A natural detox depends on consistent habits rather than quick fixes. Through hydration, nutrient-rich food, movement, sleep, and mindful rituals, the body can recover gradually.

Consistent routines build long-term resilience against pollution.

Delhi’s winter has its charm, but rising pollution levels often dull the experience. The mix of dry air, smog and soaring particulate matter exerts pressure on the body, dehydrates the skin, irritates the scalp, and leaves many feeling sluggish. A natural detox during this season isn’t about restrictive cleanses. It’s about small, steady habits that help the body eliminate what it doesn’t need while rebuilding strength from within.

Support The Body’s Natural Detox Systems

True detoxification is a daily, internal process managed by the liver, kidneys, lymphatic system and skin. These organs perform best when the body receives adequate hydration, nutrition, movement and rest.

According to Dr. Chiranjiv Chhabra, Chief Dermatologist and Founder, Alive Wellness Clinics, Delhi, nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin E, polyphenols and omega-3 fatty acids are crucial during pollution-heavy months. “These nutrients help counter oxidative stress and support the body’s repair mechanisms,” she notes. Consistent hydration further aids digestion, prevents fatigue, and keeps natural cleansing pathways functioning smoothly.

Movement is another essential pillar. Asad Hussain, Founder and Exercise Scientist at OddsFitness, emphasises that detoxing doesn’t require extreme workouts. “Simple indoor routines such as mobility drills, bodyweight strength training, and short conditioning sessions help stimulate circulation and lymphatic flow,” he explains. Sweating during exercise may release small amounts of waste, but the main detoxification is still handled by the liver and kidneys. The real benefits lie in reduced fatigue, improved mood and better resilience after prolonged pollution exposure.

Rest completes the cycle. Quality sleep, ideally seven to nine hours, supports hormonal balance, tissue repair and cognitive recovery, making it indispensable for winter wellness.

Rebuild The Skin Barrier After Pollution Exposure

Pollutants weaken the skin barrier, clog pores and trigger inflammation. Dr. Chhabra stresses that the first step toward healthy winter skin is restoring this barrier. Gentle cleansing, hydrating serums and antioxidant skincare help neutralise irritation and replenish moisture. Ingredients like niacinamide, ceramides, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C are especially beneficial.

Professional treatments can create deeper, faster repair. Skin boosters rebuild hydration from within, and antioxidant drip therapy delivers detoxifying nutrients directly into the bloodstream for overall recovery.

Don’t Ignore Scalp And Hair Health

The scalp often takes an unseen hit during high-pollution months. Pollutants accumulate at the roots, disrupt the microbiome and contribute to irritation or hair fall. Professional treatments, along with mild exfoliating tonics and peptide-based care, help remove build-up and promote healthier growth.

A Small Ritual That Makes A Difference

During severe pollution spells, many turn to soothing daily rituals – one of the simplest being a warm cup of tea. Rich in antioxidants, tea helps neutralise free radicals and gently supports the body. High-quality blends with lower fluoride levels offer comfort while supplying mild nourishment.

A winter detox isn’t a quick fix; it’s a rhythm. With steady hydration, nutrient-rich meals, moderate movement, restorative sleep and mindful skin and scalp care, the body naturally finds balance. As both experts emphasise, long-term resilience comes from consistent routines and not drastic overhauls.

9 Winter 2026 Makeup Trends, According To Top Experts

9 Winter 2026 Makeup Trends, According To Top Experts

Winter is here, and according to Hollywood’s most in-demand glam Avengers, it’s bringing plenty of makeup inspo. This season, trends read like a blend of bold throwbacks from every decade — mostly ’60s, ’90s, or 2000s, depending on which pro you ask — with something undeniably modern layered on top.

Warm berry lips have edged out classic reds, while cool-toned blushes (yes, even beige ones) are suddenly everywhere. Skin is either glazed in all the right places or softly matte, while eyeshadows are split between smudged ’90s grunge and frosted Y2K shimmer.

But, across the board, one thing is for certain: Winter glam isn’t one-size-fits-all, and red lips aren’t the only way to make a statement this season. You can lean into babydoll pink blushes, maroon smoky eyes, vampy matte lips, doll-like lashes, or a monochrome wash of warm glossy tones — and it all feels current. Whether you’re drawn to Jenna Ortega–style gothic glaze, Hailey Bieber’s “I’m cold” flush, or Kylie Jenner’s porcelain babydoll moment, there’s a winter look waiting for you in this lineup of expert-approved trends.

The only problem? Your makeup bag is about to get very busy.

