Want Glowing Skin Without Luxury Products? Try Rujuta Diwekar’s 4-Step Routine | Beauty News

Last Updated:January 08, 2026, 16:28 IST

Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar revealed her affordable and refreshingly simple four-step beauty regimen.

Good skin does not depend on high-end products but rather begins from inside.

Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar is questioning the belief held by the beauty industry nowadays that elaborate routines and costly treatments are necessary for radiant skin. The fitness and wellness specialist, who has long collaborated with Bollywood celebrities like Kareena Kapoor, shared her simple, low-cost 4-step skincare regimen on Instagram, emphasising that good skin does not depend on high-end products but rather begins from inside.

Taking to Instagram, Rujuta says, “Here’s a four-step skincare routine that I follow, and I think you can do it too. It’s easy, it’s inexpensive, and it’s your ghar ka stuff.”

Watch the video here:

Water for hydration

Hydration is the cornerstone of Rujuta’s simple strategy, which she views as essential to skin health. She stresses the need to drink water all day long, not just when you are thirsty.

“I drink a lot of water during the day. I don’t wait to get thirsty. I drink because I keep water accessible. I can see it, I drink it,” she begins, highlighting that hydration helps flush toxins and maintain skin plumpness and radiance.

Sleep for repair

Sleep becomes the emphasis of Rujuta’s second stage. She advises resting early, generally between 9:30 and 10:00 pm, to give the body enough time for repair and renewal of cells.

“I make sure that I go to bed between 9:30 and 10 on most nights of the year, unless I’m travelling or there’s an emergency,” she says, reiterating that getting enough sleep helps boost the formation of collagen and minimise puffiness and dark circles—benefits that are often sought after through expensive treatments.

Workout for hormones

The third point of Rujuta’s routine is physical activity on a regular basis. She suggests a small, regular program of exercises that one can do in daily life rather than pushing hard exercises or subscribing to a gym. Regular physical activity leads to increased blood circulation, which provides the skin with nutrients and oxygen necessary for its natural glow and overall health.

“Nothing too much, nothing too little, but something that I log in week by week. And I ensure that as a working woman, I am done with my exercise before 9 am every single day,” she says.

No skincare videos

Rujuta’s refusal to engage in viral gimmicks and her disregard for skincare trends might be the most surprising feature of her method. She is quite vocal about her refusal to see videos of skincare routines and not to be taken in by products that promise age-defying transformations or anti-ageing miracles.

“I don’t fall for anything that says anti-ageing. I don’t fall for anything that says look 20 years younger than your age,” she says, advising followers to be cautious of flashy marketing and instead trust fundamental habits.

Rujuta’s message, which reminds viewers that regular, simple practices often outperform complex, costly procedures, connects with a growing movement towards simplicity and skin health rooted in lifestyle choices. “Keep it real this year. Have a glowing 2026,” she mentions in the caption.

From burnout to balanced, these beauty rituals help support your mental health – Shaw Local

From burnout to balanced, these beauty rituals help support your mental health – Shaw Local

Burnout has become one of the most defining experiences of modern life. Long workdays, digital overload, and constant pressure to “do more” have left many people feeling emotionally drained and physically disconnected. As 2026 approaches, wellness culture is shifting away from extreme routines and toward something softer, slower, and more sustainable. At the center of this movement is a powerful idea: beauty rituals can be mental health tools.

More than skincare or self-care trends, these practices focus on creating moments of calm, grounding, and restoration in everyday life.

One of the most popular rituals leading this shift is gua sha—a centuries-old facial massage technique rooted in traditional Chinese medicine. Using a smooth stone tool to gently glide across the face and neck helps stimulate circulation, release tension, and reduce puffiness. Beyond the physical benefits, gua sha offers something deeper: five to ten uninterrupted minutes of slow, intentional touch. For many, that quiet moment becomes a form of moving meditation.

Then there’s the return of the bath—not as a luxury, but as a necessity. Warm water helps relax muscles, lower cortisol levels, and signal the nervous system that it’s safe to rest. Adding Epsom salts, essential oils, or even simple unscented soaps can transform a basic bath into a decompression ritual. In a world that rarely slows down, being submerged in stillness has become a powerful form of reset.

