean skincare was quietly setting the standard, rewriting the rules of what effective (and fun) skincare could look like. This year, K-beauty continued to inform skincare trends. And according to the experts, 2026 will show no sign of that interest slowing down. In fact, they believe that the influence of K-beauty is only set to deepen in 2026. As beauty lovers become savvier, the desire for results-driven routines that still feel sensorial has never been stronger. Next year, it’s all about fewer steps, smarter formulas and a focus on long term skin health.

So what’s next? To get a pulse on the trends set to take over our bathroom shelves in the year ahead, K-beauty expert and Skin Cupid CEO and founder, Melody Yuan, exclusively shares her predictions on the innovations, ingredients and philosophies set to define 2026.

Melody tells H! Fashion: “Having already set the global stage for skin care, K-beauty continues to set the benchmark for innovation. UK consumers are becoming more ingredient-savvy, gravitating towards the gentle formulations and advanced technology that Korean skincare is celebrated for. 2026 will be a year defined by personalisation, skin health, and sustainable luxury.”

Keep reading for all the need to know trends, ingredients and innovations in K-beauty for 2026…

 AI-Driven Skin Personalisation

K-beauty is set to embrace next-level personalisation in 2026, driven by rapid advances in beauty tech. Melody explains that tech-integrated skincare will soon deliver truly tailored routines for UK consumers. “With tech-integrated beauty on the rise, 2026 is set to bring personalised routines to UK consumers,” says Melody, pointing to advanced diagnostic tools, app-linked routines, and AI-generated custom formulations that adapt in real time to lifestyle and environmental factors.

Barrier-First

Barrier repair continues to dominate the global skincare conversation and K-beauty is taking it a step further. “Barrier-repair skincare is rising across the globe, and K-beauty will be pushing it further with new-generation strengthening complexes,” notes the expert. She explains that ultra-gentle, microbiome-supporting formulas, particularly those using fermented ingredients, ceramides, and postbiotic blends, will become central to everyday routines. However, she adds that consumers will need to be mindful about how they protect and restore the skin barrier, rather than overdoing it.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA)

PLLA, long associated with in-clinic treatments, is also moving into mainstream skincare. “You may have heard of this ingredient, which is often used in injectable fillers and other dermatology treatments, and we can expect to see more over-the-counter cosmetic products formulated with PLLA in 2026,” she explains. While topical formulas can’t replicate the results of injectables, the expert  explains they can still help exfoliate, hydrate, and improve elasticity for smoother-looking skin.

Hybrid-Skincare Products

The ‘glass skin’ aesthetic continues to dominate, and hybrid skincare is playing a major role in achieving the look. Already gaining momentum, these multitasking formulas are set to become even more prevalent in the year ahead. “We’ve seen a rise in the ‘glass skin’ aesthetic this year, and this is formed by using hybrid-skincare products,” she says. As the category grows, Skin Cupid’s founder explains that hybrid formulas promote wearable, multi-layered radiance through a mix of skincare and makeup benefits. “Think soft-focus glow and skin-boosting luminisers – products that deliver long-term skin health benefits alongside instant luminosity.”

Traditional Ingredients

Modernised hanbang (traditional Korean herbal medicine) is also set to make a strong comeback in 2026, reimagined through a contemporary lens. “We expect that 2026 will see a major surge in modernised hanbang formulas,” says the expert. Ingredients such as ginseng, mugwort, and bamboo sap will rise in popularity, she explains, paired with peptides and advanced encapsulation technologies to improve stability and ingredient delivery.

Sensorial Skincare

As skincare culture continues to thrive on TikTok, sensorial experiences are becoming just as important as results. “With the rise of sensorial skincare on TikTok, Korean beauty brands are set to introduce more sensorial textures, uplifting aromas, and mood-enhancing formulations,” she tells us. By transforming daily routines into moments of self-care, Melody believes sensorial skincare will add an entirely new dimension to the K-beauty market and is one of the most exciting trends to watch in the new year.

An expert’s K-beauty product recommendations for 2026:

Top Wellness And Skincare Trends To Watch In 2026, According To Experts | Beauty News

Last Updated:December 30, 2025, 15:32 IST

From barrier-first Ayurvedic skincare to microplastic-free beauty and skin longevity, discover the key wellness and skincare trends shaping 2026, according to industry experts.

Across Ayurveda-led brands and modern skincare innovators, a shared narrative is emerging: healing over hacking, ritual over reaction, and integrity over instant results

As 2026 approaches, wellness and skincare are moving away from excess and acceleration, toward intention, repair, and long-term balance. Across Ayurveda-led brands and modern skincare innovators, a shared narrative is emerging: healing over hacking, ritual over reaction, and integrity over instant results. Insights from Rajni Ohri, Founder of Ohria Ayurveda, and Nitin Jain, Founder of La Pink, reveal how 2026 will redefine beauty and well-being, inside and out.