1. Warm, Rosy, And Glowing

Want to know what celebrities like Kris Jenner, Alix Earle, and Lindsay Lohan will be channeling with their glam this winter? Just ask Ash K Holm, the MUA who’s bringing all things “warm, rosy, and glowing” to your favorite A-lister. She’s pairing hydrating foundations with velvety matte blushes for a soft-focus finish, but her top makeup trick this season? “A pearly gold eyeliner along the waterline instantly wakes up your eyes and makes a smoky eye really pop.” Don’t forget a classic red lip — the cherry on top of her cozy, classic winter vibe.

2. Falsies & A Bold Lip

Cardi B’s makeup artist is pouring a strong cup of drama this winter. “I think 2026 makeup will have more bold looks,” Erika La’Pearl says. In true ’90s revival spirit, her favorite shades are “plum wine or spiced rose,” paired with glowing skin to keep everything modern. But the real star? “Adding false lashes always helps bring a look together,” she says. “Personally, I love using i-ENVY Classic Timeless Wispy Strip Lashes and Cluster Palette Kit (Underlash Extensions) on my clients and myself.”

3. Y2K “Snow Bunny” Makeup

Meanwhile, makeup artist Emily Gray is rooting for a frosty comeback. “I see a throwback to the Y2K frost,” she says. “But it might be my millennial heart hoping.” Shimmery pastel lips and bright white shimmer are officially on her wish list, with a touch of Victoria’s Secret Angel. It’s “bunny makeup” in the best way — a pink and white dream. But beneath all that glimmer on the lips and lids is a shift toward what she calls “a luminous matte” base, something that leans more classic winter glam than early 2000s throwback — the finish of choice for her client, Maren Morris.

4. Monochrome Moments

Winter makeup is getting the Mary Phillips treatment, and spoiler alert: it’s softly sculpted. The architect behind Hollywood’s favorite underpainting technique says the season is all about a believable “I’m cold” sweep of color — rosy cheeks and skin that looks warm and dimensional without trying too hard. And for lips? “Either a classic red moment or something deeper — rich berries and oxbloods that feel moody and luxurious,” she tells Bustle. For a chic monochrome moment, she suggests swiping your m.ph Lip Ciggy on the cheeks (shades Cherry Pie and Lose My Breath are her go-tos right now). “It gives that seamless, pulled-together look that feels effortless but intentional,” and the overall vibe this winter will be exactly that. Not full glam — just polished and “a little sexy.”

5. The Classics — With A Twist

Clearly, traditional winter glam isn’t going anywhere. Melissa Hernandez — whose celebrity client roster includes Sydney Sweeney, Olivia Rodrigo, and Mikey Madison — can’t get enough. “Between the family gatherings, cozy dinners, and holiday parties, there’s something so timeless about a crisp red lip or a touch of sparkle on the eyes,” she says. But there are ways to make it feel playful and unexpected. Hernandez, for example, is swapping out a true crimson pout or lid for maroon — just look at the smoky shadow she did for Sydney Sweeney. “There’s something about it that feels festive but still a little sultry,” she adds.

6. Moody ’90s Glam

If you thought the ’90s revival was slowing down, Mélanie Inglessis is here to say: absolutely not. The French makeup artist behind Jenna Ortega’s broody glam is predicting a winter that is “a continuation of the moody, ’90s theme,” with some unexpected colors and finishes. Think muted blues and desert pinks melting into darker eyeshadows, gray-toned contour (yes, gray) instead of browns, and “glazed skin with a gothic eye.” But the biggest ode to ’90s makeup this season? Inglessis is calling it now — “matte dark lips” are about to be everywhere.

7. A Capsule “Makeup Wardrobe”

You can thank Cherish Brooke Hill for Madison Beer’s recent makeup looks that have been quietly defining the toasty winter aesthetic. Hill is approaching glam this season as “elevated and quietly confident — it’s not about excess or perfection.” She’s been all about building a curated “makeup wardrobe,” as she calls it, full of warm tones that tell a story. Peach blushes are giving way to mulberries and roses; nude lips have melted into mocha or wine; and beige eyeshadows are turning into warm taupes or metallic brows. The overall effect? A lived-in look that never veers messy or costumey — though she’s been into the ’60s lashes that look “a little doll-like, yet still soft.”

8. Cheeks Take Center Stage

Ciele founder and celebrity makeup artist Nikki DeRoest wants you to know: this winter is all about the blush. It’s lifted, it’s sculpted, it’s draped — and yes, beige cheeks are about to become your new obsession. Her flush & Protect SPF 45+ in Cozy delivers that cool-toned, editorial blush she sees taking over in 2026. Another swap she’s making in her makeup routine this winter? “Trade your full-coverage foundation for something lighter and more breathable,” she shares. “Heavy foundation can look flat or heavy in winter lighting.” It’s effortless and, most importantly, looks alive — an absolute must this time of year.