Scent therapy, or aromatherapy, is also taking a front seat in mental wellness routines. Scents like lavender, sandalwood, eucalyptus, and citrus are known to influence mood and memory. A candle lit at the end of the day, a roller oil applied before a meeting, or even a favorite perfume worn intentionally can create emotional anchors throughout the day—small signals to breathe, pause, and recalibrate.

Journaling, once seen as purely emotional or creative, is now widely recognized for its mental health benefits. Writing helps process stress, track emotional patterns, and release mental overload. Many people pair journaling with beauty rituals—writing while wearing a face mask, after a bath, or before skincare—to create a calm transition between the demands of the day and the rest that should follow.

All of these practices fall under a larger movement known as slow beauty. Instead of rushing through routines or chasing endless product launches, slow beauty prioritizes intention over excess. The focus is on fewer products, deeper care, and being fully present during the ritual itself. It’s not about looking flawless—it’s about feeling grounded.

This shift reflects a broader truth that many are embracing: mental wellness and physical beauty are not separate. How we care for our bodies influences how we experience our minds. Gentle rituals create predictability in uncertain times. They teach the nervous system safety. They help people move from survival mode into something more sustainable.

In Kane County and beyond, this softer approach to wellness is quietly taking root—at home, in local studios, and even in everyday routines between work and family life. For those navigating burnout, these rituals don’t fix everything. But they offer something just as meaningful: small, steady steps back toward balance.

And sometimes, that’s exactly where healing begins.

Viral
beauty
hacks
spread
fast
on
social
media,
but
many
people
wonder
if
they
really
work
in
daily
life.
Two
popular
tricks
are
the
“frozen
beauty
blender” for
smoother
foundation
and
“tape
eyeliner”
for
sharp
wings.
This
article
looks
at
how
each
hack
works,
how
to
try
it,
and
possible
downsides.

The
frozen
beauty
blender
hack
suggests
you
wet
your
makeup
sponge,
place
it
in
the
freezer
for
a
short
time,
then
use
it
cold.
Fans
claim
it
gives
a
smoother
base,
smaller
looking
pores,
and
helps
makeup
last
longer.
The
idea
is
that
cold
helps
calm
the
skin
and
reduce
shine.

The
article
explores
the
effectiveness
and
methods
of
two
viral
beauty
hacks:
using
a
frozen
beauty
blender,
which
potentially
smooths
foundation
and
reduces
shine,
and
tape
eyeliner,
which
aims
to
create
sharp
winged
eyeliner.
It
examines
the
benefits,
downsides,
and
suitability
of
each
technique
for
various
skin
types
and
preferences.

First,
run
your
beauty
blender
under
clean
water
until
it
swells.
Squeeze
out
extra
water
so
it
is
damp,
not
dripping.
Place
the
sponge
in
a
clean
container
or
bag
and
put
it
in
the
freezer
for
around
ten
to
fifteen
minutes.
Take
it
out
when
cool
and
firm,
then
apply
liquid
foundation
as
usual.

Does
the
frozen
beauty
blender
hack
actually
work?

The
cold
sponge
can
feel
fresh
on
the
skin
and
may
reduce
some
puffiness
for
a
short
time.
It
can
also
slow
how
fast
foundation
dries,
which
may
help
with
blending.
Many
users
see
smoother
makeup
in
cooler
weather
or
on
normal
to
oily
skin,
but
results
vary
from
person
to
person.

Benefits
of
using
a
frozen
beauty
blender

A
chilled
sponge
may
help
foundation
look
more
even,
especially
around
the
nose
and
cheeks.
The
cool
touch
can
calm
mild
redness
for
a
while.
In
hot
Indian
weather,
it
may
feel
more
comfortable
than
a
warm
tool.
People
with
oily
skin
sometimes
feel
it
helps
makeup
sit
better
and
stay
less
greasy
during
the
day.

Possible
downsides
of
the
frozen
beauty
blender
hack

Keeping
a
sponge
in
the
freezer
for
too
long
can
make
it
very
stiff
and
less
easy
to
bounce
on
the
skin.
Very
cold
tools
may
not
feel
good
on
sensitive
skin.
If
the
sponge
is
not
stored
cleanly,
there
is
also
a
risk
of
germs.
Some
dry
skin
types
may
feel
tighter
or
flaky
after
using
a
chilled
sponge.