Barrier-First Skincare Takes Centre Stage

According to Rajni Ohri, 2026 marks a return to depth over speed. Consumers are becoming cautious of aggressive formulations and are instead embracing barrier-first, Ayurvedic-infused skincare that prioritises repair and resilience. Ingredients such as ashwagandha, manjistha, and licorice are being thoughtfully paired with modern efficacy standards, offering plant-based alternatives that meet dermatologist-approved expectations without compromising purity.

This shift reflects a broader move toward introspective wellness, where protection, nourishment, and long-term skin health matter more than quick visible change.

Beauty From Within Gains Momentum

Beyond topical care, ingestible Ayurveda is emerging as a defining wellness category. Ohri points to growing acceptance of the gut–skin axis, with adaptogens, herbal shots, functional oils, and staples like triphala becoming part of everyday beauty routines. As people seek credible, science-aligned ingestibles, brands rooted in classical knowledge are stepping in to meet modern needs without dilution.

Stress-Supportive Beauty Becomes Essential

The mind–skin connection is no longer a niche concept. Stress-supportive beauty through calming oils, grounding aromas, sleep rituals, and adaptogen-rich formulations is becoming central to skincare routines. Beauty, Ohri notes, is increasingly viewed as nervous system care, offering emotional regulation alongside visible results.

Ritual-Based Living Makes a Return

Perhaps the most defining shift of 2026 is the return to ritual. Practices like self-abhyanga, warm oil scalp massages, mindful mornings, and simplified routines are becoming anchors in daily life. This isn’t about nostalgia, it reflects a collective desire to reconnect with what genuinely sustains health over time.

“In 2026, wellness is about doing what truly heals, not doing more,” says Ohri. “Hybrid Ayurveda where tradition meets science is the new frontier, nourishing the gut, mind, and skin barrier together.”

Microplastic-Free Skincare Becomes Non-Negotiable

From a modern skincare lens, Nitin Jain highlights a parallel awakening: microplastic awareness. Ingredients once used for texture and longevity are now under scrutiny as studies reveal microplastics in human blood and brain tissue. In India, dermatologists are increasingly linking repeated exposure to inflammation and barrier disruption.

As a result, microplastic-free skincare is rapidly shifting from a niche preference to a baseline expectation.

From Glow to Longevity

This awareness is reshaping aesthetics. Jain points to the rise of “butter skin”, soft, nourished, resilient skin that reflects internal health rather than artificial shine. Alongside it is minimal skincare, where fewer, transparent, high-performance products replace overcrowded routines.

The long-term focus? Skin longevity supporting barrier repair, microbiome balance, and graceful ageing rather than chasing instant brightness.

The Rise of Regenerative Actives

Looking ahead, Jain identifies PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) as a hero ingredient poised to dominate skincare in 2026. Known for its regenerative and repair-driven properties, PDRN aligns with the broader shift toward resilience, recovery, and long-term skin strength.

The Bigger Picture

Together, these insights reveal a unified direction for 2026: wellness and skincare rooted in honesty, prevention, and depth. Whether through Ayurvedic rituals or modern regenerative science, the future belongs to approaches that respect the body’s intelligence and support it over time.

In an era of overload, the next chapter of beauty and wellness is quieter, slower and far more meaningful.

7 Top K-Beauty Trends for 2026: Minimalism, PDRN, and Bioactives

7 Top K-Beauty Trends for 2026: Minimalism, PDRN, and Bioactives

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Korean beauty, or K-Beauty, has changed how we see skincare. It gave us “glass skin” and the famous multi-step routine. K-Beauty turns daily habits into a ritual of care. It uses specific active ingredients to solve real skin concerns. This influence has made Korean products a global staple.

By 2026, K-Beauty moves toward efficiency. Science leads the way with bioactive beauty and new ingredients. The industry is also looking closer at scalp health. These trends promise cleaner skin and hair that looks thick and healthy. The focus is now on deep, biological health.

Caroline Choi, founder of Mizz Korea, calls this smart minimalism. “Skin care that’s luxurious, multitasking, and deeply intuitive,” she told Elle.

Choi believes next year will focus on new ingredients and transformative textures. We will see products that change shape during use. Fun formats, like jelly nails, will also trend. Meanwhile, long routines with too many steps are fading. Consumers want results without the clutter.