9. Babydoll Energy

If you’ve seen Kylie Jenner’s makeup recently, you know that her MUA Ariel Tejada is obsessed with “babydoll energy” this winter. “I think more than ever, everyone is concerned with looking youthful,” he says. “Think soft rosy cheeks with porcelain skin.” His favorite pink blushes are cool-toned, because they bring that “youthful icy feel” to the look — paired with strategic glazing on a matte base. “We want to glow in the right places,” he adds. “Not look like a disco ball.” Eyes stay neutral with a flirty touch of frosting in the inner corners, and lips go glossy to keep everything fresh and modern. In other words: don’t expect a full matte lip from King Kylie anytime soon.

Why your summer skincare routine is failing you this winter

Why your summer skincare routine is failing you this winter

(Image Credits: Pinterest) As temperatures drop and winter breezes settle in, people start experiencing a sudden shift in their skin and hair health, resulting in tightness, flakiness, dullness, chapped lips, and frizzy hair. If you are also wondering why your skincare routine worked perfectly in summer but seems ineffective now in this chill season, there’s a simple reason: your skin’s needs change drastically with the season, and your routine must evolve with it.As soon as winter comes, it brings dry air, low humidity, and colder winds, all of which strip natural moisture from the skin and hair. One of the main reasons your routine isn’t working is because you’re sticking to your lightweight, gel-based, summer-friendly items. Here’s what’s going wrong—and how to fix it.1. You’re Not Prioritising Deep HydrationSummertime is all about light hydration and oil management. However, winter necessitates substantial nourishment that fortifies the skin barrier and restores lost moisture.

Switch to a Hydrating Body LotionEven while your summer lotion can seem “invisible,” it’s not doing enough in the cold. A thick, moisturizing body lotion that can reach deeper skin layers and retain moisture for extended periods of time is what you need.Look for ingredients such as White Haldi, Kokum Butter, White Lily, and Almonds, that provide daily conditioning, maintain softness even in harsh weather and gives you plump, luminous and youthful skin.2. Your Face Wash Might Be Too DryingFoaming or gel cleansers that work in summer often strip essential oils during winter.Use a Soap-Free Face WashA good soap-free face wash that does not contain any kind of SLS can help maintaining the skin glowing and nourished. You can look for actives such as hyaluronic acid, ceramides and glycerine for optimum results. On the other hand, if you are a pro-natural person then you should look for natural ingredients like cranberry, mulberry, avocado, oranges, grapefruits, olive oil, white haldi, etc that ensures your skin is cleansed properly without disrupting its natural skin barrier. This simple switch prevents tightness, dryness and that uncomfortable stretched feeling after washing your face.Winter skincare begins with choosing the right cleanser—one that hydrates as it purifies.3. You’re Ignoring Your LipsLips have no oil glands, making them extremely vulnerable and chapped to winter dryness. If you’re applying your usual lip care but still facing cracks and flakiness, it’s because your lips need deeper nourishment, which your summer Lip care is not providing. You must strictly avoid lip balms with lead and synthetic polymers that can further block your lips from getting the nutrition they deserve during winter.

Why Incorporate Vitamin C Into Your Skincare Routine

Choose a Lip Balm with Vitamin E, Licorice Oil & Shea Butter● Vitamin E helps repair damaged lip skin.● Licorice Oil brightens and improves lip tone.● Shea Butter forms a protective barrier to keep moisture sealed in.This trio ensures long-lasting softness and healing even in peak winters.4. Your Haircare Routine Is Not SeasonalJust like skin, hair becomes extremely dry during winter. Losing natural oils leads to frizziness, split ends, brittle strands and dandruff.Use a Nourishing Hair Oil with Methi Dana (Fenugreek)

Methi dana is a time-tested ingredient known for:● Reducin frizz● Treating dryness● Strengthening hair from the roots● Restoring shine and bounceIts rich conditioning properties make it indispensable for winter haircare.5. You’re Not Building a Protective BarrierSummer skincare is light and breathable. Winter skincare is restorative and protective.Your routine should create a shield that prevents moisture loss and environmental damage. The right winter essentials—hydrating lotion, nourishing face wash, enriching lip balm, and oiling routine—work together to maintain your skin barrier and hair health.Your skin and hair don’t fail you during winter—your routine does. With lower humidity and cold temperatures, your body needs formulations that hydrate deeply, soothe dryness, and protect from harsh weather.(Inputs By: Nitin Jain, Founder, La Pink)

Winter Wedding Skincare: Expert Tips for Glowing Skin

Winter Wedding Skincare: Expert Tips for Glowing Skin

LA Times Studios may earn commission from purchases made through our links.