Who
might
like
or
skip
the
frozen
beauty
blender

This
hack
may
suit
people
with
normal
to
combination
or
oily
skin
who
enjoy
a
cooling
effect
while
doing
base
makeup.
It
might
not
suit
very
dry
or
sensitive
skin,
or
those
prone
to
redness
and
irritation.
If
you
dislike
cold
on
your
face,
the
small
benefit
in
blend
may
not
feel
worth
the
discomfort.

What
is
the
tape
eyeliner
hack?

The
tape
eyeliner
hack
uses
small
strips
of
tape
placed
at
the
outer
corner
of
the
eye
to
guide
liquid
or
gel
eyeliner.
The
tape
acts
like
a
stencil
to
help
draw
a
sharp,
angled
wing.
Many
people
online
use
this
trick
to
get
both
wings
the
same
shape
and
angle.

How
to
try
the
tape
eyeliner
hack
safely

Cut
a
short
strip
of
gentle
tape
and
stick
it
on
the
back
of
your
hand
first.
This
step
reduces
the
glue
strength.
Place
the
tape
along
the
outer
corner
of
your
eye,
pointing
toward
the
end
of
your
brow.
Draw
your
eyeliner
along
the
edge,
fill
in
the
wing,
let
it
dry,
then
slowly
peel
off
the
tape.

Does
the
tape
eyeliner
hack
actually
work?

For
many
people,
tape
does
give
a
clean,
straight
wing
edge.
It
can
help
beginners
understand
what
angle
suits
their
eye
shape.
The
guide
also
reduces
fear
of
making
the
line
too
thick.
However,
the
result
depends
on
tape
placement,
hand
control,
and
the
kind
of
eyeliner
used.

Benefits
of
using
tape
for
eyeliner

The
tape
eyeliner
hack
can
save
time
if
you
often
need
to
fix
uneven
wings.
It
acts
like
a
ruler
for
your
makeup,
which
some
users
find
helpful
before
big
events
or
photos.
Once
you
learn
the
right
angle,
it
may
also
teach
muscle
memory,
so
later
you
can
draw
a
wing
freehand
with
more
ease.

Possible
risks
and
limits
of
the
tape
eyeliner
hack

Tape
can
tug
the
thin
skin
near
the
eyes
when
removed,
which
some
people
find
harsh.
Strong
glue
may
cause
redness
or
leave
marks
for
a
short
time.
If
the
tape
is
not
placed
in
the
same

on
both
sides,
wings
can
still
look

Those

Co-founder of REFY shares her beauty and wellness non-negotiables for 2026 – Emirates Woman

Co-founder of REFY shares her beauty and wellness non-negotiables for 2026 – Emirates Woman

Beauty

The cover star of our January Wellness issue – beauty mogul behind REFY Jess Hunt – shares what her beauty and wellness non-negotiables are for 2026.

Hunt reveals her morning routine, her nighttime rituals and what beauty product is always in her bag. Here, she also tells Emirates Woman where she stands on the cold plunge trend.

What’s the one non-negotiable step in your morning wellness routine?

The one non-negotiable in my morning wellness routine would have to be my morning journal. I feel like this sets me up for the day and puts me in the best mindset, ready to take on whatever my day holds for me.

Beyond aesthetics, what is the core feeling you want REFY to give to its users?

When I built REFY, my mission was to encourage people to feel like their most confident selves. So confidence for sure.

What’s the one beauty product that’s always in your bag?

The one beauty product always in my bag, probably my REFY Lip Gloss.

How do you mentally switch off from founder-mode in the evenings?

To switch off from founder-mode in the evenings – this is something I’m trying to get better at – but my new thing is putting on some relaxing music, maybe changing the lights, putting on some candles, and just really trying to create that wellness, calm vibe.

What does wellness mean to you as a beauty expert?

Wellness means everything to me. I think this has been something I focused on so much the past couple years. I feel like without feeling good on the inside, I don’t look as good on the outside, and I also can’t perform to my best. So taking care of myself is number one.

The key to making a “5-minute makeup” routine look polished?