Top K-Beauty Trends 2026

Here are the top K-Beauty trends predicted for 2026.

1. Hair Essence

Essence is a classic K-Beauty step for the face. It is a liquid that boosts hydration and plumps the skin. In 2026, this concept moves to hair care. People are treating their scalp like their face. They want the same care for hair follicles as they do for pores.

Dr. Jae Yong Ban, CEO of Bano Cosmetics, says the essence format is ready for hair.

“The hair essence market, in particular, seems poised for growth, with potential trends including essence products containing cica to help soothe scalp irritation and root-strengthening essences formulated to help reduce hair loss,” Ban told Elle.

Early versions of these products are already appearing. They offer a light way to treat hair without heavy oils.

2. PDRN

PDRN is a substance from salmon DNA fragments. Doctors have used it for years to heal skin after surgery. Now, in 2026, it is reaching the general public. It is no longer just for clinics. It is coming to your vanity.

Dr. Ban expects PDRN to become a household name. This ingredient fights inflammation and helps the body make collagen. It speeds up skin repair. While few brands use it now, Ban predicts more PDRN creams and serums will hit the market soon. It is the next big step in regenerative beauty.

3. Exosomes

Exosomes are the latest “it” ingredient in bioactive science. Ban predicts their popularity will peak soon. These are tiny bubbles released by cells. They carry proteins and genetic data to other cells. They act like a messenger system, telling cells how to repair themselves.

In skincare, exosomes boost collagen and repair tissue. The challenge is quality. Only human-derived exosomes work well on human skin. This means the cell source and growth environment are vital. To solve this, brands are moving toward bioengineered exosomes. You can see this in treatments like AnteAGE PEARL, which combines microneedling with exosomes and PDRN.

4. Skin Barrier Focus

Protecting the skin barrier is the top priority for 2026. Dr. Y. Claire Chang, a dermatologist at UnionDerm, says barrier products will evolve. The goal is to keep the skin’s natural shield strong against pollution and stress.

“This aligns with what Korean dermatologists have emphasized for years: Gentle, consistent skin care that focuses on skin health,” she says.

Caroline Choi also backs this shift. She believes using the right prep products is essential. When the barrier is strong, skin is less likely to react to external triggers. Health is now more important than a temporary glow.

5. Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA)

PLLA is famous as the main ingredient in fillers like Sculptra. It stimulates the body to create its own collagen. Ban predicts that 2026 will see PLLA move into over-the-counter creams. You won’t need a needle for these benefits.

Topical PLLA is not as strong as an injection, but it still works. It provides light exfoliation and deep hydration. It gives the skin an immediate smooth look. Over time, it helps the skin stay elastic and firm. It is a slow beauty ingredient that builds lasting results.

6. Plant-Based Active Ingredients

Plant ingredients are a K-Beauty staple, but the technology is improving. The 2026 approach uses functional proteins that mimic how skin works. It is about the harmony between nature and biology. Science is now extracting the most potent parts of plants.

“Oat protein has become a true star for its ability to lock in moisture, strengthen the barrier, and calm irritation, while hydrolyzed protein helps the skin appear plumper and more youthful thanks to its high absorbability,” Choi explains.

She also points to Orchistem, a plant stem cell extract. “It boosts collagen production and supports skin elasticity, helping achieve that natural, glass-skin luminosity K-Beauty is known for, but in a smarter, more sustainable way,” she added.

7. Shorter, Targeted Routines

The 10-step routine is officially changing. Experts say the era of “more is more” is over. Viral TikTok trends and “layering for the sake of layering” are losing fans. Consumers are tired of complicated steps that lack clear results.

“In 2026, we will see fewer, smarter steps with multi-functional products and an evidence-backed approach to skin care,” says Dr. Chang.

People are becoming more selective. They want products developed by dermatologists and tested in labs. The focus has shifted to long-term health. Quality is finally winning over quantity.

7 Makeup Trends You’ll See Everywhere in 2026

7 Makeup Trends You’ll See Everywhere in 2026

2026 beauty is bold, expressive and unapologetically imperfect. From goth makeup to sparkles and smoky liner, here’s what’s really coming next.

As we close 2025 out, it’s clear that makeup has been slowly shifting back to something more expressive. We spent the year experimenting with underpainting, pushing blush past “natural” into bold territory with orange and purple shades, leaning into toasty ’90s and early 2000s glam with brown glosses and warm eyes, and rediscovering lip stains. It was fun, it was nostalgic, and it felt like a soft rebellion against years of overly minimal beauty.