As the winter wedding season approaches, it’s just as important to prepare your skin as it is to plan the events themselves. The combination of cold outdoor air and dry indoor heat could wreak havoc on your complexion, leaving it dull or dehydrated if not cared for properly. With the right seasonal adjustments—and some advance planning—your skin can stay healthy and radiant through the colder months so it’s photo-ready when the big day finally arrives.

We consulted leading experts to gather the most effective cold-weather skincare tips. These tried and tested recommendations will help you navigate the season’s harsh elements and ensure your complexion looks fresh when it’s time to walk down the aisle (or even just attend as a guest).

How to Keep Wedding Skin Hydrated in Winter

According to the experts we asked, the most common skincare issue in the winter months is the lack of hydration. The cold winter air and dry indoor heat draw moisture from the skin, making it look lifeless and dull. Skincare specialists advise incorporating products with humectants, substances that help attract and retain moisture.

“The key is to layer hydration strategically,” explains Diana Choi, skincare expert and founder of Vibes of Grace. “Start with a serum or essence packed with humectants like hyaluronic acid, panthenol and glycerin to draw in moisture, then seal it in with a richer cream or balm. Look for ingredients such as ceramides and squalane or lightweight oils like jojoba and grapeseed that nourish deeply without clogging pores,” she notes.

Best Winter Facials for Brides and Grooms

In addition to daily hydration, skincare specialists suggest opting for hydrating facials for an extra dose of moisture.

“The key is to start prepping four to six weeks before the big day and to focus on barrier repair and hydration,” advises Dr. Bindu Sthalekar, celebrity dermatologist and founder of Skin Smart Solutions. “Brides and grooms could consider hydrating facials or skin boosters a week prior for that dewy, plump finish. Most importantly, don’t experiment with new products close to your wedding, consistency is your real glow-up,” she emphasizes.

How Hydrating Treatments Prep Skin for the Big Day

Moreover, they also recommend going for an exfoliating facial and pairing it with a hyaluronic acid infusion. These procedures help give your complexion a radiant boost in a short amount of time.

“One of my favorite treatments to begin with is the DiamondGlow Facial,” shares Dr. Sanya Arora, co-owner and medical director at Forever Young Complete Health Care & Med Spa. “Unlike standard facials, this treatment exfoliates, extracts and infuses medical-grade serums directly into the skin. In the winter months, I always recommend pairing it with a hyaluronic acid infusion. It restores suppleness and luminosity while strengthening the barrier for the colder climate,” she explains.

Why a Humidifier Helps Your Makeup Look Better

According to experts, using a portable humidifier while getting ready is a must. This small detail could make a big difference to your overall look.

“Bring a humidifier to your hotel room and run it constantly starting 48 hours before the wedding,” recommends Shani Gailbreath, hair and makeup creative director at Shani Gailbreath. “Hotel heating systems pump dry, recycled air that strips moisture from your skin overnight. If you’re getting ready in a hotel, a portable humidifier is non-negotiable. The difference in how your skin looks and how makeup sits on it is immediate.”

Targeted Skin Treatments for Acne and Pigmentation

If you have specific skincare issues such as acne or pigmentation, experts advise opting for targeted procedures such as PDRN with microneedling.

“For brides and grooms with compromised or stressed skin, especially those who have struggled with acne scars, redness or dull texture, PDRN microneedling is transformative,” observes Dr. Arora of Forever Young. “PDRN or Polydeoxyribonucleotide is derived from salmon DNA and works to regenerate tissue, improve microcirculation and boost collagen production. When performed in a structured series before the wedding, it rebuilds the skin’s foundation, leaving it firmer, smoother and more luminous without the downtime of more aggressive treatments,” she continues.

When to Stop Retinoids Before a Winter Wedding

Moreover, skincare specialists recommend discontinuing the use of potent products such as retinoids that can actually dry out your skin in the winter months.

“Stop using Tretinoin or prescription-strength retinoids at least three weeks before your wedding,” cautions make-up artist Gailbreath. “Tretinoin compromises your moisture barrier and leaves skin vulnerable to flaking and irritation in cold weather. When you layer makeup over retinoid-treated skin in winter, foundation clings to dry patches and cream products absorb unevenly, leaving you with a patchy finish. Pause it three to four weeks out and switch to a gentler routine focused on hydration.”