The key to making a five-minute makeup routine looking polished would have to be just products that do all of the hard work for you. That was the whole reason why I created REFY in the first place is to completely simplify my routine. And one product in particular is the Duo Brush. I use that for absolutely everything. And yeah, it just creates the most flawless finish every time.

We’re thrilled REFY is launching in Dubai. What about the Dubai beauty scene inspired this move?

I’ve wanted to bring REFY to Dubai for the longest time. We have the most incredible community here, and the timing had to be perfect. And of course, now is the right time, and above everything, I feel like the UAE in general are just so knowledgeable when it comes to beauty, so the fact that REFY has been received so well means so so much, because I feel like you guys are truly the experts.

A wellness trend you’re loving?

A wellness trend that I’m loving right now, and it seems obvious, is enough sleep. I want to be getting anywhere from eight hours a night, because I always feel my best when I have a great sleep, and then one that I’d like to leave behind, probably the whole ice bath situation. I think if it works for you, then great. But for me, I just do not enjoy that.

What’s your New Year’s Resolution?

I would say a big thing for me every single year is just trying to be 1% better, so setting some goals and just proving to yourself that you can do something that might be hard or might be a little bit outside of your comfort zone, and it can start so small, whether it is just having a better morning routine, or whether it is making more time for yourself, then make that a priority, because it truly has an impact on everything in your life.

AI skincare and more – 6 beauty trends that dominated 2025

Skincare is the basis of our beauty routines and the industry is evolving.

As the skincare shifts toward science-led personalisation, Dr Danielle Gounder, co-founder of Skin-Recode in Cape Town, shares her expert insights on the biggest trends defining 2025.

A review of 2025 skincare trends

Dr Danielle says 2025 was deeply restorative, championing barrier health, minimalism and biotech boosts, all fuelled by a consumer backlash against overkill.

Skincare has become smarter, not harsher, with med-spas and at-home technology narrowing the gap between the clinic and daily routine.

A notable cultural shift also emerged, a decisive move toward more natural aesthetics and a push to undo enhancements where necessary. Subtle, non-surgical body sculpting rose as the confidence-boosting option that still felt true to self.

READ MORE | Skincare through the ages – how to care for your skin as you age

Here are six skincare trends that took centre stage in 2025:

1. Barrier care took centre stage

“Barrier repair was the undisputed hero of 2025,” Dr Danielle says. “Ceramides, niacinamide and comforting occlusives, including a refined take on slugging – dominated routines designed to heal the sins of over-exfoliation. Sunscreen, meanwhile, evolved into a luxurious essential; silky, reef-safe formulas transformed daily protection into pleasure, not punishment.”

2. Skinimalism: Less is the new more

“The 12-step era faded into memory, replaced by skinimalism: streamlined routines built on high-performing, multi-tasking products,” she explains. “Milky toners that cleanse, hydrate and plump in a single step saw a 49 percent spike in search interest. Efficiency was the new indulgence, ditching viral experiments for proven results.”

3. Biotech and personalisation go mainstream

“Artificial intelligence (AI) shifted skincare from guesswork to precision, enabling custom formulations and personalised guidance without invasive testing,” the doctor says. “Clean, pregnancy-safe and tween-friendly beauty surged, widening access to glowy, gentle care.”

4. Cosmetic proceedure reversals

“Authenticity also reigned. When Kylie Jenner openly dissolved her lip fillers for a softer, more relatable look, it sparked a global wave of ‘filler reversals’. Hyaluronidase bookings soared in clinics as people embraced features that feel theirs inherently – celebrating refreshment over exaggeration,” Dr Danielle explains.

5. The body enters the chat

“Body ‘skinification’ exploded – extending actives like niacinamide and ceramides from the face to the limbs and even the scalp, helping drive a 20 percent category uptick. Hair health innovations continued across removal and regrowth.

6. Non-surgical proceedures

“Most notably, non-surgical contouring took off. Ultrasonic cavitation and laser liposuction have become the sculpting solutions of choice, breaking down stubborn fat with sound waves or laser energy, resulting in minimal downtime and scar-free refinement. These gentler approaches embodied 2025’s core ethos: less drama, more confidence.”