But in 2026? 2026 is where things get interesting. While some of these trends are coming with us, because who’s giving up blush? Others are quietly being retired. Clean girl makeup, with its obsession over perfection, symmetry, and “effortless” beauty, is losing relevance. The girls are tired of pretending it takes five minutes and no products to look like that.

2026 is all about individualism and imperfect makeup. It’s the year where your makeup doesn’t have to be universally flattering, it just has to feel like you. Makeup is going back to being an art form, a canvas for emotion, fantasy, and creativity. We’re not blindly copying celebrity looks anymore; instead, we’re remixing references, subcultures, and personal tastes, sharing them online, and letting inspiration move organically.

Here are some makeup trends you can expect to see everywhere in 2026.

The goth revival isn’t subtle, and it’s definitely not accidental. Film and pop culture have been quietly steering us back into this dark aesthetic. Goth (short for gothic) is a subculture and aesthetic that centres around dark romanticism, emotion, art, and self-expression. In beauty, goth is often characterised by dark, muted colour palettes like black, burgundy, and deep purple. With gothic-inspired films like Frankenstein, Nosferatu, Dracula: A Love Tale and Werewulf either released in 2025 or set to dominate 2026, dark romantic aesthetics are having a full renaissance.

This isn’t the heavy-handed goth makeup of the past. 2026 Goth is softer and moodier. Eye makeup leans into smudged blacks, charcoal greys, and deep burgundies that look lived-in rather than precise. Lips are darker but blurred and stained instead of sharply lined. Even contour shifts cooler and greyer, sculpting the face in a way that feels almost cinematic .

Most importantly, goth beauty is no longer framed as something you “grow out of.” It’s being embraced as an aesthetic choice, one rooted in art, storytelling, and identity.

2. Maximalist Eye Makeup

For years, eye makeup has taken a backseat to skincare. Soft browns, barely-there shimmer, maybe a wing if you were feeling brave. 2026 flips that completely. The eyes are back, and they’re demanding attention.

Maximalist eye makeup is less about technique perfection and more about intention. Colour is worn boldly, often layered in unexpected ways, with no pressure to blend everything into oblivion. You’ll see multiple shades on one lid, graphic shapes that don’t quite match on both eyes, and textures colliding, as matte meets metallic and shimmer is layered over cream.

This trend is deeply tied to self-expression. It’s about opening your makeup drawer, pulling out the palettes you abandoned during the clean girl era, and actually playing again. Blue eyeshadow isn’t ironic anymore. Green lids aren’t “editorial-only.” The message is quite simple… if it makes you happy, it works.

After years of warm bronzers, caramel nudes, and golden everything, cool tones are staging a very chic comeback. And no, this isn’t about looking “ashy”; it’s about realism and mood.

Cool-tone makeup in 2026 is softer, more atmospheric, and slightly undone. Contour mimics natural shadows rather than warmth. Eyes lean into silvery greys, muted taupes, cool browns, and mauves. Blush moves away from peach and coral into berry, wine, and lavender-adjacent shades that give the skin a flushed, almost emotional quality.

Lips follow suit, with blue-toned reds, cool pinks, and deeper berry shades replacing overly warm nudes.

4. Glitter, Shimmer, and Sparkle Are Back

Minimalism had its moment, but 2026 is done whispering. Shine is back in a big way, and it’s intentional. Highlighter isn’t pretending to be skin anymore; this time around, it’s glowing, sparkling, and catching the light from across the room. Eyes are glossy, shimmery, and sometimes straight-up glittery, even during the day. Body shimmer returns, not just for holidays or events, but as part of everyday beauty rituals.

What’s changed is the attitude. It’s worn with bare skin, messy hair, and smudged eyeliner. It’s imperfect and very playful.

5. Smoky Eyeliner Is Replacing Perfect Wings

The perfectly sharp wing is no longer the standard. In 2026, eyeliner is softer, smudgier, and far more forgiving.

Instead of crisp lines, liner is blended into the lash line, blurred out with fingers, or melted into eyeshadow. Black is still popular, but brown, plum, and even green are having a moment, especially for daytime wear. The result is eye makeup that feels lived-in, slightly messy, and effortlessly cool.

This trend fits perfectly with the broader shift toward imperfection. If it looks like you slept in it? Even better.

6. Feather Lashes Are the New Statement Lash

Big, heavy lashes aren’t disappearing, but they’re no longer the default. Feather lashes that are light, wispy, and textured are becoming the go-to for 2026.

These lashes move when you blink. They’re uneven on purpose, often longer at the outer corners, and designed to enhance the eye rather than overpower it. They work beautifully with both minimal skin and bold eye looks, making them incredibly versatile. They are romantic, soft, and slightly undone, which is exactly where beauty is heading.