Essential Lip Care for Cold Weather Weddings

While many brides-to-be understand they need to take care of their skin, one area that is often overlooked is the lips, particularly in the winter months.

“The skin on your lips is the thinnest and most sensitive compared to anywhere else on your body,” explains Dr. Robin Smith of Exoceuticals. “Make sure your lips stay protected, well hydrated and wedding-ready for the premier ‘you may kiss the bride’ moment!”

How to Prep Winter-Dry Body Skin for Events

While it’s natural with photos in mind to spend most of your focus on your face and lips, also pay attention to the skin on the rest of your body, which tends to be extra dry in the winter months.

“Opt for a luxurious chocolate body scrub that gently exfoliates dry skin while activated charcoal draws out impurities, followed by a nourishing body wrap that seals in moisture and leaves the skin silky and radiant,” recommends Imna Kumla, spa manager at Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur. “Follow it with a hot stone massage that combines the warmth of volcanic stones with aromatic oils, relaxing muscles, improving circulation and deeply nourishing dry winter skin.”

Rest and Stress Relief for a Natural Wedding Glow

Furthermore, while you incorporate all these skincare procedures and tips, also remember to de-stress and rest before your wedding celebrations.

“As a planner, I always remind my couples that the real wedding glow starts long before the big day. Skincare isn’t just about products, it’s hydration, rest and managing stress in those final weeks of planning,” reflects Martina Asgari-Majd, founder of Parisa Social Events. “When couples prioritize feeling good on the inside, it naturally shows on the outside. The calm, refreshed energy they bring truly sets the tone for the entire celebration.”

Winter Skincare Mistakes to Avoid Before a Wedding

Lastly, experts suggest keeping things simple and not overdoing it. Over-treatment could make your skin worse than before.

“In winter, restraint is therapeutic. Avoid aggressive exfoliants or deep chemical peels as a compromised barrier heightens the risk of post-inflammatory erythema,” concludes Dr. Gagan Raina, cosmetologist and aesthetic medicine specialist at Arisia Skin Clinic. “Sustainable radiance stems from physiologically balanced, well-hydrated skin, not over-treatment.”

Winter Skincare For Indian Skin: Why Body Care Matters And How Vitamin E Helps | Beauty News

Winter Skincare For Indian Skin: Why Body Care Matters And How Vitamin E Helps | Beauty News

Last Updated:November 20, 2025, 07:46 IST

Discover how winter impacts Indian skin and why body care is essential. Learn expert-backed tips, Vitamin E benefits, and how to protect your skin from dryness.

True winter beauty is not just about what you apply, it’s about how well your skin protects, repairs, and renews itself every day.

As winter sets in, the crisp air and falling temperatures bring much-needed relief from the heat but for your skin, it’s often a different story. The drop in humidity, coupled with indoor heating and longer hot showers, can strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving it dry, tight, and flaky. While most people focus primarily on facial skincare, the body often gets overlooked, even though it experiences the same if not more seasonal damage.

How Winter Affects Indian Skin

According to the Dermafique Indian Skin Health Report, Indian skin has a weaker barrier function and lower moisture retention compared to Caucasian skin, making it more vulnerable to dryness during colder months. In fact, 80% of Indian women experience dryness due to environmental factors, while 87% report under-eye dryness even after moisturising, highlighting that hydration loss runs deeper than the surface.

“Indian skin is unique because it tends to have a higher baseline oil content compared to Caucasian skin,” explains Dr Aparna Santhanam, dermatologist and skin expert, ITC Dermafique. “However, even this natural resilience doesn’t protect it completely during winter. The lower humidity and cold air pull moisture from the upper layers of the skin, weakening the skin barrier. As a result, you may notice increased dryness, dullness, and sometimes even itching or flakiness.”

This loss of moisture is not just a surface concern, it affects the skin barrier, the invisible shield that keeps irritants out and hydration in. Once compromised, the skin becomes more susceptible to environmental aggressors, leading to long-term issues such as premature aging and uneven texture.

Why Body Care Needs Equal Attention

While most people diligently switch their facial moisturisers during winter, the same level of care rarely extends to the body. Yet the skin on the body especially the arms, legs, and back is constantly exposed to friction from clothing and dryness from hot water.