Dr Danielle says, the year that was saw a more considered approach to skincare. “Overall, 2025 rewarded patience — calmer skin, smarter spending and a rejection of extremes, whether filler overload or ingredient hoarding.”

Top Wellness And Skincare Trends To Watch In 2026, According To Experts | Beauty News

Top Wellness And Skincare Trends To Watch In 2026, According To Experts | Beauty News

Last Updated:December 30, 2025, 15:32 IST

From barrier-first Ayurvedic skincare to microplastic-free beauty and skin longevity, discover the key wellness and skincare trends shaping 2026, according to industry experts.

Across Ayurveda-led brands and modern skincare innovators, a shared narrative is emerging: healing over hacking, ritual over reaction, and integrity over instant results

As 2026 approaches, wellness and skincare are moving away from excess and acceleration, toward intention, repair, and long-term balance. Across Ayurveda-led brands and modern skincare innovators, a shared narrative is emerging: healing over hacking, ritual over reaction, and integrity over instant results. Insights from Rajni Ohri, Founder of Ohria Ayurveda, and Nitin Jain, Founder of La Pink, reveal how 2026 will redefine beauty and well-being, inside and out.

Barrier-First Skincare Takes Centre Stage

According to Rajni Ohri, 2026 marks a return to depth over speed. Consumers are becoming cautious of aggressive formulations and are instead embracing barrier-first, Ayurvedic-infused skincare that prioritises repair and resilience. Ingredients such as ashwagandha, manjistha, and licorice are being thoughtfully paired with modern efficacy standards, offering plant-based alternatives that meet dermatologist-approved expectations without compromising purity.

This shift reflects a broader move toward introspective wellness, where protection, nourishment, and long-term skin health matter more than quick visible change.

Beauty From Within Gains Momentum

Beyond topical care, ingestible Ayurveda is emerging as a defining wellness category. Ohri points to growing acceptance of the gut–skin axis, with adaptogens, herbal shots, functional oils, and staples like triphala becoming part of everyday beauty routines. As people seek credible, science-aligned ingestibles, brands rooted in classical knowledge are stepping in to meet modern needs without dilution.

Stress-Supportive Beauty Becomes Essential

The mind–skin connection is no longer a niche concept. Stress-supportive beauty through calming oils, grounding aromas, sleep rituals, and adaptogen-rich formulations is becoming central to skincare routines. Beauty, Ohri notes, is increasingly viewed as nervous system care, offering emotional regulation alongside visible results.

Ritual-Based Living Makes a Return

Perhaps the most defining shift of 2026 is the return to ritual. Practices like self-abhyanga, warm oil scalp massages, mindful mornings, and simplified routines are becoming anchors in daily life. This isn’t about nostalgia, it reflects a collective desire to reconnect with what genuinely sustains health over time.

“In 2026, wellness is about doing what truly heals, not doing more,” says Ohri. “Hybrid Ayurveda where tradition meets science is the new frontier, nourishing the gut, mind, and skin barrier together.”

Microplastic-Free Skincare Becomes Non-Negotiable

From a modern skincare lens, Nitin Jain highlights a parallel awakening: microplastic awareness. Ingredients once used for texture and longevity are now under scrutiny as studies reveal microplastics in human blood and brain tissue. In India, dermatologists are increasingly linking repeated exposure to inflammation and barrier disruption.

As a result, microplastic-free skincare is rapidly shifting from a niche preference to a baseline expectation.

From Glow to Longevity

This awareness is reshaping aesthetics. Jain points to the rise of “butter skin”, soft, nourished, resilient skin that reflects internal health rather than artificial shine. Alongside it is minimal skincare, where fewer, transparent, high-performance products replace overcrowded routines.

The long-term focus? Skin longevity supporting barrier repair, microbiome balance, and graceful ageing rather than chasing instant brightness.

The Rise of Regenerative Actives

Looking ahead, Jain identifies PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) as a hero ingredient poised to dominate skincare in 2026. Known for its regenerative and repair-driven properties, PDRN aligns with the broader shift toward resilience, recovery, and long-term skin strength.

The Bigger Picture

Together, these insights reveal a unified direction for 2026: wellness and skincare rooted in honesty, prevention, and depth. Whether through Ayurvedic rituals or modern regenerative science, the future belongs to approaches that respect the body’s intelligence and support it over time.