7. Embellished Eyes Are Turning Makeup Into Art Again

If there’s one trend that truly cements makeup as an art form in 2026, it’s embellished eyes. Rhinestones, pearls, and metallic accents are no longer reserved for red carpets or editorial shoots; they’re making their way into real-life looks. Gems are placed under the eyes, along eyeliner shapes, at the inner corners, or even floating across the lids. Sometimes they replace eyeshadow entirely. Sometimes they’re layered over it. The point isn’t practicality; it’s expression.

This trend speaks directly to the idea that makeup doesn’t have to be subtle or useful to be valid. It just has to make you feel something.

Makeup in 2026 isn’t about trends you have to follow. It’s about permission to be messy, dramatic, dark, shiny, colourful, or soft, depending on your mood. The goal isn’t to look polished; it’s to look creative, and use your makeup as a canvas for self-expression.

“I think there’ll be a shift to subtler quiet luxury kind of red carpet glam that focuses on soft textures, softly defined features that makes the person look healthy and luxurious,” he explains, referencing Greta Lee and Zoe Kravitz.

Bobbi Brown Senior PRO Artist, Zara Findlay, says that we’ll be seeing metallics worn in new ways this year, meaning festival and party seasons are sorted. “2025 was all about ‘glitter toppers’, but I think 2026 will bring subtle metallic eyeshadow either swept softly all over the lids (giving more of a wet look) or as a pop in the inner corner of the eyes.”

She continues: “I think consumers are always evolving their makeup style, and the ‘subtle metallic’ is the ‘glitter eye toppers’ older, more sophisticated sister.”

Another easy way to wear this? A hint of metallic liner on an otherwise-bare lid. This can have an incredible impact, with minimal effort. Just be sure to practise a steady hand!

3. Soft goth makeup

Noughties goths: it’s your time to shine, because 2026 is set to see the ‘return’ of all things goth, but with a ‘softer’ approach. “2024 brought back grunge makeup, 2025 was all about the comeback of cool-toned 90s looks, so it seems only right that 2026 will bring the edginess of soft goth makeup,” explains Findlay.

Want to know more about what this looks like? Findlay says that dark eyes, dark lips and muted blush will all be big, “but sophisticatedly done.” A deep plum lip stain with a ‘bitten’ quality is a great entry point for a goth-inspired lip, paired with smoky, softly lined eyes.

4. A new ‘barely-there’ foundation

Every year, there’s some variation of ‘barely-there’ makeup, but 2026 really centres around the base, and is all about a super natural-looking foundation that has a level of coverage but with a skin tint feel. This evolution has been a long-time coming, says Findlay.

“Over the years, consumers have gone from high coverage, super matte foundations to slowly embracing their true skin. With the surge of Korean skincare and makeup making its way to the UK, I think 2026 will be all about finding a foundation that is completely weightless, a perfect match to the skin tone with a beautiful satin finish that makes skin look like skin.”

5. The confident lip, reimagined

If you love a bold lip, you’re in luck this year. However this time, it’s being done a little differently. Aarti P, Beauty Expert and Founder of South Asian Beauty Collective, says that the confident lip is being notably ‘reimagined’ for 2026, making it more wearable (and gorgeous!) than ever.

“Lips are returning as a focal point, but with a softer, more modern energy,” she explains. “Instead of sharply defined, ultra-matte statements, we’ll see blurred edges, satin finishes and rich pigment that feels lived-in rather than rigid.”

The makeup artist looks to Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Deepika Padukone for the ultimate inspiration.

6. Grunge

Grunge, says Chanel Makeup Artist Anna Payne, was “a strong presence on the catwalk, with statement eyes paired with clean, fresh skin.” This look is all about making the eyes pop, meaning minimal makeup elsewhere. If you tend to highlight your eyes as your main feature, grunge may be your 2026 go-to.

“The focus is on a smudged, smoky eye that feels effortless rather than overworked,” Payne adds. In short, you needn’t be too precise or polished; this is about having fun and going with the flow. An eye crayon or soft, smudgy eyeshadow quad will become your new best friend.

7. Cool-toned ’90s lips

Cool toned makeup really enjoyed the spotlight in 2025, but this coming year hones in more specifically on the lip, and how it was worn in the 1990s. “Cool-toned ’90s lips are continuing to trend, reflecting the strong ’90s influence we’re seeing in fashion right now,” says Payne.

“The look is all about using cool-toned brown liners that are softly blended and diffused to add depth and dimension to the lips.” Both Chanel and Vieve offer great cool-toned neutral lipsticks, whilst you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping for smudgy brown lip liners right now.