“People often forget that body skin requires the same nourishment and repair as facial skin,” says Dr Aparna. “Neglecting it during winter can lead to issues like rough patches, dullness, and loss of elasticity. Using the right body care products helps maintain skin integrity and restores the suppleness that’s lost during colder months. A consistent body care ritual, starting with gentle cleansing followed by deep moisturisation, can replenish lipids and lock in hydration, ensuring your skin stays healthy and radiant from head to toe.”

Vitamin E: The Hero Ingredient for Winter Skin

When it comes to protecting and repairing winter-stressed skin, Vitamin E stands out as a true multitasking ingredient. It not only replenishes moisture but also strengthens the skin barrier and prevents further dehydration.

“Vitamin E is an antioxidant powerhouse,” explains Dr Aparna. “It neutralises free radicals caused by environmental stress and supports the regeneration of skin cells. When used topically, it enhances the skin’s ability to retain moisture and helps soothe irritation, making it especially valuable during dry, cold months.”

Vitamin E–enriched body lotions or serums help deeply nourish the skin, reduce roughness, and improve overall texture. These formulations also repair microdamage, keeping the skin soft, smooth, and resilient even in harsh winter weather.

Building a Winter Body Care Routine

Transitioning your body care routine for winter doesn’t need to be complicated, it simply needs to be intentional. For those with extremely dry skin, adding a body serum can provide an extra layer of nourishment. Its lighter texture allows deeper penetration of actives like Vitamin E, helping repair the skin barrier and restore a healthy glow.

Winter may be synonymous with cozy layers and cool breezes, but it also demands a shift in how you care for your skin. As Dr. Aparna Santhanam puts it, “Your skin mirrors your environment. When the air turns cold and dry, your body care routine must evolve to compensate for that loss of moisture.”

By embracing Vitamin E–rich formulations and a consistent winter body care ritual, you can protect your skin from seasonal dryness and keep it soft, supple, and radiant all winter long, because true skincare doesn’t stop at the face.

The biggest party makeup trends for winter 2025, according to pro MUAs

The biggest party makeup trends for winter 2025, according to pro MUAs

From dark, moody lips to metallic textures, these are the makeup trends your clients will fall in love with this party season

The festive period is one of the busiest times of the year for professional makeup artists. Whether you’re perfecting looks for winter weddings, office parties, or New Year’s Eve celebrations, staying ahead of the season’s biggest trends is key. We spoke to top MUAs and educators to uncover the party-ready makeup trends clients will be requesting most in 2025 – with expert tips for long-lasting, camera-ready finishes.

The top party makeup trends to watch in 2025…

Burgundy and chocolate makeup: The new festive glam

While gold glitters and shimmers are always a popular choice when it comes to parties and special events, Anushka Patel, a makeup artist with over 15 years’ experience and the head of makeup brand Et Al, believes the tide is about to turn.

“I’m loving the resurgence of burgundy and chocolate tones in fashion this season, and it’s exciting to see that richness reflected in makeup trends as well,” she notes.

“These warm hues translate beautifully across eyes, cheeks, and lips, offering versatility that works from day to night.”

This shift towards deeper, moodier colours is a refreshing departure from looks centred around a bold red lip, which can often feel predictable when it comes to festive makeup.

“Berry, plum and wine tones offer a more luxe finish,” observes Xiao Chen, education manager at Morphe.

The key to mastering this look relies on a reliable lip liner; matte finishes and staining formulations offer durability that will help your client’s makeup last all night.

Toasted glamour makeup: Rich tones meet high-impact definition

Nadia Fihema, director of global education at Huda Beauty, also believes that runway trends will be reflected in makeup, forecasting a fusion of ‘toasted glamour’ with ‘high-impact glam’.

What does this look like? “Toasted glamour leans into rich amber tones, soft diffused bronze lids, and that subtle, candlelit warmth that feels polished and luxe,” she explains.

“Meanwhile, the high-impact glam introduces sharper definition – so sculpted cheekbones, and deeper, more dimensional eye or lip moments that elevate the look. Together, they create a finish that is radiant and powerful.”

Luminous skin: Clean girl meets winter glow

The ‘clean girl’ and ‘glass skin’ trends have been dominating the beauty landscape for some time now, and for clients that favour this more minimal approach to makeup, luminous skin is the perfect look for them.

“Think radiant, glass-like finishes, lightweight foundations, soft diffused bronzing, and fresh blush tones that enhance natural texture for an effortlessly luxurious glow,” says Maddy Essex, senior brand educator for Jane Iredale.

Carly Utting, senior artist for Mac Cosmetics UK & Ireland, seconds this, noting that more clients are asking for “real” skin, ditching the heavy, powdery appearances as of late. “Juicy buttery skin is achieved by prepping the skin with a hydrating serum which will leave the skin nourished and ready for your chosen base,” she explains.