In an era of overload, the next chapter of beauty and wellness is quieter, slower and far more meaningful.

Beauty Industry’s MAJOR shift towards skin longevity and barrier care

Beauty Industry’s MAJOR shift towards skin longevity and barrier care

Skincare in 2026 will focus on skin longevity, gentle care, and personalised routines. The goal is healthy, strong skin over time rather than quick beauty results.

The skincare industry is moving towards a healthier and more thoughtful approach. By 2026, beauty will no longer be about quick results or instant glow. Rather, the emphasis will be on skin longevity, which implies maintaining the skin’s robustness, equilibrium, and vitality for many years. More and more people realise that it is better to take care of the skin gently in the long run than through some treatments that might harm the skin. This transition indicates that the skincare routine has already changed to one of preventing, protecting, and knowing how skin naturally functions.

Skin longevity becomes the main goal:

In 2026, skincare regimens will mainly be about enhancing the skin’s inherent capability to heal and safeguard itself. People will not just deal with the problems as they come up, but will work on their prevention. Antioxidants, peptides, and vitamins will be among the ingredients that will be allowed to facilitate the fading of the first signs of ageing. The intention is not to alter the skin but rather to assist it in a good ageing process. This method calls for staying power and regularity instead of demanding instantaneous results.

Stronger emphasis on the skin barrier:

Another major trend is taking care of the skin barrier, which is the outer layer that retains moisture and also acts as a shield for the skin, protecting it from pollution, sun rays, and irritation. If this barrier gets hurt, the skin turns dry, sensitive, and lacklustre. The day will come when mild cleansers and feeding creams will gain popularity over strong exfoliators or acids. Components like ceramides and soothers will assist in maintaining the barrier’s vitality. This alteration is a reminder to the populace that delicate treatment is the main factor of long skin health.

Smarter and more personalised skincare:

The skincare industry in 2026 will be more intelligent and customised. The tech, which will have the most significant impact on skincare, will help consumers know their skin better and pick salon-like products according to their skin, lifestyle and environmental conditions. People will move from using a lot of products to having simple daily routines with fewer but effective formulas. This ‘less is more’ trick will be time-saving, irritation-reducing and results-enhancing. In short, the road to beauty is through informed decisions and such skincare habits that eventually lead to healthy, vibrant skin and this won’t be just for today but years down the line.

A Complete Guide To Building A Bridal Skincare Routine That Truly Works | Beauty News

A Complete Guide To Building A Bridal Skincare Routine That Truly Works | Beauty News

Last Updated:December 23, 2025, 11:12 IST

From expert-backed timelines to daily routines and professional treatments, here’s how brides can build a skincare routine that delivers healthy, radiant skin before the big day

Dermatologists and skincare experts agree on one thing, however: effective bridal skincare is not about speed, but about structure, consistency, and restraint.

In the months leading up to a wedding, skincare often becomes a source of anxiety rather than self-care. Between social media trends, last-minute facials, and product overload, many brides chase instant glow, only to end up with stressed or reactive skin. Dermatologists and skincare experts agree on one thing, however: effective bridal skincare is not about speed, but about structure, consistency, and restraint.

Start Early, Not Urgently

According to O3+ Professional experts, a bridal skincare routine should ideally begin at least three months before the wedding. This window allows the skin enough time to respond naturally, strengthen its barrier, and show lasting improvement rather than short-lived radiance. “Skincare needs time to work at a cellular level,” they emphasise, adding that rushed routines often result in irritation or uneven results.

Echoing this, Snigdha Suman, General Manager, Marketing & Business Development, Avon, recommends starting even earlier. “One of the most common mistakes brides make is beginning their skincare journey too close to the wedding,” she explains. “Skincare is not an overnight fix, it requires time, consistency, and the right regimen.” Ideally, she suggests beginning five to six months in advance to allow the skin to heal, build resilience, and reveal natural radiance.

Build the Foundation First

All three experts agree that no advanced treatment can compensate for a weak daily routine. The foundation of bridal skincare lies in gentle cleansing, moisturisation, and sun protection.

O3+ Professional highlights daily cleansing as the first essential step, recommending the O3+ Bridal Radiance Facewash to keep the skin clean, balanced, and prepared for further care. Sun protection is equally non-negotiable during the pre-wedding phase. “Using an SPF like the O3+ Bridal Radiance Sunscreen SPF 50 helps protect against tanning, pigmentation, and uneven tone,” their experts note.

Shaily Mehrotra, CEO & co-founder, Fixderma, reinforces the importance of sunscreen, calling it “one of the most overlooked yet critical steps in any bridal routine.” She points out that sun exposure is a major cause of pigmentation, premature ageing, and dullness, issues many brides try to correct too late.

Consistency Over Complexity

While the beauty market offers countless treatments and actives, experts caution against doing too much. “The golden rule of effective skincare is consistency,” says Snigdha Suman. A simple but disciplined routine, cleansing, toning, moisturising, sun protection, supported by serums and eye care delivers far better results than sporadic treatments or last-minute facials.

At Avon, this long-term philosophy is reflected in the ANEW range, designed to support skin health over time. Ingredients like patented Protinol, combined with niacinamide and vitamin C, help boost collagen, improve firmness, and even out skin tone without the irritation often associated with traditional retinol. “The goal is resilient skin, not reactive skin,” adds Suman.

Introducing Treatments and Targeted Care

Shaily Mehrotra advises a similar phased approach. Once the skin barrier is stable, targeted ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, or mild exfoliants can be introduced but only in the right concentrations and with patience. “Overuse can do more harm than good,” she cautions, stressing the importance of gradual integration rather than aggressive correction.

The Final Weeks: Less Is More

As the wedding draws closer, experts unanimously recommend simplifying the routine. “The final weeks are not the time to experiment,” says Mehrotra. Instead, the focus should shift to hydration, barrier repair, calming ingredients, and adequate rest. Stress, lack of sleep, and long schedules can quickly reflect on the skin, making eye care and lifestyle balance just as important as topical products.

Glow That Lasts Beyond the Wedding

Ultimately, bridal skincare is not about perfection or chasing unrealistic standards. As Snigdha Suman puts it, “Makeup may elevate the final look, but it is healthy, well-prepared skin that truly defines a bride’s glow.” When approached thoughtfully, a bridal skincare routine doesn’t just deliver beautiful wedding photographs, it builds skin health that lasts long after the celebrations end.

Or, as O3+ Professional experts conclude, consistency and structure are what help brides achieve healthy, even-toned, naturally radiant skin not just for one day, but for the years that follow.

21 Beauty Lessons To Learn And Live By, According To NZ Experts

21 Beauty Lessons To Learn And Live By, According To NZ Experts

Nine New Zealand tastemakers share the beauty lessons passed down through generations, the wellness practices that draw on heritage, and the daily rituals they use to stay calm, grounded and connected.

You don’t need

Listen to your skin. You don’t need to follow the same skincare routine every night. If your face is feeling dry, hydrate with face oils and moisturisers to provide that extra hydration. If it’s feeling oily, use a lighter gel moisturiser. You are the only one inhabiting this body, nourish it.

Sunscreen is always a non-negotiable. Japanese sunscreens are so, so good – not only are they super light but your makeup application will thank you as they act in part as the best primer for makeup.

Sleep is your best friend. While some of us may not get the full 8.5 hours, embrace it. Turn off all screens and be present. Rested. At ease. Your mood tomorrow will thank you.

The best piece of advice I’ve been given lately: Stress kills gratitude. Rushing kills presence. Fear kills possibility.

(Now read that backwards).

Keep it simple, stay consistent. If you’ve ever found yourself on #beautytok, you’ll know that skincare trends are constantly changing, with new ingredients being hyped every time you scroll. But the most enduring advice when it comes to skincare is that a simple routine practised consistently will do more for your skin than any fleeting trend. When you give your skin stability with an at-home routine that consists of products suited to your skin type, that’s when you’ll find harmony (and a happy skin barrier).