Wearable metallic makeup for parties

Metallic and chrome textures are back in a big way, according to Utting. “But this doesn’t have to mean bold or overly technical looks,” she clarifies.

“People are wanting to make a statement in the simplest of ways. This could be a wash of multi-dimensional nudes on the eye that shift from oyster pearl to bronze, or a frosted lip. This season it’s all about playful texture.”

Chen agrees, explaining that this approach lends itself well to complexion finishes, too. “Instead of chunky glitter, I would opt for microfine or metallic wash. Using a soft-focus highlighter rather than full-on disco ball will modernise the look, as well as keeping the base as natural as possible, so your clients look polished but not overdone,” she suggests.

How to ensure makeup photographs well

Parties and other special occasions often result in lots of photo opportunities, so it’s likely your clients will want to ensure their makeup looks good both in person and on camera.

“I always say prep is everything,” explains Chen. “If the skin is smooth and hydrated, the makeup instantly sits better and photographs beautifully. I like to use a satin-finish foundation, something with a soft glow but not too shiny,” she says.

Meanwhile, Fihema notes that flawless under eyes are a must, as this is an area that can often look problematic when it comes to flash photography. Whether you’re using a loose or pressed powder, make sure you’ve tested these out for flashback before using on your clients.

When it comes to technique, Patel recommends spending a little extra time on blending – especially with complexion products. “Flash photography can highlight any harsh lines or uneven application, so using a damp sponge to softly press and diffuse product ensures a seamless, photo-ready finish,” she explains.

“It’s those small steps that make a big difference in how makeup translates in real life and in pictures.”

The most popular makeup textures and finishes in 2025

Essex echoes the observation that ‘clean girl’ makeup has continued to prove popular, explaining, “We’ve noticed a shift towards lighter textures, with a focus on buildable, dewy cream and liquid formulations that enhance the natural skin, rather than full coverage bases that can have the tendency to sit in fine lines and wrinkles.”

Discussing the reason behind this shift, she continues, “With the incredible rise in popularity of advanced skincare and aesthetic treatments aimed at improving skincare texture, we now want to embrace our skin and show off our progress, giving it as much focus, if not more, than the eyes and lips.”

However, that’s not to say that powder products don’t have a place in the latest makeup trends, with Utting acknowledging that people are becoming more aware of the advantages of combining creams and powders.

“Formulas are now created to be able to be used in synchronicity, meaning you can layer and build both together. Cream eyeshadow bases are becoming more popular to lay as a base for powder shadows to be used on top, meaning the pigment of the powder shows more.”

Fihema agrees, especially when it comes to complexion. “Cream formulas give natural movement and a lit-from-within glow, while powders are used strategically to set, and extend makeup wear.”

When discussing textures and finishes, ‘soft’ is the key word Chen uses to describe the current state of play. “Powders are being used more lightly, just to set, not to mask,” she explains. “And instead of chunky glitter, we’re seeing finer metallics and soft shimmers – they catch the light in such a flattering way.”

How salons can create a calm, luxury experience during peak season

The festive period is one of the busiest times in a salon, with an increased number of clients looking to treat themselves to a little pampering. With this in mind, how can salons ensure they are still providing a relaxing experience? It all comes down to timing…

“Glamming someone getting ready for a busy Christmas party can be super stressful, and the expectation on the makeup artist is even higher when it’s for an important event,” notes Utting.

“For me, ensuring there is enough time for glam is always the most important. Get there early to set up, have everything planned and be ready for changes! I always make sure everything is sanitised and ready to go.

“I like to treat my clients to a nice face massage before I start makeup, it relaxes them but also makes the skin look so much healthier!”

As we move into the busiest weeks of the year, one thing is clear: clients are embracing makeup that feels elevated yet effortless.

From the depth of burgundy tones to the warmth of toasted glamour and the freshness of luminous skin, this year’s party trends strike the perfect balance between impact and wearability.

Texture is playing a major role too, with microfine metallics, soft shimmers and cream-and-powder layering helping artists create looks that hold up under party lighting and constant photographs.

With thoughtful prep, considered product choices and a calm approach behind the chair, MUAs can deliver makeup that not only lasts all night but makes clients feel confident, relaxed and ready to celebrate.

Q&A: Party Makeup Trends 2025

What are the biggest party makeup trends for 2025?
The key trends include burgundy and chocolate tones, toasted glamour with rich ambers and sculpted features, luminous “clean girl” skin, wearable metallic finishes, and softly layered cream-and-powder textures.