Experiment! Everything washes off. Beauty should be playful, not precious, and I’m reminded of this every time I attend a makeup launch or receive a new set of colourful lipsticks or eyeliners. Knowing that a bold lip or a quirky eyeliner can be wiped away in an instant gives you freedom to experiment and get creative – something that’s impossible to do when you’re aiming for perfection. Some of my favourite beauty looks have come from these low-stakes trials and taking a chance on something a little out of my comfort zone.

Honour your heritage. When it comes to anything wellness related, I tap into my Chinese heritage for guidance. For example, a morning routine is really important to start your day right. Something I have consistently done over the years is drinking warm water first thing in the morning. This allows me to set up my digestive system for the day, promote circulation and detoxification while balancing yin and yang, the latter playing a big part in my sense of calmness.

Stack your morning habits. Another Eastern wellness routine that I swear by comes from both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, tongue scraping. I do this before I brush my teeth with a bronze tongue scraper, and it just feels like I’m taking that extra step to ensure I start the day right.

Don’t forget your feet. Every six months, I also get a Chinese pedicure and reflexology massage. It’s important to take care of your feet as you age, and this very simple combination of scraping dead skin and massaging the pressure points of your feet is actually a vital part of overall health and wellbeing.

Wellness comes from within. What you give to your body, it will give you back. Drink two litres of water a day, nourish with whole foods, touch some grass and of course, drink your matcha.

Nothing protects, preserves and future-proofs like SPF. Your face and neck are a given, but don’t miss the back of your hands. Your 60-year-old self will thank you.

Spend where the change happens. Cleansers and moisturisers are your support crew. Serums are what will drive the results.

Skin prep is non-negotiable. The one piece of beauty advice that has stuck with me came early in my career from the M.A.C greats – Amber D, James Molloy and the other incredible artists. I learned that achieving a radiant, second-skin finish starts long before you pick up a foundation brush. Proper hydration, priming and preparation (both internal and external) is what separates makeup that melts into your skin, enhancing what’s already there, from makeup that sits on top looking cakey and making it hard to blend.

The body keeps the score, even in beauty. The moment I started using high-quality active ingredients on my arms, legs and chest, everything changed. My skin tone evened out and I felt more confident in my own texture. It made me realise that taking care of your body is deeply emotional, not just cosmetic. Treating the body holistically creates the kind of all-over glow you can’t get from facial skincare alone.

Wellness shows up on your skin before it shows up anywhere else. A nutritionist told me that your skin is usually the first to report back on stress, sleep and hormones. Dullness, breakouts, inflammation – they often speak louder than any lab result. It taught me to treat skincare and wellness as teammates, not separate categories.

Treat your neck and chest as part of your face. I ignored that area for years until extending my skincare downward became a ritual, and honestly, it’s one of the changes that made the biggest visible difference. It feels like taking care of future me.

Mary Outram

A swipe of lipstick will always make you feel polished. My mum always told me that my grandmother Mary (who I was named after) would never go into town without her lipstick on… even though she lived rurally on a farm. My mum passed that little ritual down to me, not as something over the top, but as a simple way to feel a bit more polished. Most days I don’t wear makeup, but I always brush up my brows, wear a touch of something on the lip, and let my BONNIE GLOW Gradual Tanning Face Drops and moisturiser do the rest. Lately, I’ve been loving M.A.C’s Soar Lip Liner paired with the YSL Love Shine Lipstick in Shade: 200 Rosy Sand, or a slick of the Hair Candy Lip Gloss.

In summer, use a leave-in conditioner to hydrate and protect your hair from dryness, breakage and colour fade. You can then style it sleek and chic: centre or side part, slick back to the nape and secure in a chignon. Or for a loose beachy wave look, apply before bed and loosely braid, taking them out in the morning. The Rolls-Royce leave-in conditioner I recommend is the new Davines Beautiful Things Leave-In Mask, a healing and nourishing biotech treatment that protects from UV and heat.

Sara Higgins

Skin health is a reflection of internal wellbeing. Supporting gut function, managing stress and nourishing the body consistently have the greatest impact on how skin looks and feels. When the inside is cared for, the glow follows naturally.

Hydrate the fascia, not just the body. This has stayed with me as a guiding principle. Gentle movement incorporating bowspring, regular massage (daily self-massage and from a therapist when I can), and proper hydration keep everything supple and connected. When the fascia is nourished, the whole body moves and feels better.