What makeup look is most flattering for winter events?
Luminous, softly sculpted skin paired with warm eye tones or microfine metallic accents works well for winter lighting and evening photography. The combination of glow plus definition tends to be universally flattering.

How can makeup artists ensure festive looks last all night?
Focus on skin prep, build colour in thin layers, and combine cream and powder textures for increased longevity. Opt for matte lip liners, long-wear stains and strategic powder placement to reduce movement.

What makeup photographs best in flash?
Satin or soft-glow foundations, well-hydrated skin, and finely milled powders tend to photograph the most seamlessly. Avoid heavy highlighter or products that cause flashback, especially under the eyes.

What textures and finishes are most popular right now?
Buildable creams, lightweight liquids and soft-set powders dominate 2025 makeup trends. MUAs favour products that enhance natural skin while allowing strategic powder for longevity and definition.

Winter Skincare Simplified: Experts Share How To Keep Your Skin Healthy, Hydrated And Radiant | Health and Fitness News

Experts share essential winter skincare tips from barrier repair to deep hydration and sun protection.

With barrier-strengthening products, mindful routines, and hydrating formulations, healthy winter skin is well within reach

As temperatures drop and cold winds settle in, winter quickly becomes a challenging season for the skin. Dryness, dullness, irritation, and disruption of the skin barrier are some of the most common concerns. This year, leading skincare experts and brand spokespersons share their insights on how to care for your skin the right way, without overcomplicating your routine.

Shaily Mehrotra, co-founder, Fixderma, says, “The key lies in strengthening the skin barrier rather than layering too many products. As temperatures drop, our skin’s natural barrier becomes more vulnerable to dryness and irritation. Winter skincare isn’t about layering multiple products but about strengthening your skin barrier with the right activities and hydration.”

She recommends looking for barrier-supporting ingredients like ceramides, almond oil, and hyaluronic acid, and emphasizes small seasonal adjustments such as switching to a gentle cleanser, using a richer moisturizer, and applying sunscreen daily. “At Fixderma, we always emphasize consistency over complexity; skincare should adapt to the season, not overwhelm it,” she adds.

Highlighting how winter affects the skin’s internal balance, Dr. Anuradha Sharma, Medical Advisor & Skin Expert, FCL Skincare, notes that abrupt temperature changes, cold air outdoors and indoor heating confuse the skin, often triggering irritation and dullness. “The goal should be to help your skin adjust gently,” says Dr Sharma. She recommends a mild cleanser followed by a hydrating serum and a ceramide or hyaluronic acid–based moisturizer to lock in moisture. Sunscreen, she stresses, remains non-negotiable even in winter: “UV rays don’t take a winter break.” At FCL, she says, the focus is on strengthening skin resilience so it stays nourished and radiant throughout the season.

Deep hydration is also at the core of O3+’s winter recommendations. O3+ Skincare experts warn that skin loses moisture rapidly due to cold winds and low humidity, demanding a routine centred around barrier repair. They advise using nourishing moisturizers immediately after cleansing to trap hydration effectively. Weekly treatments like the Hydrogel Mask provide an instant moisture boost, while gentle cleansing with lukewarm water helps preserve natural oils. For indoor environments, they recommend using a humidifier to maintain comfortable hydration levels. And just like other experts, O3+ stresses the importance of sun protection: their broad-spectrum sunscreens keep skin shielded and hydrated even on cooler days. To restore radiance, O3+ highlights its Hydrate & Glow Facial Kit as an ideal winter pick-me-up.

Bringing an easy-to-follow routine to the table, Snigdha Suman, General Manager, Marketing & Business Development, Avon, says winter can be harsh on the skin, stripping away moisture and glow. She suggests a simple yet effective regimen powered by Avon India’s Anew range. “Start with the Anew Sensitive Cream Cleanser to remove impurities without drying, and follow up with the Anew Ultimate Toner to help your skin absorb hydration better,” she says. To deeply hydrate, she recommends the Anew HA Hydrate & Plump Serum infused with a 3.5% Hyaluronic Acid Complex. For daytime, the Anew Ultimate Firm & Supple Day Cream SPF 20 locks in moisture while offering sun protection. At night, she recommends the Anew Ultimate Firm & Supple Night Cream to restore firmness and radiance, followed by the Anew HA Overnight Mask for an extra hydration boost. “Your winter glow, simplified,” she assures.

Across all experts, one message is clear, winter skincare doesn’t need complexity, it needs consistency, nourishment, and protection. With barrier-strengthening products, mindful routines, and hydrating formulations, healthy winter skin is well within reach.
